Time somehow appeared to pass more quickly. Reynard awoke that morning in his bed. As the light from the room light touched him, his eyes slowly began to open. The restraints prevented him from moving his hand, despite his intention. The fact that his hands and feet were restrained to the bed's corner had just struck to him. He was unable to freely move.
"Where am I?" Reynard spoke softly.
His gaze shifted to search the room. He had an injection plug in the palm of his hand. A small table and a sofa are positioned against the room's wall. It appears that he is receiving care at a hospital. Reynard was still apprehensive, though. Has the police actually caught him?
A female nurse soon appeared and entered the room. He was carrying a silver tray with medical supplies on it. He moved up to Reynard and gave him a quick glance. "Are you awake? Fortunately, very few people can survive electric shocks of high voltage. On your physique, you didn't even leave any burns. You're not an ordinary human, the doctor said. You possess superhuman strength in some way. However, since that is impossible, let's simply assume that You are a miracle. Furthermore, despite the fact that you are a criminal, the police cannot kill you. They will arrive shortly, and you will be moved to a different room. Be prepared," the nurse stated.
Reynard's IV tube was taken out of his hand by the nurse. Then she checked Reynard's body temperature and condition now. Reynard's readiness for the transfer was something she was making sure of. "Okay. You seem to be healing well. When you are prepared to be transferred, I will let the Inspector know," the nurse stated. She picked up his silver tray and made plans to go.
"Wait, nurse. I want to ask you a question." Reynard's words made the nurse stop walking. He was really interested in learning the truth. Indeed, when that power appears, sometimes it can get out of control. "Is this a police station or a hospital? Did I just fall from the roof of that building?"
"You passed out from exhaustion. Your body landed on a pile of used cardboard." Reynard was given one more glance by the nurse, who then added, "You are located in the city's police department. So refrain from doing anything else or they'll charge you with a more serious offense in court." The nurse continued, then made her way to the door and vanished from view.
"Gosh, what just happened to me?"
Reynard was confined to lying still and contemplating for a while. Life for him is ended. They weren't going to let Reynard escape the law. He'll undoubtedly spend a lot of time behind jail. He has broken countless laws. Stealing, robbing, persecuting, even against the officers. Then he pondered what would ultimately happen to his buddies. How will Reynard care for them all at this point? Despite the fact that they are not related by blood, they are like Reynard's own family. Home is now more than just a place to sleep; it's a great place where we can always count on our loved ones.
Where is Reynard now headed? Without his pals, he will never feel happy. Reynard will soon need to pay for all of his bad actions. Maybe he did look bad in front of everyone. People are unaware that Reynard only did all of that in order to survive.
A uniformed man entered the room a short while later. Reynard was certain of who it was. He was one of the most well-liked policemen in the city. He is truly perplexed as to why there are so many crooks in this city, turning it into a slum. In truth, there is a police force in this city led by Inspector Fredrin.
The inspector walked over to Reynard who was still lying weakly on the bed. His body was still depleted of strength due to the infusion's effects. He was also constrained in his movements by the handcuffs. The inspector gave Reynard a pleased expression. He finally succeeded in apprehending the city's most wanted fugitive after all this time. The most important day of his police career is today.
"You are like a squirrel, Reynard West. You can jump from one tree to another with ease. You are particularly difficult to catch due to your swift movements. Squirrels, though, are merely prey. They will always be stalked by snakes that always follow them from behind the leaves trees," said Inspector Fredrin.
The Inspector's comments received no response from Reynard. He simply gave him a sneering glance. The man was wearing a good police outfit, but all he was doing was making excuses, which infuriated him. Fredrin was not an honest inspector, Reynard was aware of this. His source of income was bribery for the most part. All of the politicians and coal mining conglomerates are close friends of him.
"Alpha, the group's leader, is lying helpless and vulnerable after being caught. Hunters will soon start catching members of the herd one by one. Reynard, this is the end of your herd. They will all be with you later in prison, I make sure of it. Don't be too depressed; you won't feel lonely in prison "the Inspector said once more.
Nobody knew if it was just a coincidence or if there was something strange about the parable used by Inspector Fredrin. If the inspector knew Reynard's true identity, he felt anxious. It will be a big disaster. One way or another, he had to leave this place and go back to his buddies.
A little while later, numerous police officers entered the room. They all walked up to Reynard with the intention of removing him. They lifted Reynard's body and put special handcuffs on him so he could still walk, only with limited movement. Reynard was then brought out of the room while being heavily guarded, and they both passed through a passage that headed somewhere.
Reynard occasionally caught sight of the many police departments that were present. It appears that this is the main police station. After him, Inspector Fredrin moved. He hasn't stopped grinning since then. Reynard was like the prey he had been pursuing for a while. He must be overjoyed right now. He might get a promotion shortly.
After quite a long walk, they arrived at a room with iron bars. The cops uncuffed Reynard and then placed him inside. The Inspector said his goodbyes to Reynard and then he left.
"Prepare yourself; your trial begins tomorrow. I hear that you face a fifteen-year jail time."
