Letting loose in the city.

Took and Anewbie seems excited about getting named, they are happy, fluttering and jumping all over the place. Zeke struggles, trying to figure how to calm them down, but then he realizes something.

— Uh, actually i haven't chosen any names for neither of you. But I'll think about it for a while. For now let's just work.

That seemed to upset the loonies a little bit, but at least they were calm now. But this was also a little bit upsetting to Zeke, as he used to think that he would never actually desire to work. Tough the perspective of collecting funny creatures, creating a land of his own, and in general, working by using playing cards all seemed totally exciting to him. Maybe in his former life he got to enjoy some of this stuff.

— Well, what am i supposed to do first? — Zeke asks, but Victor is nowhere to be heard.

— Victor? Are you there?

Nothing. Zeke them shouts but his words are replaced by gibberish, at wich he reacts by swearing even more. His loonies just look at him.

— Well, if you don't know what to do, you could go to the city to ask for another human's help. — Took says.

— Okay, but, how am i supposed to do that?

Took points at the weird device that looks like a weighing machine, the one that Zeke noticed when he first entered in the house.

— That thing is to do just that? — Zeke asks.

— Yes.

— And how do you know that?

— I have a dark past. — Took says.

— What kind of dark past?

— Human, you surely ask a ton of hard questions. Do you want to go to the city or not?

— Well, tell me how.

Took indicates that he should step in the thing and then press the only button in the whole cumbersome gadget. In an instant, he is back on the main city. It seems like he had been teleported to a randomly chosen but safe spot.

Meanwhile, in Zeke's house...

— Now what? — Anewbie asks.

— Now it's time for the traditional... NO-HUMANS-IN-THE-HOUSE PARTY!

Back with Zeke, he wanders around a boulevard searching for anyone who could probably help. He sees a group of uniformed agents, wearing the usual pink hat, green suit and purple pants. He doubts for a second, but the officer badges doesn't lie, so he gets close.

— Excuse me — he says — I'm a new Landlord and i want to know what am i supposed to do.

The officers laugh at him.

— What? Did i say something funny?

Between laughs, one of the officers says. — Have you... haha... have you been... hahaha... you... hahahahaha... you have been summoned or something?

— As long as i can recall, yes.

— Ah... ah... Okay landlord, let me tell you something. — The same officer says after forcedly stopping his laughter. — I admire you landlords, but what you do is as legal as chewing gum.

— So... — Zeke says, worried.

— It's softbanned, that means we will not prosecute you, but we also must not support your activity by any means. So if you get robbers in your island or something, you are all by yourself.

— Activity? — Zeke says — What kind of activity?

— You know, harvesting, building, taming loonies, selling stuff, that kind of activity. Like in the landlord's motto. "Expand the land, Tame the wild, build the stuff, update it all, better yourself, and do it all again."

— Catchy! okay, got it! Thanks!

— No, no, wait! Forget i said that!

— Sorry — Zeke says as he starts walking away. — Expand the land, tame the wild, build the stuff, update it all...

He keeps walking and repeating until he realizes something.

— stuff... update it all... better yourself... aaand i don't know how to get back home.

Because he has no better idea, he enters the first shop he finds open. There he finds a young adult girl in a sofa playing a ridiculously good looking videogame. It seemed like she was playing as a dragon, and she was crazy good at it. He stared at her screen for a while.

— Hey! — She shouts, pausing the game and looking angrily at Zeke. — What do you think you are doing?

— Oh, sorry i just entered your shop. I wanted to get advise on how to get back home.

— What? That's ridiculous, unless you are a new landlord that just tested the teleporter without knowing what it was.

— Actually, i knew it was a teleporter, my Took forgot to tell me how to return.

— Just a tip for the future, be aware that Tooks usually like to play pranks. — The girl says.

— Thanks, by the way I'm Zeke.

— Flora, the best botanist in this side of the city. I also have a mastery on Grass and Flyer loonies, they're my passion. — She lifts up and offers zeke a handshake, wich he accepts. — By the way, for new landlords who first come to my shop... — She hands him a few cards.

— Why? I didn't pay you anything.

— You'll owe me, but trust me, we'll get a mutual benefit, I'm investing on you, don't tell the guys of the pink hat, y'know.

— Oh, i get it. By the way how i get back home?

— Oh, that's easy, just say "Undo teleportation" and you'll get back. It will work even if your house's teleporter is broken. Of course you can also take the Teleway, but it's better if you avoid it for now.

Zeke was just about to ask what the Teleway was but for the context he deduced it was the teleporter equivalent of public transport. Good if he makes some friends and wants to pay a visit, but useless for now. However, he had an idea. If this shop had this kind of policy... then maybe other shops have it too!

So he wanders the city for a couple hours until he gets tired. He checks his energy.

ZEKE NRG: 64/100. +1 point in 12:32

He remembers having 60 when he woke. Maybe this energy is not related to his physique as much as it seemed, tough depleting it seems to cause a similar sensation for a short while.

But the point of all that was to get some starting stuff for free. He did get a bit, tough now he is in debt with around a dozen people, he took notes using a function from the Looniepedia to keep records of his creditors. He lastly checked his newly acquired cards on his collection, and they were conveniently sorted by category.

BOTANICS

— Humongotato seeds x 3

— Botany Upgrade Starter Chest x1

That was Flora's gifts, Zeke was anxious to see those Humongotatoes growing huge as they name suggested. But specially intrigued by the chest's content.

UPGRADES

— Insta Upgrade Basic x 4

— Insta Upgrade Medium x 2

— Insta Upgrade Elite x 1

— BPack Upgrade: Gaping Mouth I

The crazy guy on the upgrade shop was desperate to give some of this items away, like if he actually wanted to get fired. He briefly explained that this things were supposed to give upgrades to some technological devices like his BPack. Zeke quickly figured what Gaping Mouth meant, basically, it would allow his BPack to be more open. Tough Zeke wasn't sure how all that stuff was supposed to work in the first place, the matter is: It actually works.

ABILITIES

— Elite Ability Chest x 3

This is actually a fat prize, however, the price on this things seemed rather expensive. Actually Zeke had tried to reject them but the girl in the Ability shop insisted so much and she was so preety that he just had to accept them. At least he didn't took even more than this, but the downside is... Unless one of this abilities pays for the whole lot, he'll be flooded in debt for a long while.

JUICES

— XP in a cup x 2

— Brain in a jar x 3

— Super Cola x 3

Not as good as expected, but unlike the others, this was a free trial. It seemed like he could get some fair boosts by transforming cards into juice. Also, it's good to test the capabilities of his own juicing machine without having to sacrifice anything.

EGGS

— Crystal type egg x 1

— Neutral type egg x 3

— Venom type egg x 2

— Pyrixie egg x 1

This offer was actually fun to take, Zeke had to think for a while. They offered one off eggs for not-so-common elements, two for elements that weren't so rare but also not that common, and three out of the Neutral, Water, Grass and Flyer wich seemed like the most common elements out there, or at least the easiest to obtain. They also gifted everyone interested in loonies one egg from a narrow selection of fire, water and grass element loonies. Obviously to Zeke, fire was the best offer judging by rarity, so he didn't bother to think about that anymore. Now that he reads the name, he realizes he could have made a mistake, taking care of a baby fire fairy doesn't seem like a good idea, specially not for a newbie like him. But now he doesn't have the heart to return it.

ARTIFACTS

Incubator x 1

Choosing between an automatic harvester and an Incubator was hard, but thinking about the eggs he acquired before going to the artifact shop eased the matter, and the fact that the price on the Incubator and therefore the debt was more lax also helped. Thinking it twice and knowing about the Pyrixie, it seems like he took the right decision. Tough in the future he'll totally want to buy some autoharvesters.

GEAR

Scraped Junkpile x 50

Actually, the owner of the gear shop took him by an employee and he ordered him to discard this cards. Tough, knowing that they can be converted to juice, it seems like a bad idea to discard anything. Maybe this is a case of "The junk of a man is the treasure of another."

TICKETS

Dungeonville 30' x 2

A straight gift, the owner of the Tickets shop was a literal clown who gave him those tickets as "free trials" Tough Zeke didn't knew what they were meant for, and all tries to ask only triggered the clown's hellish laughter. Now with his mind calmer he guessed by the name that he could somehow get teleported to a place known as dungeonville and stay there for exactly 30 minutes.

Zeke was lucky to find the city hall during his city tour. There he could satisfy his curiosity about why the landlords were softbanned. Apparently this land has a ruler who is actually losing influence due to them, but he can't get rid of the landlords altogether because they are too rooted in the system's core that the entire society may fall apart should they get prosecuted just for working. Due to the legal system all citizens were entitled with 5 legendary packs and 1 chest once this events called "updates" happen. Also newly generated IDs are entitled with the same privilege for the last seven updates. Why didn't Victor mention that? Zeke should try to ask that to him later. However, it seems like the anti landlord politics of the king goes as far as to create an update dedicated to everyone but them, and quintupling the basic prize for it.

Now that Zeke had refreshed anything, he says the words to get back home — "Undo teleportation"

And there he is, back home, just to realize that Anewbie and Took just had made it all a mess. But instead of raging against them, he keeps his breath, sits down and looks at them.

— So... did you had a good trip? — Took asks.

— You have no idea. — Zeke responds.

Prepare for a huge opening! Will our dear Zeke get out of debt soon? Or he will get drowned in an Humongotato-sized bill? Let's discover it in the incoming chapters!
