An Unchangeable Destiny

This strange situation made Hidal feel a sense of dread even in Heaven.

He began to wreck his mind trying to find a reasonable explanation, "This situation is very troublesome. It means that only one person can occupy this Pathway!"

Thinking about the moment when he became a Priest, if it wasn't for the existence of Heaven, his head would have been blown up by the flood of information no doubt. This further cemented Hidal's belief that this Pathway could only be occupied by one person.

Soon though, Hidal thought of another possibility.

"Mhm... There is also a possibility that this wasn't always the case. It could be that initially, like all the other Pathways, this one could also be accommodate multiple individuals. This could've been the case until it was somehow altered due to the interference of the previous owner of Heaven, that is, the 'Primordial One' !"

"But then why would he do this? Could it be more conducive to 'His' revival plan this way?"

Suddenly, Hidal recalled the murmur he heard in his mind shortly after he had drank the potion, "You finally woke up!"

In Heaven, Hidal's mood could not calm down for a long time. At this moment, he had a strong feeling that his destiny has already been arranged.

Even if his guess was true though, he was still powerless to change anything at this time.

After a while, he sat back in his throne a little absent-minded and said with a wry smile, "huh... In a way, I can now relate to how Klein felt with his fate!"

Discarding all these negative emotions, Hidal said bitterly, "If it happens, it happens. Moreover, the Ancient Sun God might find a way to get rid of the 'Primordial One', so I'm not necessarily without hope!"

In fact, the best way to get rid of the Primordial One is to not Transcend the Sequence, Hidal thought about it just now but quickly denied it.

Without enough power, when encountering extraordinary events in this world, one cannot even hope to protect themselves. This is even more so with approaching of the apocalypse. The occurrence of extraordinary events will become more and more frequent.

If he wants to survive the apocalypse, Hidal knows that the only successful way is to ascend into godhood and then from there become a Great Old One.

Depend on the gods? Hehe, stop kidding.

You can trust in the power of the gods but not in the mercy of the gods.

Hidal knows that these gods, if not for their 'anchors', would not care much about the life and death of mere mortals.

In order to achieve their goals, these gods would even sacrifice the lives of millions of ordinary people without batting an eye.

Hidal didn't want to be under the mercy of a god who would no doubt use him sacrificial offering in order to achieve their purpose in the future.

"So even if I know that the 'Primordial One' is very likely to revive in my body in the future, until that time comes, I must try my best to acquire power."

Having figured out these things, Hidal continued reading the 'Book of Blasphemy'. What he needs now is more knowledge and power to able to deal with the revival of the 'Primordial One' and survive the soon to come Apocalypse.

As he was reading the Book of Blasphemy, Hidal saw more knowledge about mysticism, divination, etc. He discovered that as long as he reads it even once, that knowledge becomes embedded in his mind, making him unable to forget it. This meant that he did not need to actively try to memorize this knowledge. It's just like it was with the potion formula of the Priest previously.

"In this way, this 'Book of Blasphemy' is convenient for even the dumbest of minds to study."

Hidal continued flipping through the pages absorbing much of the knowledge that was before him. After an unknown period of time, he suddenly felt his head becoming a little heavy. Hidal knew that this was because his spirituality was almost exhausted. If he does not leave Heaven now, he will automatically be kicked out just like the last time.

In order to prevent this from happening, Hidal decided to voluntarily exit Heaven. Covering himself in spirituality, he simulated the feeling of falling. The next moment, he was back in the underground laboratory.

He took out his pocket watch from his pocket and glanced at it and found that it took him about half an hour to get in and out, "It seems that the ratio of the flow of time between Heaven and the real world is 1:1."

Next, Hidal cleaned the used experimental equipment and put them back in their original positions and then removed the wall of spirituality and finally left the basement.

It was at this time that Hidal realized that it was already past five o'clock in the afternoon and he didn't seem to have eaten lunch. Thinking of this, a strong sense of hunger struck him.

'Originally, I planned to exercise my hands by cooking myself something to eat, but now looking at the time, it seems that I can only go out for dinner and grab something to eat at the restaurant. Let me change my clothes first!'

Hidal glanced at the clothes he was wearing and noticed that they had become dirty. This is due to him previously collapsing and writhing on the ground in agony because he could not bare flooding of knowledge in his mind.

"Maybe I should be named Voldemort!" (huh :o ?)

Hidal quipped as he went back to his room, changed clothes and wore a formal suit because the restaurant he was going to was quite expensive. Only a few individuals could afford to go there as most people here were poor.

After changing into his formal clothes, he put on a silk top hat, picked up a silver cane inlaid with heavy peach wood and spun it a few times, "Perfect! Next time I go to the underground trading market I have to take this cane with me. Maybe I should also buy a pistol. The underground trading market should have some, but I will go there tomorrow. I've experienced far too much today thus I need some well deserved rest."

Since the Priest had no direct means of confronting the enemy, Hidal felt that it would be safer to buy a gun for the sake of insurance.

Hidal then went out. The restaurant was close to the Halls neighborhood. He walked for about ten minutes before he came to the restaurant. He chose a table and sat down. Soon a waiter came over and asked him what he wanted to eat. Since he had not eaten the whole day save for the light breakfast in the morning, Hidal ordered quite a bit of food....

It didn't take long for the waiter to bring up the food. Pan-fried steak, boiled lamb with sauce, potato salad, and expensive rice... (I wonder why author-san felt the need to make 'rice' expensive xD)

Seeing the mouth watering food in front of him, Hidal was tempted to devour it with reckless abandon but was forced to reign in his desire seeing the people around him. He could only slowly and elegantly put the food into his mouth.

As he was enjoying himself, he heard what sounded like two people chatting as they entered the restaurant.

"We need a private room!" The two shouted as soon as they walked in and Hidal couldn't help but take a glance at them. The restaurant's private room is pretty expensive, costing one gold pound. Hidal would not dare to be so noisy in a place like this even if he had all the money in the world.

Both of them looked like they were middle-aged men. One of them had plump forehead, black hair, brown eyes, and a pair of spectacles with almost round lenses. He smirked faintly, looking as though he was mocking everyone.

The other person had thick and messy eyebrows, little hair on his head, and gray-blue eyes and had his left hand tightly pressed against his abdomen as if he was hiding something in his clothes.

Soon a waiter led the two men upstairs and the gray-blue eyed gentleman with his belly tucked in urged the one beside him, "Hanass, hurry up!"

The man named Hanass responded, "Alright Sirius..."

As the two went up, Hidal could no longer hear them and they soon vanished from his sight. The names of the two men however, were linked to the names he remembered in his mind.
