A man from earth gets a chance to go to heaven Or fight monsters. Of course he picks the option to fight monsters.
"Mom wait!"
Karen was trying to keep up with Laurie, but even when she was injured she was incredibly fast. Her daughter and husband were barely able to keep up with them.
"No! He can't face Micheal by himself!"
August had left them a few minutes ago to in his own words 'Kill Micheal Myers'. Not to long after, 2 gunshots had went off in the woods, prompting her mom to run over to investigate.
She followed her mom for a bit, with her arriving at a clearing in the forest with her mom. The clearing could only be described as a warzone. There was blood everywhere, staining the grass and the trees. Speaking of the trees, a few of them had dents and slash marks in them. She couldn't even begin to think of what exactly transpired here.
But there were 2 notable things that made Karen widen her eyes in shock.
The body of Micheal Myers was laying in the middle of the clearing.
His neck was ripped open, his sides were stabbed, he was shot in the chest and in his forehead, and had a knife lodged in his skull.
She couldn't help but throw up after seeing the body.
Wiping her mouth after puking out her guts, she saw Allyson and Ray soon catch up with them, only for them to be greeted with the sight of Micheal's body. Ray turned away as Allyson only stared at the body in pure shock, not moving from her spot.
Laurie though was different.
She had stopped in her tracks the moment they had gotten to the clearing, just staring at Micheal's body.
There was no emotion in her stare, no anger, no hate, no nothing. Just a cold hard stare at him.
She slowly walked forward, stopping right at the foot of the body. Crouching down, she took a lone glance at his face, before ripping the knife out of his head. She stumbled backwards, almost falling over, but luckily Allyson was there to catch her.
She was almost lifeless now. Not a ounce of feeling or emotion was there inside of her. Her life's one true obsession and purpose has just come to a close. It was something that Laurie hadn't been prepared for, decades of mental and physical anguish had just come to a close like that.
"Grandma?"
Allyson tried to talk to her mom, but her mom wasn't responding. She slowly got up, the knife in her hands dropping to the ground as she looked up into the night sky.
"He's gone..."
Karen had never seen her mom like this, it was as if she had become a doll. She walked over and hugged her, the only thing she felt was needed for her to do.
"He's gone mom, he's gone."
Laurie stared off at the sky before suddenly snapping back to reality. She was looking around in worry.
"Where's August then?"
They all looked around before spotting a lone figure sitting on a log in a corner of the clearing. All 4 of them slowly walked forward towards the figure.
The figure didn't even see them, but just looked up at the sky.
"Laurie and her family can finally be at peace now."
It was August, but he wasn't in the greatest condition ether.
There was blood all over him, his clean white dress shirt was now soaked in blood. Small cuts and bruises were everywhere on him. A deep gash was on his side, paired with blood that was dripping down his forehead.
Yet the strangest thing was that he was, slowly disappearing?
He was translucent mostly, save for his shoulders and up. The lower portions were becoming more and more translucent. He looked like he was fading away.
"That feel's nice."
With each moment, August was slowly disappearing from sight, now his shoulders were starting to be translucent.
"August."
Laurie crouched down and quietly called out his name. August wearily looked down and saw Laurie staring at him, yet he didn't even look surpise. A small smile slowly formed on his face.
"Spend some time with your family ok?"
"..."
And just like that, he was gone.
Laurie slowly stood up, turning around and staring at her family. There was a new look in her eyes, a happier look.
"Let's go guys."
POV Change:
I stared at the white wall I was now facing, stark contrast to the bloody forest I was just in.
I wasn't really surprised that Laurie and her family found me, it was like a hunch I had.
{Congratulations on completing your first hunt!}
{Rewards will be given.}
"Rewards?"
"Oh yeah, I got a reward for dealing massive damage to the Anomaly."
{Yes, rewards are given when ether a hunter deals massive damage to a Anomaly or completes a hunt successfully. Rewards scale to the hunters current level.}
"I see. So since I don't have a level, the skill I got for my reward doesn't have one ether then"
{That is correct.}
Well it's not like CQC is bad in anyways, it was very useful in my first hunt.
{Rewards for clearing First hunt: Micheal Myers:}
-[Aquired the Hunter level of Initiate]
-[Unlocked Status option]
-[Skill: CQC will be enhanced to level 2]
-[1x Initiate skill ticket]
-[Jonathan "John" Wick preset]
I did it, I have a hunter level now and a bunch of other things.
Some of it was self-explanatory like the hunter level and me getting the John Wick preset, but the others not so much.
"So run me through what the status, skill enhance, and skill ticket are."
{Gladly so:}
{The status option allows a hunter to look at their hunter level, skills, presets and stats. Think of it as a copy of all of a the things a hunter would need to know about themselves. Hunter's can access their status by saying or thinking of the word 'Status'.}
"Huh, well then Status?"
[Name: August Ramos]
[Hunter level: Inititate]
[Strength: G]
[Endurance: G+]
[Agility: G]
[Stamina: G+]
[Intelligence: G]
[Skill list: CQC lvl. 2.]
[Presets: Jonathan "John" Wick]
A blue screen popped up right in front of me, displaying everything that the system said.
'So it's like those status's in them asian fantasy novels then.'
My eyes focused onto the the stats aspect though.
"Can you explain the stats aspect?"
{Certainly.}
{Stats are broken up into letter ranks:}
-G
-F
-E
-D
-C
-B
-A
-S
-SS
-SSS
-SR
-SSR
{Each rank is broken into 3 sub ranks. Ex: F- to F to F+.}
"Ok damn. This really is like those Manwha's I read."
"But why are my stats in the G and G+ ranges?"
{That's due to a hunter's ability to absorb a bit of a presets stats. Whenever you select a preset and go on a hunt, your stats gets replaced with the presets stats for the duration that you stay in the world that you are hunter in.}
"So I borrow the stats and then after I'm down I absorb a bit of it?"
{Correct.}
"What about the CQC skill being enhanced to level 2?"
{Skills can be enhanced when ether you deal significant damage to a anomaly or when you complete a hunt, similar to how you obtain skills.}
{CQC (Close Quarter Combat) at Lvl. 2 the range is upgraded to 3 meters and now is always active. Constant usage of CQC is needed to further level it up.}
Nice, the fact that I needed to think to activate the skill when I had to use it was pretty annoying whenever I was fighting. But now I have a big range and it doesn't need me to activate it.
"Now onto the last thing, what is the skill ticket?"
{Skill tickets allow a hunter to choose a skill from a wide libary of skills. Skills follow the same level system as hunter levels, so they are proportionate to a hunters level.}
"So, how do these skill tickets work exactly?"
{Skill tickets work as follows:}
{When you acquire a skill ticket, you can access the skill library, which contains a variety of skills categorized by type and level. You can then choose a skill that corresponds to your current hunter level and stats. Keep in mind that you can only choose skills within your current capabilities.}
{You currently have 1x Initiate skill ticket, which you can use to select a skill from the Initiate level skill library. It's a one-time use ticket, so choose wisely.}
"Got it."
{Take your time. You can access the skill library by saying or thinking "Skill Library".}
"Skill Libary."
The blue screen in front of me suddenly broke apart into multiple smaller screens, with each screen floating around me.
{Welcome to the skill libary.}
I glanced over at a screen and it flew towards me.
{Bullet time, Initiate level skill: When activated, all things around the user slows down, while the user can interact and use weapons in real time. This gives the user a unique edge over enemies, especially when severely outnumbered, or when precision is required in intense moments. At lvl.1 the skill can only be active for 5 seconds, constant use of the skill is required to level the skill."}
"Huh, that's pretty good."
I sat on the ground, crossing my arms together.
I had a lot to think about now.
What exactly do I pick for my skill?
(AN: Need me some suggestions folks, help me out here plz)
