21 Journey

Tiffany sat down waiting for the taxi to arrive.

It had been quite some time before her consciousness had returned to her body.

She was able to have a little talk with Butch and was able to see that he was truly angry about her situation.

Seeing his care for her made her feel comforted and that her decision to contact him had not been wrong.

There were still some trust issues that she had within her from all the experiences she had with being abandoned as a child and from the next experiences she had in the orphanage or from her adoptive parents.

She may have put her hopes on some of her siblings but from her experiences with them, she had come to trust in them only so much that would not leave herself vulnerable and at risk.

What she had gained during her many years of living and spying on others was not a small amount.

What she had could easily provoke the greed of others and past ties could become meaningless in an instant.

There were several times when she had caught someone she trusted suddenly taking a bigger share for themselves or trying to steal everything for themselves.

When such things had happened more than once, it was natural for her to develop more of a cautious attitude towards those she had previously helped out and put her trust in.

What motivated her was not the monetary gains or the power so it was not that big of a deal for others she considered family to want more than what they were getting.

She was the brains of the whole operation who provided help in various ways and helped to gather valuable information.

Her position was very important but there was never really any large risk to her life.

They were the ones putting their lives on the line so it was natural for some of them to want a way to be repaid for their difficulties or to wish for a way to escape their current lives.

Perhaps if they had approached Tiffany first before betraying her in such ways then it may have been something she would have considered helping with.

She wanted to be unlike her greedy parents who would sacrifice any of their adoptive children if it meant they would gain some small sum of money from them.

Tiffany was still quite young and did not have the same upbringing as others but she made full use of her abilities to improve herself.

She may not have been able to attend schools or other places but she had access to different learning opportunities through the eyes and ears of the dolls and toys she had control over.

If she had not been observing and listening in to different lessons in some schools then she was using her recent gains to purchase books that could be read from far away without ever having to move anything to her main body.

The taxi arrived and she got inside and then sat in contemplation about her next plan of action.

Without her ties to her parents and her lack of wanting to return to them, she needed a new way to live her life.

She did not want her parents to suddenly show up one-day claiming ownership of what was her own when they still had legal guardianship over her until she turned an age she had yet to reach.

The journey ahead of her was very long since her present location was very far away from where Butch was located.

The carnival was always on the move and traveled all around England while occasionally making some trips towards Scotland.

There would be times when she would pass through a city where some of her siblings were located but she could not leave the carnival to go see them.

Her past movements were quite restricted but they were no longer.

She was looking forward to connecting with some of her family that remained in contact with her and she was anticipating how she would live her life after she had left the control of her adoptive parents.

The meter on the taxi kept rising the more time that had passed yet there was no sign of shock or nervousness on the face of Tiffany.

The amount of money that had been displayed did not cause her to feel any change in mood like it meant nothing to her.

She may have had no money available to her in her present state but she had already gained a lot more in savings than what could be displayed.

Her green eyes continued to watch the numbers rising as if to entertain herself with something while the time passed slowly through her long journey in the taxi.

She occasionally replied to the taxi driver who was curious about her present situation since she had been picked up in her present state which was quite alarming for most to witness.

All the driver knew was that he had to pick up a girl at a specified location and that it would be a big job.

It would be a long journey but whatever the amount that it would take to get her to her destination, the costs would already be covered along with what would remain as an extra tip.

They expected their passenger to be someone rich and classy yet their thoughts were proven wrong as they picked up a dirty girl who was dressed in old beaten-up clothes.

They almost thought that they were picking up the wrong target until they went over the description that had been given and how Tiffany calmly acknowledged that it was her they were looking for.

Tiffany was unaware of the driver's thoughts but did not care too much since she was preoccupied with many things.

She contemplated how she would perhaps have to leave her other family from the carnival behind and cut off all contact with them.

She then contemplated how she would live her life and how she would use her abilities and wealth.

Her main goals and pursuits had not yet formed but she was free to explore that.

Her body occasionally went limp as if she was sleeping in the back seat of the taxi as she continued to chat with Butch and discuss some ideas.

Tiffany still did not contact the others since it was still too early to approach them and it would be better to let them know about everything once she was in a more secure state.

Hours passed and a couple of stops for gas and other things later at rest stops, Tiffany soon found herself reaching a familiar city that was full of dangerous elements.

The taxi driver saw the city sign then his pace turned pale, his foot stepped on the break as he turned into the side of the road. "This is as far as I can take you."

Tiffany nodded calmly in response to his actions like she had been expecting it. "No problem. Here is fine."

After stepping out of the taxi, the taxi started up again and the taxi driver stuck his head out. "Good luck kid."

After leaving his final words that were full of worry for her, he rolled his windows back up and the taxi made a turn to change lanes as it sped off down the road.
