The next day after rescuing Kuroka and Shirone, Sirzechs called in Rias, Akeno, and Meelis in together with Kuroka and Shirone and let them talk while he sat back and watched them interact, with Grayfia standing just beside him, though subconsciously moving a step further away from him.

Apparently, Sirzechs managed to convince Kuroka and Shirone to join one of their peerages not only for protection, but also to have a home once again, a deal undoubtedly attractive to Kuroka and Shirone who have been through a lot within a short period of time.

"Rias, sorry but I want Kuroka, you can have her sister Shirone." Meelis whispered to Rias, but by the twitching in Shirone's and Kuroka's ears, it would seem they both heard it.

Before they could get the wrong idea Meelis awkwardly smiled and stated, "Sorry Shirone, it's not that I hate you or anything, it's just that I don't want to take you both and then leave Rias with nothing."

"Hmph, yeah right, you don't know that Meelis, perhaps they both wanted to be in my peerage instead."

"Now, now, why don't you ask them instead." Akeno, ever the diligent Queen guided the topic back to the sisters.

Rias pouted and turned back to the sisters, she was not really mad or anything, she just developed a habit of slightly bantering with Meelis since he treated her like a girl her age rather than another Devil Heiress.

While Rias was thinking about what to offer the sisters to get at least one person to join her peerage, Meelis beat her to the punch and stated, "Kuroka, I want you to join my peerage. As you could probably tell from our first meeting, I know a bit about Life Force and even developed my own technique, but I have no understanding about the basics, I am completely self taught, so I want a Senjutsu expert to teach me. As for benefits, the most I could offer you is to teach you my technique if you wanted and Power, I have no money, I currently live under the Gremories, my house is practically extinct, so I cannot give you any sort of political protection, the only other thing I could offer you is my word that I will not mistreat you and that if you ever want to leave in the future I will respect your choice."

While Meelis was being truthful about everything he said, he doubted that would ever happen for two reasons, first, these sisters knew how to be grateful and would not easily betray him, and second, if everything goes well Kuroka would never leave him, and he would make sure she that thought would never cross her mind.

As for the techniques, he truly did not mind teaching some techniques to others, replicating them is really really hard without the special help of his skills even for him, so he'd cheat and (Bestow) them instead, as for which techniques he'd share, well he obviously would not make something like Hakai, he'd only give them suitable techniques, its not that he was being stingy or anything it's just that their techniques need to be suitable to them or else what would be the point, he couldn't just give a flight skill to a fish could he? As for which techniques would be suitable, techniques like the 8 Inner Gates or Kaio-ken would definitely fit their Senjutsu skills, even something like Sage Mode would be good, as for their lethality, Kaio-ken was a multiplier technique so if their inherent base power isn't strong then there's no problem even if they use it against him, and even if they brought it to a high enough multiplier chances are they would die of recoil. 8 Inner Gates has a similar backlash, if the body ain't strong enough they cant harness the full potential, so even if they bring the technique to the 5 or 6 Gate, it couldn't compare to Meelis' own Kaio-ken x10 or even his own 8 Inner Gates (If he decided to make one for himself).

As Kuroka thought about his conditions she asked, "Why just me? What about my sister, while her Senjutsu is not as good as mine she is still a good Senjutsu user and a strong talent?"

"While I don't know how talented Shirone is, even if she was as good as you, I'd still pick you, not for any picky reason, no, it's because in the future to revive my clan, I plan to form a strong Peerage and enter into Rating Games, for that I need both talented fighters and varied fighters, if I only had senjutsu users, while we would certainly be strong, other teams would simply use different fighters specifically tailored to counter us." Meelis stated his goals for the future.

Meelis was not totally lying either, he really did plan to revive the Zagans, reviving the house was essential for his future as he would eventually have a family and no matter the world, he would need some sort of income to maintain said family, not to mention to protect them when he was not around. As for the Rating Games, aside from using it to develop some slight fame or interact with certain characters from the series, he also wanted to have some fun fighting other characters, he had developed a slight fascination with fighting, he had started his journey to become a battle junkie.

Seeing Kuroka and Shirone still being reluctant to the idea of being under another person's rule, Meelis stole Rias' idea, not that she'd ever have known since this is what she did in the cannon and not here, "Tell you what, Kuroka, Shirone, as a symbol of a new life, forgetting the bad memories of your father and of your previous Master, Zeldris, how about I rename you both and you can start your new life and be known by that identity."

While Shirone did not give the sentence much thought since her focus was on the new identity part, Kuroka did wonder how he knew of their story, but eventually just let it go assuming he was given some background information about them.

Hearing that, Shirone's ears perked up and twitched slightly, something which Kuroka instantly noticed and drew closer to her sister to push her in front of Meelis to go first.

Getting Kuroka's hint, Meelis looked at Shirone and stated, "Shirone, from now on you shall be known as Koneko."

While Koneko's tail wagged slightly like a dog's, indicating her liking towards the new name, everyone else, but Rias was smiling awkwardly at the not-so-subtle puns in her name.

Turning his head to Kuroka, Meelis continued, "Now as for you-." Only to be interrupted by her.

"I'm good, thanks." Kuroka decided to keep her original name to remember their mother.

In order to build some anticipation, Meelis had not stated their last names yet as he wanted them to ask first, but plans don't always work out.

"What's their last name then?" asked Rias.

"I haven't decided yet since I want to think of a good last name." Meelis answered back.

"In that case I got it, how about Toujou?" She said as she not so subtly gave Koneko some sweets and a Rook Piece, which the nekomata accepted the bribe and took the name and Evil Piece.

'… I guess some things are just bound to happen regardless.' Meelis thought speechlessly.

If he could read minds, he'd know Koneko accepted both names and the Evil Piece since she wanted her sister to accept her piece too.

Kuroka, seeing her sister accept, also made up her mind and accepted their new last name then turned to look at Meelis and asked, "I accept."

To which Meelis smiled and pulled out his Bishop piece and placed it on Kuroka, initiating the ritual to become his Bishop.

Sadly, while Meelis would've wanted her as his Queen piece for her talent in Senjutsu, she had already taken a Bishop piece, so he just settled for that.

"It's good to have you join Kuroka, let's get along well in the future." Meelis stated full of implications.
