Hogwarts

The gate of our compartment is pushed open and I saw a blond with two muscleheads peering into our compartment. I knew that my peace is overlooking him scrunching up his nose as though he smelled something awful. Well, it was pretty obvious that we are muggle-born by the clothes we were wearing.

"Let's move on there are only mudbloods and a blood traitor here" He said while looking at Neville with utmost hatred. He then proceeds to try and slam the door but i hold it in place. Nobody just comes in and insults us and gets away scot-free.

"Apologize!" I said threateningly. I knew that I can easily overpower the two fools on his back with all my training and don't even start on magic. I am sure I can woop their asses with my eyes closed. Hermione started watching us with a smirk. She knows how I deal with bullies and she knew it will be a show to watch.

"Get out of way Mudblood, know your place." I looked at this stuck-up fool in front of me. I blocked his way again and stopped him from going ahead."Apologize!" I threatened him again but this time I was losing patience.

"In your dreams" He smirked. Ooh, That's it he is going to get it now. The two muscleheads came forward as a good henchman and tries to grab me. Well, nothing a good uppercut to the chin and a kick on balls cannot solve. A short work later they are both on the ground fainted. Malfoy immediately whipped out his wand and pointed it at me.

"Do you know any spells that can hurt?" I asked while moving closer. I can see his fear reflecting from his face. I am sure I am the first person that really threatened him.

"No" he murmured.

"But I know some" I replied while taking my wand and did a simple version of knockback charm on him which made him staggered and fell down on our compartment floor. I came and closed the door behind me. Now that we are here let's introduce ourselves, "I am Jack Granger and who are you".

"I am Draco Malfoy, Heir Presumptive to the Most Ancient and Most Nobel of House Malfoy, now let me go or my father will hear about this" He looked at me like I am an insect at his feet and It kinda pissed me off.

So for the next hour, one can hear sounds like pig squealing coming out of our compartment while I taught that idiot proper manners which his parents have clearly failed to teach. When I opened the door to let the garbage out I saw many students standing outside, looking at me like a monster. Oops, Looks like I forgot to put basic Imperturbable Charm on.

I looked around to see all people with gaping mouths while dragging Draco out. I then proceed to shut my compartment door. 'Well there goes my reputation' I thought while going back to my seat. Neville gave me a worshipping look and immediately helped me get comfortable in my seat. 'Well at least I got a good friend in return for all my troubles' I thought while I immerse myself in reading my book.

The rest of the ride went smoothly and no one else dared to disturb us. When the sun was about to go down I stood up and went to the lavatory with Neville to change our clothes while Hermione did hers in the compartment.

We waited till the train stopped and then hopped off. I saw senior year students moving towards the carts outside the station. I let Gonzo go free as I knew that he will be able to find his way to Hogwarts Owlery.

"Firs' years! Firs' years over here! All right there, Harry?" I heard the booming voice of a Hagrid moving around the station with several little ducklings behind him. I went ahead and joined that group with Hermione.

"C'mon, follow me — any more firs' years? Mind yer step, now! Firs'

years follow me!"

Soon hagrid brought us to the end of the station where we were stumbled through a narrow path to the lake. Many of us nearly slipped but hagrid was there to catch them.

"Yeh'll get yer firs' sight o' Hogwarts in a sec," Hagrid called over his

shoulder, "jus' round this bend here." I was excited to see the Hogwarts castle as soon as we passed the bend we saw the castle similar to that in movies only bigger and better. There was a loud "Oooooh!". I was shocked to see the beautiful landscape encompassing the castle as though they both are complementing each other.

The narrow path had opened suddenly onto the edge of a great black

lake. Perched atop a high mountain on the other side, its windows sparkling in

the starry sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers.

"No more'n four to a boat!" Hagrid called, pointing to a fleet of little

boats sitting in the water by the shore. I went to the nearest boat to me and Hermione followed by Neville. I sat in the front, enjoying the beautiful view before me as the boat slowly glides toward the castle. I looked at the still lake beneath me and saw something big floating near the surface.

'That should be the giant octopus" I thought while moving my hand forward. As though reading my thoughts a small tendril came out from depths and shook hands with me. Hermione looked terrified while Neville was intrigued. Slowly the Majestic castle came closer to us.

"Heads down!" yelled Hagrid as the first boats reached the cliff. They all bend down except me. the little boats carried us through a curtain of ivy that hid

a wide opening in the cliff face. We were carried along a dark tunnel, which

seemed to be taking us right underneath the castle until we reached a kind

of underground harbor, where we were clambered out onto rocks and pebbles.

We slowly made our way inside Hogwarts. We clambered up a passageway in the rock after Hagrid's lamp, coming out at last onto smooth, damp grass right in the shadow of the castle. We walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around the huge, oak front door.

"Everyone here?" Hagrid asked looking around. After seeing all the students accounted for he raised a gigantic fist and knocked three times on the castle door. The door swung open at once. A tall, black-haired witch in emerald-green robes stood there. She had a very stern face that seems to say 'don't cross me'.

"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said Hagrid.

"Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here."

She pulled the door wide open. The entrance hall was very huge. The stone walls were lit with flaming torches like the ones at Gringotts and the ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them led us to the upper floors.

We followed Professor McGonagall across the flagged stone floor. Soon I could hear some noises from the right side and knew we were near the dining hall. But Professor McGonagall shoved us into a small, empty chamber off the hall. We crowded in, standing rather closer together than we would usually have preferred, peering about nervously.

"Welcome to Hogwarts," said Professor McGonagall. "The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend your free time in your house common room."

"The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rulebreaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours. "The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting."

She looked around trying to faults in each of us. "I shall return when we are ready for you," said Professor McGonagall. "Please wait quietly."

All of us started looking around the castle in silence which was soon enough broken by Harry "How exactly do they sort us into houses?"

"Some sort of test, I think. Fred said it hurts a lot, but I think he was joking." Hermione clenched my arm looking pitful. I patted her head gently. Neville also looked at me for assurance.

"Don't worry, It will be easy" I said while looking at him.

Then something happened that made Neville jump about a foot in the air —

several people behind me screamed. Knowing it was castle ghosts i looked at them carefully. They were pearly-white and slightly transparent, they glided across the room talking to one another and hardly glancing at the first years. They seemed to be arguing. One of them was saying: "Forgive and forget, I say, we ought to give him a second chance —"

"My dear Friar, haven't we given Peeves all the chances he deserves? He gives us all a bad name and you know, he's not really even a ghost — I say, what are you all doing here?" Other ghost wearing ruff and tights had suddenly noticed us standing near the door.

Nobody answered.

"New students!" said the Fat Friar, smiling around at them. "About to be sorted, I suppose?"

A few people nodded mutely.

"Hope to see you in Hufflepuff!" said the Friar. "My old house, you know."

"Move along now," said a sharp voice. "The Sorting Ceremony's aboutto start." I turned around and proceeds to walk out of the chamber.
