Chapter 1

Darkness. There was an absence of feelings and senses. Only an alien feeling inside me could be felt when suddenly, a flash of light.

I opened my eyes as I felt a slight tingling at the back of my head. Standing up I took a look at my surroundings.

"Where am I?"

This was not my house and this is definitely not my room. This was a simple room. A single bed, a strange machine on the wall, a wardrobe and a small kitchen.

"How did I get here? Last thing I remember is taking a nap on the couch."

A blue glow on the floor drew my attention. It was a letter. Trying to piece together what's happening I read it.

"Hey Dyne, I know that you're wondering what the heck is going on but fear not for I will explain. You see, I am a god...a really bored god so while I was thinking how to relieve my boredom an idea struck me. Well... it's nothing new really since you mortals have lots of fantasy books about that and this has actually happened a few times before (not from me). I chose and yeeted you into this world. Now I know you might not like it and want to return or whatnot but hear this, I don't really care. But! Don't say that I'm unreasonable, I gave you a gift. You'll find it a bit later so fear not. Also, I couldn't exactly transport you here willy nilly so I just took your consciousness and stuffed it inside this body. Just a tip, you might want to disguise yourself when you go out and as another sign of my generosity, next to your new ID, I left you a pair of glasses that confuse the perception of everything around you so that they can't recognise you or more specifically 'your' face. That's all for now, bye!"

Dyne: What the hell? I got yeetsekai-ed!

"There's definitely something wrong with this god. Still there's no use crying over spilled milk."

Collecting my thoughts I checked around the room and found a pair of sleek black glasses and a watch inside a drawer. The moment I wore the watch a small hologram came to life with my identification and I saw that I was 25 . I found a mirror on the inner side of the wardrobe and checked myself.

Dyne: Damn I look good!

Medium length auburn hair, sharp green eyes and a face that is at least an 8 out of 10. It seems this dude was also working out since his body slim but fit. I check the identification and saw that I stood at 1.83m tall, same as my previous height.

I kinda accepted my fate and decided it was time to check the outside world so I wore some random clothes, the glasses and ventured outside. The city looked futuristic with giant holo-screens on building that were advertising different things. While I was walking around I witnessed something that both surprised and scared me at the same time. Monsters of different sizes fought each other and the people either kept walking like nothing was happening or standing around watching the fights. I saw two people on opposite sides having a device around their hand and then it hit me, this place is in the Yu-Gi-Oh universe.

Dyne: I have to admit that this is very cool! But is this place based on the manga/anime? video games or neither?

As I kept pondering about different theories, a holographic screen on a building caught my attention. It was news about the Duel Champion that's been missing for a few days. As the news anchor was talking about it, they showed his picture.

Dyne: What the fuck?! That's me!

"This is an unexpected development. I've read books about situations like this but... I'm the freaking champion. I can just go to the authorities and claim 'my' position."

I chose to return home and think things through.

"I didn't see any deck when I searched and I don't have the guy's memories or even skills. I don't really think that they would care about a champion that has neither his deck or his skill. It would even cause me problems with reporters. I can just lay low and live my way since I already have a different ID and all."

*Ding*

I heard a sound and a window appeared in front of my vision.

Dyne: Don't tell me, this is the gift that I was suppose to receive. A system? can you get more cliche than that god?

System: If it bothers you host, you can call me Shop and not System.

Dyne: Does it really matter? Can I call you Dave?

System: ...

Dyne: Oh come on, you can be Tech Support Dave!

System: Would the host like to receive the rest of the package?

Dyne: I have more? Sure thing Dave!

System: Would the host. like to receive. the rest of the package?

The system said in a more forceful manner.

Dyne: Fine, fine, I won't call you Dave.

System: The package contains a modified dueldisk a random deck and general knowledge about this world that can be injected into your brain at any moment.

"I guess it's just the essentials"

I sat on the bed and braced myself.

Dyne: Ok, hit me!

Suddenly a feeling of lightheadedness overcame me.

After a few minutes my head cleared and the knowledge was imprinted into my mind.

It seems this world doesn't exactly follow the anime/manga or any game but some bits and pieces from each have merged together. There is still a Kaiba-corp and Maximilian Pegasus still is the founder of modern duels, solid duel holograms exist but they are illegal outside of stadiums or officially sanctioned tournaments, there aren't Link Cards but some Pendulum cards exist and turbo duels are just normal duels but on top of bikes.

Dyne: Cool, so this is Domino city!

System: Correct host, this is Domino city, the largest city in the globe and the center of the Duel Monsters world.

Excitement welled inside me as I thought of the possibilities. I was a huge fan of Yu-Gi-Oh growing up and hadn't ever imagined being inside such world. Now I have the chance to actually be a part of this.

The first priority is to get what any responsible adult should have.

Dyne: So, first things first! Let's go find a job!
