In the study.
After Seth left, the Byson stayed behind.
The baron rubbed his forehead habitually. "That child, are you sure he's all right?"
Anilu shook her head. "I heard you say he's changed a lot, like a different person, so I performed a divination."
"Don't worry, he's still him. At least, that's what the divination told me."
Byson nodded slightly. "Then I can rest assured. I've invested a lot in him."
Hearing this, Anilu's eyes flashed with displeasure.
On the other side, Seth, who had returned to his bedroom, threw himself onto the bed.
But because he was too excited, he didn't sleep deeply that night and got up before dawn.
After breakfast, his mother, Anilu, took Seth to a quiet room. This room was in his memory, but he had never been there.
The room was full of bookshelves stacked with books, and two long wooden tables held test tubes, droppers, beakers, and other laboratory equipment.
There was also a wooden door at the back of the room, engraved with symbols that Seth couldn't understand.
"Today, I'm going to teach you how to meditate."
His mother's voice made Seth focus. At some point, the woman in the plain dress had put on glasses and looked like a scholar.
"When you drink a potion, its power often overflows. Your vision may become abnormal, and you might hear voices you couldn't hear before."
"Meditation is needed to control and focus the power and finally fully grasp the potion's effects."
Seth was eager to try. "Mom, what should I do?"
Anilu smiled. "Don't worry, kid. Listen to me. For now, you need to learn simple, entry-level meditation."
"Relax your mind and body, close your eyes, and focus your attention. Picture something simple and easy to visualize."
"Once you've sketched this image in your mind, focus on it and keep repeating and refining it."
"When you can visualize it instinctively, as soon as you close your eyes, you've done your homework."
Seth nodded slightly. "I'll try it now."
He found a chair in the room, sat down, closed his eyes, relaxed, and began sketching the snake-scale revolver in his mind.
In his previous adventures at sea, it had left a deep impression on him.
Soon, Seth found it difficult to completely reproduce the revolver in his mind; its structure needed to be simplified.
He decided to change the focus.
Suddenly, he remembered the mysterious book. Its outline was simple, and it had a special meaning for him.
"That's it!"
Seth began to outline the shape of the mysterious book in his mind, imagining the feeling of holding it in his hand. As he repeated the process, the thick tome became clearer in his mind.
A few days it was passed like this.
On the night of the fourth day, after dinner, Anilu brought Seth back to the 'laboratory.'
"We've collected the last two auxiliary materials. I can prepare the 'Hunter' potion for you tonight."
The mother who opened the door said this, which excited Seth. He was finally going to enter the mysterious world and become Extraordinary.
After lighting the gas lamps in the room, Anilu walked towards the door with the mysterious symbol on it, pushed it open, and took out various materials.
Some were leaves, some were branches, and some were containers with unknown organs soaked in liquid.
While placing these ingredients into a large iron pot in a specific order, Anilu said, "The preparation of low-sequence potions is simple. Just follow the formula and add the ingredients in the right amounts. Then stir."
"It doesn't matter if there are slightly more or fewer auxiliary materials. As for the main ingredients, the weight can be a little less, but not too much. What needs attention is that their weight must not be excessive, even if only a little. It will lead to serious consequences."
Anilu looked at her son calmly. "You must remember this if you need to make potions yourself in the future."
Seth nodded vigorously, recording his mother's words, not daring to forget them.
At this time, Anilu opened the vessel containing the mysterious organ and took out a heart-like object.
As soon as it left the liquid, a flame-like red light flickered inside, showing its power.
"This is the heart of the Pas red wolf. This wild wolf is an extraordinary species. They are excellent hunters with high intelligence and can use traps to hunt."
"Its heart is the main ingredient of the 'Hunter' potion. Without it, the correct potion cannot be formulated."
Anilu threw the heart into the iron pot, and as the red wolf's heart touched the materials inside, flames burst forth.
Seth vaguely saw the materials begin to decompose in the flames, not disappearing but gathering together.
The bright red flame in the iron pot filled Seth with a powerful enthusiasm and fighting spirit.
The flame seemed to awaken his instinct, making him eager to engage and draw closer to it.
As the flame in the pot finally died down, the contents were reduced to a viscous, bright red liquid. It separated into distinct layers and was easily poured into a cup.
Anilu picked up the cup. "Okay, this is the 'Hunter' potion."
Seth approached and took the cup. Having read the protagonist in Lord of the Mysteries obtain their first potion, he was not surprised by the red, viscous liquid. Under his mother Anilu's watchful eye, he drank the potion.
The liquid slid down his throat; it had no distinctive taste but was slightly warm.
As soon as he swallowed the potion, Seth's body twitched, feeling as if thousands of insects were crawling beneath his skin. The surrounding environment seemed to warp unrealistically, with one of his hands appearing to lengthen while the other shortened. He heard the roar of a beast, sometimes clear and sometimes muffled.
He groaned, feeling irritable and overwhelmed.
Anilu's voice cut through the confusion. "Meditate, Seth. Use the meditation techniques you practiced over the past few days to control the overflow of the potion's power."
Seth quickly refocused, skillfully visualizing the shape of the mysterious book, imagining its weight, and sensing its enigma.
Gradually, his agitation subsided, and the beast's roar faded away. When he opened his eyes again, although the scene remained slightly blurry, it no longer had the disorienting, unreal quality from before.
He looked at his hands, which now appeared normal, with no signs of distortion.
Seth could feel every muscle in his body brimming with strength, each precisely controllable and capable of unleashing tremendous power when needed.
His senses had sharpened dramatically. His nose detected various smells in the room; his eyesight had become so acute that he could see insects outside the window; his skin was sensitive enough to distinguish different materials by touch; and his hearing was keen, allowing him to hear his younger siblings arguing in the hall vaguely.
Additionally, the knowledge of swordsmanship and combat skills he had previously learned became crystal clear and deeply ingrained in his mind. He could recall and decompose his techniques, seamlessly combining them into continuous, effective attacks.
Knowledge of trap-making also emerged, enabling Seth to craft simple yet deadly traps from available materials. With enough time and resources, he could even design a series of intricate traps!
Taking a deep breath, he marveled at his transformation and whispered, "I succeeded."
