Evily felt like a puddle of water when she woke up – weak and listless. She stared at the white ceiling as she regained her focus. Everything that happened last night started coming back to her.
Suddenly, all the colour from her face drained. She pulled her blanket off and saw that she was wearing pyjamas feeling unwell.
"Sober now?" Someone asked coldly. Evily quickly turned her attention to the door.
"Mr Hudson, W-Why...were you the one who saved me?"
Bruce didn't say anything, but that was already answered enough for her, so she sighed. "Thank you for last night, but…" She looked down at the clothes she was wearing.
"One of the waitresses changed the dress." He buttoned up his sleeve and looked at her calmly.
"Thank you..." Evily said as she hurriedly came down from the bed.
Upon noticing her uneasiness, he calmly muttered, "You accidentally consumed some liquor with something added to it."
"Liquor with something added to it?" Evily's eyes widened in shock. A sense of danger crept up on her.
He leaned against the wall languidly and looked at the panicking Evily condescendingly. "we already caught the man. But It's kind of interesting!"
He sauntered over, backing Evily into a corner.
"Did you try to drink your worries away yesterday? Your boyfriend became your sister's boyfriend."
"Was it her?" Evily clenched her jaw.
Bruce smiled and suddenly leaned closer. "What about me? Are you going to play innocent now?"
Evily looked up and met his deep, bottomless eyes. She was enthralled by his eyes for a moment. The woman shoved him backwards and took a few stumbling steps back herself. "Sorry for the trouble. I have to go now."
Bruce's gaze darkened before he walked up to her and pulled Evily towards him. He then extended an arm to pin her against the wall. He pressed his large hand on her body and pulled her closer to him. Before she even managed to make sense of the situation, his thin lips captured hers.
Bruce emanated the scent of a mature man and his arms and chest that caged her were as hot as burning charcoals—so hot that it made her forget to breathe.
"Let go of me…" She started to struggle but her hand was caught by the man and placed above her head.
"Mr Hudson, please stop…"
Bruce seemed to not hear her.
She bit her lips as a teardrop of humiliation flowed from the corner of her eyes.
Upon seeing the glistening tear, the man's movement came to a halt and his eyes stared unblinkingly at the woman as he panted. After a while, his gaze deepened and he finally decided to let her go.
After she was released by him, she immediately shoved him. Her body was beyond stiff while her eyes were full of terror and dissatisfaction against the man. Evily's arms around her waist froze and as if he had given up, he shut his eyes before carrying her up and gently placing her on the bed.
-----
Evily fists were tightly clenched by her side and her eyes were reddened from anger and humiliation.
"Bruce, you jerk…" She yelled.
Bruce, on the other hand, seemed nonchalant, as if nothing had happened earlier. The blush he had on his face had subsided and his eyes returned to their usual deep look. Suddenly, he took out a cigarette and lit it up, and the emotions on his face became vague amidst the lingering smoke.
"Bruce, you jerk!" His deadpan expression while smoking a cigarette further enraged her. "You are a *sshole!"
Upon seeing her tears streaming down her face, Bruce suddenly inhaled a large puff of smoke before looking into her eyes. His eyes seemed incredibly calm but his voice was throaty as he asked, "Are you mad because I kissed you, or are you venting your anger at me?"
His question shook her to the core, causing her to look at the man in front of her in disbelief.
She lost her strength to even clench her fist and suddenly, she could no longer suppress the aggrievement and pain that had been welling up inside her, causing her to burst into tears.
"How could...he do this to me? W-We were together for...."
She cried so hard and paid no heed to her image at all; it was as if she had nothing to lose.
Suddenly, she felt that her body was taken into an embrace and she could hear a quiet sigh by her ear, making her freeze again.
However, this time, Bruce did not do anything to her. She sobbed even louder in his arms. At that moment, she petulantly did not want to push away the shoulder that came to her and at the same time, she had no strength to push away the slightly warm chest as well.
