Chapter 25

I opened my eyes only to notice we were already packed at the apartment building parking lot. '' you are finally awake '' Vicnan, who seems to have been watching me said with a soft smile on his lips.

    '' why didn't you wake me up? '' looking around, my eyes finally fell on him '' How long have I been asleep? "

    '' A while ''

    '' seriously " I reached for my bag while he shrugged in response '' let's go inside ''

    '' you go in. I have to go somewhere. '' with one hand on the steering and full attention on me.

    '' are you going back to the underworld? ''

    '' No. but I am going somewhere beyond human reach '' he smiled

    '' where is that?'' I grew curios

    '' you will find out someday. Right now, I have a meeting with someone important ''

    '' I see '' nodding '' When will you be back? '' looking away from him. To be honest I felt a bit disappointed to know he was leaving. I wonder what is so important that he has to leave for so long.

    '' I don't know, I can't say because time moves differently there. Why? " I sensed his curiosity in his way. '' missing me already?'' I turn to look at him with a serious face  

    '' why would I? I will be too busy with work to notice that you are gone '' there was silence between us for a while. He stared at me for some time, and a mocking smile slowly made its way to his lips '' you are lying ''

    '' No I am not '' I defended '' why will I lie? What do you take me for? ''

    '' Bonnie '' that name rolled out of his lips, calm and low. '' if you haven't noticed I have good hearing. I may not be able to read your thoughts but I can hear your heartbeat'' I became speechless at his words '' and when you lie, your heart beats faster '' totally speechless. Thinking back to all the time my heart rate increased because of him

    '' wa...wait. So you are saying you listen to my heartbeat'' he nods while my eyes fell wide open. I looked away from him in embarrassment

    '' what. Feeling shy now? Probably because I know I make your heart flutter '' I heard him say. Trying to look bold, I turn to him

   '' and so. Yes, you make my heart race. So what...'' suddenly taking me by surprise. He leans closer, too close. Eyes locked to mine, I could feel his breath against my skin, only inches away from each other, and the atmosphere changed. Damn it why does he always do this to me? Surely he could hear it, my heartbeat. My face turned red from the thought of it.

    '' I told you not to fall in love with me '' his deep, calm voice was enough to melt every bone in my body. Why eyes slowly fell on his lips. I wanted to kiss him.

    '' ….Vicnan ''  trying my best to speak out and not sound strange '' If you keep leaning in... I am going to kiss you one day '' he may look calm but I saw it, I saw the shock in his eyes due to my words. His eyes fell on my lips as well and for a moment I thought he was really going to kiss me. But his lips slowly created a smile

    '' Really? '' our eyes meet once again '' Then what are you waiting for?'' now he surprises me again. Shit, what do I do? I really want to kiss him but I can't, it will make me look like a fool. I hate you Vicnan, I thought to myself. I did the one thing a normal person would do. I looked away

    '' it is getting late ''changing the topic. I felt him move away from me '' I should go now ''

    '' Yeah '' was his response. Not looking at him, I opened the door and got out '' Bonnie ?'' he called stopping me at my track. I remained looking in a different direction '' about that doctor. ''

    '' what about him? '' 

    '' he is ok '' he said. For strange unknown reasons, I sensed both the lie and truth in his words. I finally looked his way to see him resting on the car steering with all attention on me. He looked damn cool

    '' is he human? ''

    '' no, he is a demon '' he responded

    '' is that why I feel the same connection with him? '' I grew more curious

    '' probably '' once again his words were not entirely true '' you will find out soon ''

    '' I see '' not asking any further questions as I noticed he was trying to escape it '' I will see you around then '' With that, I walked away, into the building.

          A million thoughts ran through my head. I was so distracted that I didn't even notice my neighbour was in the elevator with me. He showed so much worry the moment he noticed I was distracted while I tried to assure him that I was ok. The moment I entered my apartment. I took a long hot shower, hoping it will reduce my body aches.

           I made my way to the couch after I have freshen up. then I got a call from Edward

    '' hey Cleo. Are you alright? '' I could smell the worries in his tone

    '' yeah, I am fine. Why do you sound worried ''

    ''Ummm.. nothing, just wanted to make sure you were alright. Sorry I couldn't keep you up at work today ''

    '' Why are you apologizing, it is not like you are my driver or something '' laughing. I found it funny

    '' I know, I just do not appreciate the idea of you taking the bus ''

    '' I see. You don't have to worry, I didn't take the bus today '' there was a sudden strange silence '' hello ''

    '' did you go with someone? '' he spoke again

    '' yeah. Vicnan, do you remember him? ''

    '' why would I ever forget him '' his words made me smile

    '' he brought me back ''

    '' I see '' we had a few more conversations and I kept assuring him that I was okay

putting my phone aside. I rested my back with my eyes closed then I thought of the event that took place an hour ago in the car  

    '' I told you not to fall in love with me ''     

    '' hhh '' I sighed in frustration. Thinking deeply for a while, it slowly came to my realization '' I think I have already fallen in love with you '' I said to myself
