7 Birth Of The Little Lotus - 2.1

In a dark, moonless night, a large residence located just bordering a small stream by the edge of a forest at the base of an intimidating mountain range, shadows can be seen leaping above the roofs of the numerous courtyards while the distant clangs of swords clashing against each other echoed through the night.

Distant screams of several servants pierced through the silence as the guards were seen rushing to fight against the intruders.

Amidst the chaos and destruction being wrecked inside the residence, in one of the main courtyards where the current madam of the family was staying in an elegantly furnished room along with her only son who was at the tender age of five, as well as her one an only maid as they waited for help to arrive. Several guards were guarding the outside of the room while two also stayed inside.

The distinct sounds of a battle can be heard and they all tensed as the sounds seemed to come nearer and nearer.

The madam wrapped her son in one of her arms as she drew him nearer to her side while her other hand subconsciously tightened it's grip with barely controlled rage on a long sharp sword whose blade had a slightly blue sheen on it.

"This assassins dared to come and attack our Feng family just because the masters are not here?! The gall!" the madam spat growled out in anger, her chest heaving as she struggled to breathe. The thought of someone thinking to harm their family almost making her want to spit out blood!

Seeing her state, her trusted maid immediately felt panicked and rushed to calm her. "Please madam calm yourself, anger isn't good for the baby!"

Pursing her lips, the woman controlled her breathing. When one looks at her, they can see her a breathtaking countenance and small delicate figure to match with the surprising addition of a rather noticeable bump in her abdomen, the only indication showing her pregnancy.

Just as she managed to control her temper, a loud crash sounded just outside the door and the ensuing sounds of a vicious fight resounded.

Spurned into action, the guards inside readied themselves for a fight while the maid, Qing Yuan placed herself in front of her mistress, a spear almost as tall as her clenched tightly in her hands as she looked at the entrance.

Meanwhile, the young boy, Feng Li Zian was hurriedly shoved under the bed by his mother Feng Wan Ting to hide him from the sights of the malicious intruders.

Eyeing the door with a frosty eyes, Wan Ting straightened up and her gaze turned steely. "We only need to endure until the masters get here."

"Understood!" Both the two guards as well as Qing Yuan simultaneously nodded as they braced themselves just in time for the door to be kicked open as a number of attackers rushed in, bypassing the still fighting guards just outside the room.

A fight immediately ensued. Even Feng Wan Ting who was heavily pregnant in her seventh month also wielded the long sword that she held and cut down any attackers that slipped past the others and came to attack her. The cold blue tinged metal of the sword glinted menacingly as it was slowly coated in a dripping red whenever the madam of the Feng family swung her blade using moves that looked so fluid like the water flowing down a stream gently.

Not long after, the distinct cloying coppery smell permeated the air heavily as the attackers were cut down but even as several fell, others still joined in and the numbers of the opponents of the people in the room slowly gained advantage.

The feeling of increasing fatigue and pain from injuries they sustained slowly overwhelmed the madam and her companions, pushing them to their limit.

Each of them was concentrated on fighting the ones in front of them that the guards and Qing Yuan were startled at the sound of someone crying out in pain an the distinct clang of a sword falling to the ground from behind them, a feeling of fear creeping into their hearts.

Quickly cutting down the opponent in front of them, they turned and the image they saw shot fear and despair right into their cores.

It was Madam Feng Wan Ting with a blade pierced right through her chest from the back by a masked assassin dressed in all black.

Suddenly, the man in black, yanked the impaled sword and pushed the pregnant lady away making her spit out blood before commanding the intruders to retreat before hastily disappearing in a puff of smoke while the other attackers immediately retreated.

Dropping her spear, Qing Yuan rushed to catch the falling body of the madam before her body hit the ground.

"Quickly fetch a physician! Now!" frantic, Qing Yuan yelled out orders as she gently brought Feng Wan Ting to the bed and tried to administer first aid.

One of the guards with them immediately barked out orders to the surviving guards outside which quickly rushed off to find a doctor.

Amidst the panicked turmoil an chaos, the pounding of horses can be heard and distantly seen making it's way to the Feng residence in a haste.

Meanwhile in the room, Feng Li Zian had crawled out from under the bed and instead held on to his mother's hands tightly. His pale cherubic face contorted in worry and distress as his big brown eyes were red-rimmed as tears continously fell down. His small body shaking in fear as he looked at Feng Wan Ting's bloody state.

Looking at her son's crying face, Feng Wan Ting felt pained. Softly whispering words of comfort with her voice laced with pain as she took the hand her son held on shakily wiped his tears. "Hush child, don't cry... Mother needs you to stay strong... Mother needs you to help take care of your sibling..."

"But mother-" Li Zian cried out as he hugged his mother's hand to his chest at the same time that a commotion was heard coming.

Before long, a man wearing a general's armor along with several guards as well as a middle-aged man wearing white robes came rushing inside the room.

"Wan Ting!" the general shouted in alarm and fear once he saw the injured state of his wife.

The physician quickly rushed to check the Wan Ting's status while Qing Yuan picked up Li Zian to give room to his father.

"Husband, your back..." Wan Ting called out with her hand weakly stretched out which her husband, the current patriarch of the Feng family and general of the Chidi Kingdom; Feng Bing Wen had grabbed and clutched the shaking hand to his cheek as the physician inspect and administer treatment for her wounds, her body being turned to it's side to let the physician reach the entrance of her wound caused by the sword piercing through her.

"Wan Ting, I'm so sorry! I should have never left you here alone!" the general whispered gruffly, his eyes that looked exactly like his son's were red-rimmed as he struggled to keep himself together.

"Bing Wen, it's not your fault! I- haa..." moaning out in pain, Feng Wan Ting abruptly stopped talking when she felt a searing pain rush through her body coming from her abdomen and her free hand immediately clutched the bump in her stomach as if trying to ease the pain.

At the sight, the physician's eyes widened and he quickly strode over to one of the guards and whispered something hurriedly before the guard ran out as if there was fire chasing him.

Understanding what was happening, Qing Yuan hurriedly pushed the guards out of the room and brought Feng Li Zian with her.

"Mo Jiang, what is it?" Bing Wen worriedly asked when he saw the actions of the others.

"General Feng, I think it would be better for you to step outside and let me treat the madam." Mo Jiang quietly advised.

Feeling worried beyond belief, Feng Bing Wen's anger towards the assassins got redirected to Mo Jiang as he roared out. "No! I am not leaving! Now tell me what's wrong?!"

"Madam Feng has gone into labor... I already got someone fetch a midwife to help..."

Sighing, Mo Jiang quickly went to work and resumed treatment on Wan Ting's wounds. With the gravest one being the injury she sustained when she was stabbed through her back stabilized, he moved on to other matters.

Soon the midwife arrived along with several maids who cleaned up the room from the blood and corpses while some assissted in the treatment of Wan Ting, fetching towels, bandages, herbs and hot water.

Throughout everything, Bing Wen never left Wan Ting's side, only moving away when he was instructed by Mo Jiang and the midwife.

Each scream that Feng Wan Ting let out during her labor brought tears to Bing Wen's eyes. He didn't even notice that he was clenching his hands so hard that his nails broke the skin and drew blood.

After a few hours, the screams of pain from Wan Ting quietened down and the sound of a baby wailing replaced it.

The baby turned out to be a little girl and she was gently placed in her father's arms after she was cleaned and swaddled in a soft blanket and as soon as Bing Wen brought the baby close to his barely conscious wife, the baby's eyes fluttered open to reveal amber gold eyes.

Weakened and tired, Feng Wan Ting softly smiled at the little bundle in her husband's arms.

Breathing out softly and whispering lovingly, Wan Ting lifted her eyes to meet her husband's before she slowly closed her eyes.

"Let us name her Ai LieNa, our love and little lotus flower."
