Sleep

Do you know how they say that times goes by when you're having fun? Apparently, this saying also applies to situations where you are worked to the bone every single day.

Every morning:

He Yang: "Up, up, up!"

Jia Li would grudgingly drag herself out of bed before focusing on cultivating.

Afternoon:

He Yang: "Fight, fight, fight!"

Jia Li would run for her life while fighting resentment spirits.

Night:

He Yang: "Fight me!"

Jia Li would grit her teeth knowing full well that it would be a one-sided beating.

Every day it was just cultivating, fighting and getting beaten up, this vicious cycle repeats itself without a fail.

For the first year or so Jia Li walked around with a crazily depressing aura and bloodshot eyes. Her Master loves to disturb her sleep for some reason. It wasn't until later on that she found out that people with a high level of cultivation didn't need to sleep as often as normal people do.

Her Master had a choice of sleeping anyway for fun or to bother her sleep and apparently disturbing her sleep proves to be more appealing. Sometimes Jia Li just wants to pull out her hair out of frustration and then pull out all of her Master's hair too.

On the second year, it was as if she had reached a sort of enlightenment and her Master's eccentric behavior no longer bothered her. Living with her Master she had come to realize if you can't beat them join them.

Otherwise, Jia Li felt like she would be driven crazy by her Master...

4 years later.....

It was the quietest point of the night. Every household was in bed, their candles blown out. Among all this stillness a person dressed in black can be seen jumping from one tiled roof to another, each footstep was deathly quiet.

Waiting patiently, the black-robed person finally found what she was looking for. From the ghostly shadows, a figure silently slipped into one of the houses, but before it could succeed in getting in, it was repelled by a talisman that blocked its way.

Making a low growling noise, the figure leaped back and tried to run. However before it could get very far, the black-robed person unsheathed a sword. The hilt of the sword was pitch black but on it was a beautiful engraving of delicate craftsmanship. Stunning bright crimson flowed through the engravings, forming a coiling dragon. In contrast, the blade was pure white resembling untainted snow, even in the darkness of the moonless night it shone brightly.

Performing a seal with her hands, the sword shook with a murderous aura before plunging straight into the back of the figure running away.

Mouth opened, it didn't even get to let out the ghostly wail that was halfway out of its mouth before turning into dust. Eventually, even the dust faded away into nothing.

After obliterating its target, the sword flew straight back into its sheath.

"Little disciple, you've improved."

He Yang who had been watching the entire process leaped down from his sword. Long black hair flowing as home jumped, he appears to be even more devilish with his features covered by soft shadows.

The black-robed person was naturally Jia Li. After four years of grueling training, her strength has grown considerably. She still couldn't beat her Master in a fight though. Jia Li wondered how her Master could be so freakishly strong.

As Jia Li grew in strength, the low-level resentment spirits could no longer pose as a threat to her so her Master had begun to take her out on low-level missions.

This particular one she that had just completed was about a demon who had been sneaking around at night to steal people life force for its cultivation. Before tonight it had killed two people.

Jia Li squatted down and rested on the tiled roof for a while unwilling to get up. Yes, this was a low-level mission of low difficulty but...she had already completed ten of them in a row tonight. F*ck her sadistic Master.

He Yang grabbed Jia Li's arm and pulled her up. At 15 years old, Jia Li was already up to his arms.

"Tired? Don't worry, this one is the last one for today."

Jia Li looked at He Yang. "Master..."

Immediately He Yang knew what she was going to say. "Nope. Little disciple, if you don't want to get beat up then get stronger."

Hehe, do you think he was going to give up such a wonderful pastime so easily?

"Tch" Jia Li let out a grunt of dissatisfaction. Being forced onto her feet, she took out her sword and began to fly back to Immortal Range Sect, ditching her Master.

He Yang soon followed after her and couldn't help but lament about the past. Sigh.....the smaller version of little disciple was really so much cuter. Now that she can control her own sword, she doesn't need her Master anymore.

It wasn't until nearly sunrise that Jia Li manages to get to bed. Flopping down, Jia Li was ready to sleep without a care in the world but before she could even sleep for a complete hour, she felt someone poking her cheeks.

Groggily, Jia Li was about to slap the hand away but suddenly sprang awake.

"Hey."

Looking down at her from beside the bed was Ling Guan. Over the years he had grown and despite being the same age as Jia Li he was still a bit taller. He wore a white robe with simple designs, his dark brown hair was let loose on his back. A piece of white fabric covered his eyes while a playfully mocking grin graced his lips.

Jia Li stretched and gave a yawn. Since Ling Guan was here then his two Master was probably also here. If the Peak Twin Masters were here then that means her Master was probably busy fighting with them, which means...she has more time to sleep while he's being kept occupied.

Decisively Jia Li laid back down onto the bed. "Do whatever you want but I'm going back to sleep."

Before she could even close her eyes, Ling Guan grabbed her pillow and hid it behind his back.

"It's been a while since we saw each other and all you want to do is sleep? Don't you want to know which one of us is stronger now?"

Eyes bloodshot, Jia Li picked up her sword and got up. Fine, you asked for it. "Don't cry too badly when you lose."
