Marshal Gerardo Agustinelli, of the fictional Hispanic American Federation, greeting an alien.
Che OVNI! or Hey UFO! is a 1968 Argentine film, directed and written by Aníbal Enrique Uset, belonging to the genre of comedy.
In the film, a young Argentinean porteño and his band (dedicated to tango) are kidnapped by aliens while they were on the road. Sent then to Madrid (Iberia), Paris (France), Moscow (Russia) and New York (United States).
However, apart from the adventures of this band in these cities and countries, there is also the element of science fiction and aliens, who interact with the young Argentine band and the national politics of the fictitious Hispanic American Federation (a little of political comedy here...).
A country with its strengths and weaknesses, led by 'Marshall Gerardo Agustinelli' together with an elite of military and oligarchs from the center-right, with some populist measures, from the center and left there and there.
The film ends with Earth getting into the affairs of the galactic community, with the tango band becoming ambassadors for the world community in space.
The first 60-75 minutes of the film are highly praised for their originality and ingenuity in the use of various comic elements, but many consider that it deflates in the last 30-15 minutes (which seem rather disjointed and unorganic scenes).
With moderate success at its release, it has become something of a cult film.
An Argentine-Latin American approach to popular trends of the time in foreign cinema.
