"Since you're here, why don't you help me set a new dungeon record?" Ye Qiu suddenly said.
Su Mucheng had already expected Ye Qiu to say this and smiled as she agreed, "Sure."
Because Su Mucheng was too famous and conspicuous, it was natural that she couldn't sit at the front desk. So, Ye Qiu set up a machine for her in a corner.
After Su Mucheng sat down, she suddenly remembered that she didn't have an account card. Tang Rou then took Chen Guo's account card from the drawer and handed it to Su Mucheng.
Since the opening of the Tenth Server, Chen Guo has been levelling up there and is not far behind Lord Grim in terms of level.
"Lord Grim, huh." Su Mucheng looked at the familiar character on the screen and suddenly fell silent, her eyes filled with nostalgia.
"Yes," Ye Qiu replied calmly.
"Compared to levelling up, the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella is more troublesome, right?" Su Mucheng asked.
"Yeah, the amount of materials needed to upgrade the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella is enormous. That's why I've been working as a hired hand for various guilds, helping them set dungeon records in exchange for materials," Ye Qiu said helplessly. "But the Frost Forest record was broken by Liu Hao. Although neither Blue Brook Guild nor Tyrannical Ambition has asked for their materials back, it's clear they've started to lose trust in me."
"In fact, Liu Hao didn't directly participate. He had Shen Jian, He Ming, and Wang Ze go to help Jia Dynasty instead," Su Mucheng explained to Liu Hao.
Ye Qiu was surprised, not because Liu Hao didn't stir up trouble but because Su Mucheng was defending him. Since when did Su Mucheng and Liu Hao become so close?
Actually, Su Mucheng didn't know why she was explaining to Liu Hao either. When she heard Ye Qiu wrongfully accuse Liu Hao, she instinctively defended him.
"Honestly, that Frost Forest dungeon record would've been tough for me to break even without Liu Hao's involvement," Ye Qiu said with a smile.
"So, what will you do next? Liu Hao wants to expand Jia Dynasty's influence in the online game, so he'll surely aim to set all the dungeon records in the new server," Su Mucheng asked.
"I'll change my strategy. To ensure that the records won't be broken again, I'm researching new dungeon strategies," Ye Qiu smiled.
"Can I help with anything?" Su Mucheng asked.
"Of course!"
…
Su Mucheng and Ye Qiu chatted idly while they, along with Tang Rou, practised Ye Qiu's new strategies at Burial Grounds.
After three or four runs, they had almost used up all their dungeon attempts, and Su Mucheng and Tang Rou had roughly grasped Ye Qiu's monster-kiting techniques.
"Alright, that's it for today. Are you free the night after tomorrow?" Ye Qiu asked.
"Yeah."
"Then let's do it the night after tomorrow. We'll officially start setting the Burial Grounds dungeon record," Ye Qiu said.
"Okay," Su Mucheng agreed directly.
She then pulled out Chen Guo's account card, handed it back to the front desk, and took out a brand-new account card from her pocket.
Tenth Server, create an account and name the character.
Cleansing Mist!
Su Mucheng clicked confirm.
After creating the new account, Su Mucheng quietly began levelling up at the machine in the corner.
Before long, Su Mucheng's eyelids began to droop. She wasn't good at staying up late; to protect her skin, she often went back to her dorm to sleep before midnight. But now, when she looked at the time, it was already 3 AM.
Su Mucheng wanted to stay awake, but gradually, her eyelids closed, her breathing became steady, and she fell asleep.
Liu Hao rubbed his back as he walked downstairs. Tonight, Chen Guo had been wild, almost too much for him to handle. He planned to make himself a cup of hot coffee to regain some energy, but then he noticed Su Mucheng fast asleep in a chair.
"What's up with this girl? It's a law-abiding society now, but an internet café is still a mixed bag, and she's just sleeping like this?" Liu Hao frowned slightly and walked over to Su Mucheng.
Su Mucheng looked beautiful while she slept. Her long eyelashes were distinct, and her small pink lips resembled sweet lychees, tempting one to take a bite.
Liu Hao suppressed his excitement and sighed deeply.
If this girl had been born in ancient times, she would have been a femme fatale, someone who could bring down a country. Liu Hao felt that if he kept looking, he wouldn't be able to resist.
"Damn it, Ye Qiu is so irresponsible! Just playing games and not even checking on Su Mucheng while she's asleep?" Liu Hao muttered softly.
Suddenly, Su Mucheng's body shivered, and her legs curled up involuntarily.
It was still quite cold in December in City H, and Su Mucheng was wearing a skirt with sheer tights, so it was no wonder she was freezing.
Liu Hao decided to go upstairs to get Su Mucheng a blanket. After all, she was a member of the Excellent Era. If she caught a cold and it affected her performance in the upcoming matches, that would be a problem.
As Liu Hao was about to leave, he noticed several men nearby casting lecherous glances his way. As a man, Liu Hao could sense the hunger in those looks and frowned slightly.
"Damn it, this isn't a bar. Are they seriously thinking of taking advantage of her?" Liu Hao grumbled, reaching out to poke Su Mucheng's soft cheek, trying to wake her up.
But Su Mucheng didn't wake up. She just murmured and curled up tighter, like a kitten, continuing to sleep as if she were unaware of what was happening around her.
Liu Hao increased his efforts, patting Su Mucheng's face. This time, she finally reacted, but only to swat away his hand, mumbling, "Don't bother me," without even opening her eyes before continuing to sleep.
"Hey, so that you know, I'm not trying to take advantage of you. I'm worried you'll catch a cold sleeping here!" Liu Hao said as he lifted her in a princess carry.
At this moment, Su Mucheng felt the movement in her body and slowly opened her eyes, coming face to face with Liu Hao's handsome profile.
Instead of the expected big fuss, Su Mucheng didn't struggle. She calmly asked, "Liu Hao, what are you going to do?"
Liu Hao had to admit that Su Mucheng's sudden waking up threw him off for a moment, but he quickly composed himself and replied, "Don't flatter yourself. I'm not going to do anything to you."
Liu Hao felt as if he'd been caught doing something wrong by an adult, even though he hadn't done anything wrong. The feeling of guilt persisted.
"Hmph, if you're not going to do anything, why are you holding me?" Su Mucheng asked.
"I'm taking you upstairs to sleep. There's a soft bed, blankets, and lavender-scented pillows up there. It's more comfortable and safer to sleep there," Liu Hao said. "If you stay here, you'll catch a cold."
Su Mucheng glanced around, noticing the predatory looks from the other customers. She couldn't help but feel a bit scared. If she had really fallen asleep here, who knows what might have happened to her?
"Whether you're truly being kind or not, thank you anyway," Su Mucheng said.
"Hey, was it necessary to insult me before thanking me?"
"Who told you to be such a bad guy?"
"Fine, I won't carry you anymore. Walk on your own!"
"Hmph! Fine, I'll walk!" Su Mucheng struggled out of Liu Hao's arms and started walking upstairs on her own.
Liu Hao silently chuckled and quickly followed her. He led her to an empty room, which happened to be an unoccupied employee dormitory.
