Battle at Demon Peak pt 2.

Once everyone had come through the portal Lord Death closed it with a wave of his hand and motioned for me to open the door that now stood in front of us. i pulled out a key with Lord Death's likeness stamped into the bow and pushed it through the keyhole unlocking the massive door and with just a little bit of force I shoved open the door and ushered my squad into the brightly lit foyer riddled with paintings from ever era, even a few cave drawings' all depicting Lord Death in one way or another.

After everyone was inside we all parted ways going to either eat, wash up, or just screw around. I stayed behind waiting till everyone left to be debriefed and to ask It a question pertaining to a meeting that was going to happen the following evening. "Lord Death?" i asked after the last reaper left the foyer. "Yes my boy?" his voice sent chills down my spine even after working for him for the past millennia. "What's this meeting were going to tomorrow and why must i be present?" Death looked into my eyes and pulled something out of his robe. "Well boy The Creator and Demon King want to end their war and they would like for Lady Life, The King of Dragons, and myself present for a vote on another matter. The Creator asked for everyone to bring their right hands as there will be someone there that wants to speak to the leaders and future leaders about an ascension ceremony."

When he finished i nodded and we walked to his office while he debriefed me on the mission we just finished. When we arrived at His office the guards that were stationed at the main entrance stood at attention. I looked them over as i was responsible for all of the security in Caemeterium, from the tattoo on their forearms i saw that they were from the Scythe Squad. There are four squads: first is the Coffin squad they're the normal reapers nothing special, second is the Skull squad which is in charge of taking care of the kulled souls, third is the Scythe squad which is Death's personal army, and finally the Scale Squad which is in charge of judgement of the kulled souls.

"May i ask you a question Arius?" Death said while closing the door behind us and changing to his human form. I nodded as he took his seat, "Why did you choose those particular reapers to guard my office?" He looked at me from his chair gesturing for me to sit down in the chair opposite him. I sat and pulled out a cigarette, I willed a golden flame to sprout from the tip of my thumb and lit it took a long drag and exhaled the smoke. "Well my Lord-" Lord Death cut me off. "Boy stop being so formal address me by my name, now go on." I sighed and continued, "Well Death, those two are the strongest duo In Scythe squad I once helped them take down one of the Beasts and alone they could both take an Arch Duke or a Seraph easy." I let the pride for them show a bit as I had trained them.

I am Death's right hand but i am also the commander of the Scythe squad, I happen to train most of the new recruits for Scythe but since becoming the right hand I haven't had the time to train anyone. The guards were my last students. I looked at Death as he began looking over scrolls pertaining to the meeting. "Alright lets get down to business, the meeting will be held in the Silver City everyone that has been invited is to bring their right hand so expect security to be at max. While inside the city you are not permitted to be anywhere aside from the meeting hall and your weapon is not to be unsheathed, however you may and are expected to have it on your person at all times." He handed me a scroll with the depiction of the Silver City on it and a small red circle labeled allowed over a small section of it. "All of the kingdoms will be present and try your best to not anger anyone, we don't want a repeat of last time." he said with a scowl.

Last time I was attending a meeting it was between Lord Death and The Demon King, about a revolt in the lower circles of hell against the higher circles. The right hand at the time, Bael, tried and failed to assassinate Lord Death and I almost cut off the demon's head before being stopped by The Demon King's elite guard.

Lord Death looked at me and smiled, "Don't fret my boy you have grown since then I know you will keep your cool, these are just orders from King Azazel. Now, we leave at first light so go get some rest I will have someone prepare your armor and scythe and have them delivered to your room. Dismissed." With a wave of his hand I stood and exited the office stopping to wish my former students a good night and headed to my room.

On my way to my room I was stopped by a particular reaper that I hadn't seen before. "Sir," she said a little nervous, "I'm sorry for the intrusion but I have no idea where I am could you help me get to Coffins headquarters?" She was looking at her feet the entire time she spoke. I looked at her forearm to see the tattoo was fresh, I smiled and pointed to her left towards a massive door, "When I first became a reaper it took me nearly a decade to figure out the floor plan of this fortress, don't worry follow me." I started towards the door with the female reaper quick at my heels.

We walked for about 10 minutes in complete silence as I helped her traverse the maze like lay out of our home. "So kid, what's your name?" I asked trying to break the uncomfortable silence. "Loralie." She whispered, I smiled. "Ah you're named after a Siren nice name, pretty unique even for a reaper." I heard heavy footfalls coming from in front of us as the commander of Coffin, Gord came into view from around a corner. When he saw me he immediately pounded his right hand over his heart in salute before speaking. "You're late child." He seemed to spit the word as of it was poison. The commander was about 6 feet tall and mostly muscle, his head covered in a thick mop of greasy black hair that fell down his back like a river of oil. His face was full of various scars and he had the word death in bold letters tattooed on his neck. Personally I didn't like the guy but he was a good leader.

"I'm sorry sir, it won't happen again I promise." Loralie squeaked standing at attention. I looked at Gord and looked back at the girl. "Gord, did you happen to give Ms. Loralie a map of the fortress?" I asked my voice putting on a more authoritative tone. He stiffened as I looked to Loralie. She barely shook her head as if to try and go unseen by her commander. "Here," I pulled a scroll out of thin air and handed it to her, " as for you." I turned and walked closer to Gord as he immediately stood at attention. "How did you expect a recruit to find her way around the fortress if she doesn't have a map?" I saw Loralie smile a little out of the corner of my eye. "I'm sorry sir I must have forgot sir." he spoke in a loud voice. "Go and don't let me catch you mistreating your subordinates poorly again understood?" He nodded and left as Loralie followed behind him she waved before she turned the corner and was out of my sight.
