13) Heist.....
The week of classes was exactly as Iann was expecting he was able to get a lot done and with his IQ magic did come a little easier. Though it was harder since no every fan-fic was accurate so he had to use his own knowledge to get through classes.
Snape hadn't asked him for more venom since he gave some that day but he did get looks from him from time to time, the only thing he couldn't understand was why a Slytherin girl kept staring at him. Her name was Eve Yaxley, although her family was close to the blacks in the past, because of the war their family was distant since there was no lord.
She didn't even bother to hide her interest either, at meals and during classes she was either staring or trying to be as close to him as possible. Not that Iann was complaining she was a cute girl with light blue eyes almost like the sky and deep red hair that was like a ruby.
Iann had woken up Saturday more relaxed than ever and did his morning routine with Cedric who was looking more fit and started to slowly keep up with him. They did get Dora to join as she was now following them back to the common room, her excuse was 'If she was going to be the best Auror then she needed to be in the best shape' she then fell right on her face.
It was more like she needed to get over her clumsiness rather staying in shape since she was a very active girl. After his shower Iann told Cedric who was buried under a pile of homework that he was going to explore the castle, though Cedric tried to plead for his help.
Iann acted like he didn't hear him though, this led him to where he was now standing on the sixth floor of the castle grabbing his forehead staring at the person in front of him. It was Eve who was smiling slightly while looking at him, she had been following him for awhile now, after he had made it to the third floor she had finally caught up.
The only reason she wasn't with him from the beginning is that she got stuck on some moving stairs, Iann looked at her and sighed not knowing what to do. "What do you want again? Can you tell me that instead of just smiling at me like some villain in a movie."
"Movie? Well anyway where are you going can I come?" She asked looking eager her interest in him was peaked because he was a smart kid but what she didn't understand is why he failed so much in Transfiguration. From then she started watching him and knew that if it wasn't Charms or Potions he was only good in theoretical knowledge.
Iann looked her over and had an idea, "A movie is something that is in the muggle world. I will let you follow me if you can answer three questions first," Seeing her nod he went on, "First why do you want to be near a half-blood like me? Second, Why have you been staring at me so much? And Third if I let you follow me can you help with something that I want to do?"
He had been wanting to get the Marauder's Map for awhile now and knew it was in Filch's office but without a look out he couldn't get it plus he had been using the week to monitor the guy. He was out of his office most the day but it was near lunch that he was gone the longest, though that was still two hours away he wanted to use Eve.
Eve tilted her head smiling, Iann felt a small shiver go up his spine, "Well to answer them in order, I might be from a pure-blood family but we both know how they stay pure-bloods so let's not even talk about that. Second I saw that you were very knowledgeable in magic but couldn't put it to use properly and I thought I could help with that if we teamed up, I might be smart but no where near as good as you."
She tapped her chin pausing, "As for me helping you I can agree if you agree that we can study together, I have a feeling that if we do then we could do great things together."
Iann stared at her the entire time using a skill he learned called 'Eyes of Truth' and seeing that she is speaking it then he decided that he would work with her. If not for any other reason that he did need help with his Transfiguration and while his mom said she would help him during the summer he wanted to make a lot of friends too.
"Alright deal we can work together so now that I have your attention then can you help me break into Filch's office? Actually let me rephrase that can you keep watch while I take something?" He said shaking his head and correcting himself.
Eve looked intrigued and just nodded, the two then started making their way downstairs while Iann explained his plan to her. She was bouncing with excitement as she went down the stairs hearing what he was saying, Iann had to admit hearing her last name he didn't expect her to be like this at all.
She was actually really bubbly and it was contagious, no clue how the girl got into Slytherin but then again her family is full of Death Eaters and wouldn't allow anything else. Shaking his head he patted her head instinctively, though she was surprised she leaned into it with a cheerful smile on her face.
Iann thought she looked like a human version of Snow, speaking of the girl was actually spending less time around him and exploring on her own. She actually came back the other night talking about the Basilisk in the chambers, she was excited telling him about her new friend. She was also able to be in her full form down there so she spent a lot of time there, only coming back for meals and bedtime.
The two eventually reached the bottom with only twenty minutes until lunch so they walked together to the great hall, others gawked seeing them chat like friends. Iann ran into Lina and Sammy in front of the hall and the two stared at them before talking to Eve and actually liking her.
Though the moment they went inside and broke apart Eve went to a cold face unlike how she was outside, she had put it on every time they walked past someone who was in the hall too. After a quick lunch where he received a letter from his mom and Harry he sent Eve a look before leaving.
Outside the met up and began walking towards Filch's office, "Okay when I go in just stand a little away from his office so he won't be suspicious, If he comes back do something to make him chase you or just warn me by yelling your choice." Iann said as they walked closer to his office.
"You got it." She said looking a little to eager at the thought of stealing from someone.
Iann shook his head and after making sure that Filch was gone they walked to his office, Iann nodded at her then slowly walked in. The place was dimly lit with the stench of mold coming from somewhere, there was also some smell he couldn't place but shrugged it off.
The walls held chains and he saw a whip in the corner, sighing he ignored those finally placing his eyes on a cabinet that was in the corner. There was words on it that read "Confiscated and Highly Dangerous" looking it over with his eyes he sighed in relief since there wasn't any charms on it.
Opening it he pushed all sorts of things around before finding the Marauder's Map, smiling to himself he grabbed it and started heading to the door. When he slightly pushed it opened he heard voices making him stop in his tracks.
"He is in there I swear Professor Snape, go and check if you don't believe me." He heard Eve say and he couldn't help but go furious.
Hearing footsteps coming near he backed away thankfully he didn't fully trust the girl, "[Teleport- Location Dormitories]" with a small flash he was gone, luckily the wards couldn't detect him. He landed back in his room with a frown on his face though, turns out Eve did deserve to be in Slytherin she was very cunning.
Though some of it was his fault seeing as he didn't ask her the right questions since she did help him, she just kept out that she would only help for a moment. Snape was probably walking through the hall and she sold him put first chance she got while she was there.
Iann landed on his bed, he had set it up where if he used that then he would end up on his bed every time, the room was empty so Cedric was out doing something. Pulling out the map he looked at it before holding his wand and saying "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
Laying the map on his bed he spread it out completely as it showed the whole castle he was able to see everything even the hidden corridors. Looking back at Filch's office he saw that they were still there searching but started to walk away as they didn't find him.
There was actually a lot on the map but some places were blank liked they were cloaked or something, though it did show everyone who was moving around at the time. Iann remembered some Fan Fics that went overboard with it but when he looked up the background of the map it was just an advanced Charm that made it this way.
Though now he was going to use this just to stay out later so he would know where he was going to walk and where not to go from the footprints that were shown. Iann sat there looking at it for a moment before he jumped into his library something kept bugging him that he needed to get out of his head.
