"Are you sure you're here to do business, not to joke around? Or are these things the usual quality of things you sell?" Liu Xiaolan said angrily.

No matter what anyone says, after the last time in the city she was already a little used to the fact that most shops discriminate against village people, since most of their usual clients are either Shenyang's citizens or straight up nobles.

However, that doesn't mean that they don't welcome other people. At most, the quality of their service will be bad, or the products they show you will be coming from their lowest grade ones.

Only in a few specific cases would they refuse to do business with you at all, but that's for shops that are so popular that they only welcome noble people or their servants.

But this Shopkeeper Wen and his shop? Let's not say being a popular business, looking at the shady counter and no products shown at all, if not for the fact that she needs to go back at a specific time, she wouldn't even want to buy anything here.

And now he didn't even show her their products, but just brought out an old, dirty guilt god knows from where. Perhaps it even belonged to himself before and thought that he could make some money by fooling her into buying it as an expensive thing.

Shopkeeper Wen's face was cold. "Girl, what lies are you telling here? Didn't I bring what you wanted? Of course our Zhouhua Clothing Workshop has better quality of products, but can you even afford them?"

He truly was a little angry. After all, it's one thing if he sells his old stuff and try to push it out as gold, but if news was to come out that Zhouhua's things are only of this quality, his position as a shopkeeper would be gone. Hell, if his shop owner or his family got mad, who knows if they would leave him in one piece…

"So, cheap girl, do you want to buy it or not? I don't have time to entertain you too long for no reason at all…" Wen Zhong's face was cold.

Shopkeeper Wen's real name was Wen Zhong. Just now, he remembered that Zhouhua's madam is going to come over today and look over their stash of products. If she was to hear him argue with this stupid woman in front of him, perhaps she would complain to the master.

Thinking about it, he took back his guilt. "Since you don't want it, it's your own problem. Just don't say that we didn't want to sell to you, since girl didn't want to buy it herself."

Just as Liu Xiaolan was about to rebuke the shopkeeper, someone pushed the doors open from outside and came in.

"Wen Zhong, why are you so loud? What's going on?" Asked a lady dressed in a colorful dress.

Shopkeeper Wen's face turned dark. "Madam, it's nothing. Just a peasant girl making trouble, she can't afford our things but still refuses to leave. Give me a moment and I'll get rid of her."

"Then quickly take care of her, we can't let her interrupt our business. What if word comes out that some peasants from nearby villages even want to shop in our store?" Liu Yimu had a look of disdain on her face.

Liu Yimu originally was a peasant girl herself. Her family had quite a few sons and a good amount of land, so she was treated really well and grew up spoiled by everyone around her.

When she was inside the city, during one of her shopping outings with her friends, she came into Zhouhua and managed to meat the son of the owner at that time. Wen Long was both handsome and had a good family background.

Thinking that if she married him she could quickly become a lady from the city and move away from the village, she started coming to his shop much more than before, in hopes of meeting him again.

After a few tries and meetings, Wen Long got hooked and they started dating. The more time she spend with him, the more she noticed the difference between him and the man back in her village.

Unwilling to stay in the village and be a simple aunt, during one of their trips she planned it well and pushed herself into his bed.

Now that she even managed to cook the rice with him, it was obvious that she wouldn't give up on him anymore. Otherwise, what was she supposed to do after losing her virginity to him? If she married another man and he got to know that she already slept with someone else, wouldn't she get killed?

Luckily for her, the one time she slept with Wen Long was enough to get pregnant.

While the Wen family felt that she was a simple peasant and didn't want to accept her, Wen Long was fooled by her for a long time and already has fallen in love with her. With the threats from their own son, the Wen family in the end allowed her to come into their doors.

After all, Wen Long was the only child in his generation from the Wen family. If he was to leave, the Wen family would be finished. Thinking that their family had trouble with opening up branches, they reluctantly agreed to accept Liu Yimu since she was already pregnant.

However, life wasn't easy for Liu Yimu after entering the Wen family. Most of Wen Long's relatives despised her for her background and behaviour, making her unhappy for a long time.

Because of their constant insults and lack of protection from her own husband, all she could do was to try and blend inside their family, even going as far as almost completely cutting of her relationship with her family in the village.

Liu Yimu hoped that after some time the Wen family would forget her own background, and it did get better after she gave birth to a son. However, because of all these insults she used to hear towards herself from the Wen family, she became shrewd and started despising peasants herself.
