Chapter Three

Yue Yue pulled off her clothes, headed to the bathroom. She needed a shower to wash away all the fake smiles and everything. She adjusted the temperature of the water and allowed it to fill up the bathtub. She added roses and plum blossom essence and dipped herself into the water. She closed her eyes and relaxed her nerves. It had been a long night full of deceit and she had to act along with everybody else unwillingly. There was nothing new that happened just the same thing. Her father had introduced her to many of his business partners and some of the old men her dad had introduced her to had looked at her lustily and she had to pretend not to have seen it.

When the temperature of the water turned cold, she stepped out of the water, grabbed a bathrobe, covered herself and entered her room. She applied her night lotion and dressed up in her black night dress before laying down to sleep.

She didn't sleep immediately, but was rather staring at the ceiling. She had to will herself to finally fall asleep.

The rays of the sun spilled in through the window. It spilled on the beauty on the bed whose hair was scattered on her pillow. She stirred and soon her long eyelashes fluttered open. She yawned and stood up from the bed. She looked at her bedside clock. 'Six o'clock' she muttered as made her way to the bathroom to do her everyday morning routine.

Dressed in a red sleeveless gown with golden waist belt and a six inches gold shoe with golden jewelry, Yue Yue stood in front of her mirror arranging her hair. Her flaming red mid back length hair was curled at the tip. After making sure she was ready, she picked up her purse, phone and keys and stepped out of her room.

When she got down stairs, her parents and brother were already seated waiting to be served. She slipped into her chair and joined the wait after exchanging pleasantries. Her father who was reading a newspaper glanced up to look at her.

'' Mu Yue, don't forget about the board meeting today'', he said still looking at her.

'' It have been rescheduled to hold place this morning, I hope you will be present'', Yue Yue replied and picked up her cutlery to eat.

Chen Ting nodded as he also got ready to eat the already served food closing his newspaper in the process.

Yue Yue and her brother were not the ideal siblings, the two hardly spoke and due to Yue Yue's nature, she had let the matter be, not trying to deepen the non existing bond like most would have done. Shoacheng on his own just saw his sister like everybody else, a naive and timid girl and never wanted anything yo do with her except academically.

Whenever he had problems in his study it was Yue Yue that always helped him out. He was grateful for that, and thus never spoke evil about his sister. It wasn't that he hated His sister, rather it was her timid and naive nature that he hated he wished, that she would speak up when in pain and not allow people to control her but most times he was grateful for what she does for him and her lack of speech and emotions because it saves her a great deal from exchanging words with their father who has anger issues. But the truth was nobody knew Yue Yue's real nature, they all saw what she wanted them to see and she believed that was the best. Hiding her feeling and emotions were her way of masking her hurt in the lack of filial love exhibited by her family.

After breakfast, Yue Yue excused herself and stepped out of the mansion. The Chen's estate was grand and the taste used in building it was superb. Outside was bland but the inside was furbished with taste. It has everything one would wish for, from a swimming pool to a flower garden and orchard and workers where there to take care of them. Once she stepped out she was greeted with the view of men in black. Just like every influential family, the Chen family has their own set of security team for safety. But Yue Yue hated the congestion as she called it but like usual she have never complained or uttered a word about it unlike her brother who is always laying complaints upon complaints of not being able to have a personal time without being surrounded by security. But Yue Yue knew it was for his safety, after all he was the only heir and people were eying the Chen family property, that was why she came back in the first place to act like a shadow. The enemies would focus on her thinking she was their main target while her brother would still be brooding. She was simply a pawn in the Chen family.

Yue Yue walked up to her car, a white BM. Ever since she got her driving licence two months ago, she loved driving to work by herself. It gave her time to think properly, she hated the congestion brought from riding in the same care with the security team. Even if they acted invisible, she still felt suffocated. She was used to living alone and not having people at her service that was why apart from the family servants, she never asked for any personal servant.

A black Cadillac was already occupied by two security team and her driver who she had insisted that she doesn't need but still retained ready to depart with her. She was actually happy that she got only two security team unlike her brother who had up to six, his security mattered a lot.Her father had once told her when she was told about the Security team that she needed them to protect her, but she knew what he meant was that as far as she was still needed, her protection was guaranteed.

She got into the car after dropping her bag in the passengers seat, turned on the ignition and drove out. The black Cadillac following closely behind her.
