Chapter 2: Weak link

Hearing those words led to huge unrest among the crowd. People were crying, some angry about what they had just heard. Ruis held the hands of his scared best friend Nyx as they observed the guards bringing order to the hall.

"Oh, did I say something wrong? oh, hohoho. It seems as though I have made a simple mistake. Anyways I young ones, by culling I meant cutting the weak link and not killing people now. Hohoho oh my, we aren't that vicious. "added the cheerful-looking man. He wore a black suit with a black tie and a bowler hat.

The crowd had a lot of questions to ask and a lot of answers to find. 

"Cutting the weak link?"

"What weak link?. First they kidnap us then they confuse us even more. What a pain..." I moaned as I sat with Nyx eagerly waiting for information about the "weakest link" to be told

"Now now now, don't be impatient little ones, we have just started this show. You will see everything for yourself" 

The well-dressed man then left the stage and exited the hallway.

Soon a woman came around. She was quite young maybe in her early twenties. She wore a tight dress. You could easily think of her as a typical office secretary. She went to row January and started calling out names

"Alberta Dolario"

The girl named Alberta slowly stood up. She had this intense look on her face like she wished to kill. She was directed to a room at the end of the hallway.

We all nervously waited for any sort of news about the girl.

A boy near me whispered" is she gonna be alright"

"I dunno"I replied with uncertainty.

* door opening

"Next person Wayne Holloway"

"What me??, I don't want to go pleaseee"

He started crying and began begging as much as he could but the guards grabbed him by the back of his run-down shirt and dragged him to the room

"Nnnooooo,pleaseeeeee, someone help, I don't want to die, helpppp--"

*Bang

The door closed and the hall became deathly quiet.

"Now what do we do" Apate whimpered

"We just gotta wait for our turn lol"

putting up a brave face for her was all I could do even though I was shitting myself.

"For fucks sake I don't want to die so early, let me get a shit ton of money, " I thought to myself randomly.

Sometimes it's the money that you need.

Who says money can't buy happiness?.

I thought about this for a long time. Ah I just want to buy the the whole one piece manga collection. Sigh that wont be possible due to alot of reasons actually.

A couple of hours later, one by one the roll call had reached the month of August

"RUIS VALLADARES"

I got up from where I was seated 

I felt Nyxes hand squeeze mine.

"Take care of yourself please"

She's being really cute right now.

"of course I will, hopefully, meet you on the other side"

As I let go of her hand I was directed to the room where everyone else was taken to.

"Gotta be safe, gotta be strong "
