Prologue

I'm Subaru Taneshima, a 17-year-old high school student. I live alone in an apartment since my parents work abroad and are often occupied with their jobs. I've become independent and rely on myself, even taking up a part-time job to support myself. Essentially, I'm just an ordinary high school student.

However, as I returned to my apartment and reached the entrance, peculiar noises caught my attention from the other side of the door. I swiftly inserted my apartment keys into the door and stepped inside. greeted by an unexpected sight—a girl with a horn on her head and another girl dressed in a maid's attire.

How did this happen?!

two hours before the extraordinary scenario unfolded, I was diligently working as a waiter in a family restaurant. My primary task was to take orders from customers and ensure their satisfaction. It had been three months since I began working there, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to be part of the team.

After finishing taking the orders, I felt a wave of exhaustion wash over me. The restaurant had been particularly busy that day, with a multitude of customers filling the tables. As I made my way back to the break room

To my surprise, I was greeted by a familiar face upon entering. "Oh? Taneshima-kun? Taking a break?" It was Serika Inoue, one of my classmates. Serika possessed a slender figure, adorned with cute golden hair and radiant black eyes. Her waitress uniform added to her charm.

Interestingly, it was Serika who had recommended me to the restaurant's manager, who also happened to be our homeroom teacher. I never expected such a turn of events.

"Yeah, Just a little bit though."

"I see." She then enters the changing room and a few minutes later she walks out with her school uniform on.

"Hm? Inoue-san, Are you going taking-off early?"

"Yeah, My little sister told me that Mother caught a cold."

"Ahhh, Isn't your little sister also a high-school student?"

"Yeah, She's a first-year, Why?"

"No, nothing... I just had a feeling you are the most reliable in your family."

She smiles. "Thank you, Taneshima-kun. You're really kind."

"Eh? Am I?"

"Yeah! Oh anyway, I have to go now!" I followed her to the back door and watched her leave as she ran to the sidewalk of the street. Serika Inoue lives near the school and the family restaurant after all. Meanwhile, I have to use my bike just to get to school and this family restaurant.

I sighed at how envious I am of those who live near the schools.

Afterward, I resumed my work as the evening starts to settle in. As I walked to go behind the counter where the food is served, the manager approached me.

"Taneshima-kun, you may leave now."

"Oh, Mai-sensei."

She then lightly taps my forehead with her clipboard. "You mean, manager?"

"Ahahaha, sorry."

Just as I mentioned before, the manager of this restaurant also happens to be my homeroom teacher. She possesses perfect black short hair that complements her manager's suit outfit. With her slender figure and glasses, she exudes a mature and refined aura.

"Anyway, you may go now."

"A-Alright, I'll go to the changing room then..."

I entered the changing room and changed out of my waiter outfit into my school uniform. I didn't bother buttoning it up, opting to leave it unfastened.

As I made my way out of the changing room, I noticed the manager rummaging through a box on the shelves.

"Manager, what are you doing?"

She startled, slowly turning around. "Don't scare me like that, Taneshima-kun," she replied.

"S-Sorry... Anyway, are you looking for something?"

"Yes, actually, I am looking for an extension."

"Extension? Ohh! Is it the plug extension?"

"Yes, that's the one."

"Oh, I saw a plug extension in the break room."

"Oh? I see. Thank you, Taneshima-kun... Hm?" She then looked at my school uniform and sighed as she started buttoning my uniform. "Are you lazy?"

"Y-Yeah? Sorry."

"Try looking at yourself in the mirror."

"I-I'll go ahead and do that then."

She then gave me a slight push, and I scratched my head before walking back to the changing room. I glanced at myself in the mirror.

My black hair is getting long, huh? I need to cut my bangs soon, or I'll end up looking like a hentai protagonist... Aside from that, my black eyes and average body figure remain unchanged. I shook myself off and stood still. I looked great.

"Well? Did you look at yourself?"

"Yeah, my bangs."

"I see, then go cut that hair or I'll cut it tomorrow."

"P-please don't do that."

"Heh, I was just kidding. I'm not an evil mad woman who would do that to my employees... But you look good bald."

"Manager!"

"Right, right... Go scram already."

I sighed and waved goodbye as I exited through the back door. Walking over to my bike, I placed my bag in the front basket and settled onto the seat. With a push of the pedals, I started pedaling away back to my apartment.

As I returned to my apartment and reached the entrance, peculiar noises caught my attention from the other side of the door. I inserted my apartment keys into the door and stepped inside. greeted by an unexpected sight—a girl with a horn on her head and another girl dressed in a maid's attire.

What the hell?!

I was shocked, my mouth hanging open as I stared at the two unexpected intruders. Wait, first of all, is that a horn? Are those real!? No, that can't be, and this maid who's just casually cooking in my kitchen!

"Oh, hey!" the girl with a horn greeted me, standing up from the sofa and heading in my direction. "Are you the owner of this apartment?"

"Y-Yeah... Wait, first of all... what are you two doing... in my apartment?"

"Hm? Isn't that obvious? We're gonna live with you from now on!"

"As if! I would say yes!"

"Well, you will have to agree."

"Why?!"

"Errm, Scarlet-sama, maybe I should explain?"

Her name is Scarlet? Why with 'sama' as an honorific?

Scarlet then pointed her finger to the maid. "No! You will stay there and cook! I will take responsibility for this."

"I-I see." The maid turned around and started focusing on her cooking.

"Now then, human... First of all... I shall introduce myself!" she declared.

She then put her hands on her hips and grinned. "My name is Lumine Scarlet. I am a demon lord of the underworld!" She said it with a boastful tone.

Yeah, no, I'm not buying this...

"I see, so there are two intruders who are actually cosplayers."

"What do you mean, cosplayers?!"

"But you are a cosplayer."

"I'm not!" She pouted, cheeks puffing.

"Then, can you show me your 'magical and menacing' powers?"

"N-Not now," she stammered, looking away and nervously averting her eyes from me.

I stayed silent, staring at her. "Fine, I get it... you two need a home."

Her eyes brightened. "Ohhh! You get it now, human?!"

"Yeah, I get it... You two... are running away from home?" I said with a smile.

Her jaw dropped slightly. "Wha-... I guess you could say that."

"Oh? So I'm right? It's okay! You can stay here... but..."

I glanced at the living room, noticing my clothes lying on the floor, crumbs from the chips, and an empty chip bag. "Scarlet-san, if you're going to live here... I'm pretty sure you know how it works... right?" I smiled at her.

"Eep... Y-Yes! I will do that!" She then walked to the living room and started picking up my clothes, placing them on the sofa.

I sighed, standing there and watching these two cosplayers do as they wished. I wondered how this would turn out.
