Ling Hao contemplated his plight for a moment and decided to face the music.

He should resolve the incident before they drew more attention.

"Ling Hao is a scumbag among jerks, a jerk among scumbags," repeated Ling Hao. He was so infuriated that murdering Gu Nanyu was not entirely out of the question!

"You had it backward," said Gu Nanyu casually.

"What?" Ling Hao frowned.

"It should be 'jerk among scumbags' first, followed by 'scumbag among jerks'," reminded Gu Nanyu.

Ling Hao was rendered speechless.

It was only after Ling Hao had complied with Gu Nanyu's demand that she decided to release him.

After he was freed, Ling Hao stared daggers at Gu Nanyu.

Then, both Ling Hao and Yi Mengying left. Yang Jingyue's eyes were full of gratitude when she turned to look at Gu Nanyu.

"Thank you," said Yang Jingyue. Then, she bowed gratefully.

Something fell out of her pocket when she took the bow.

Gu Nanyu crouched to pick up the object. To her surprise, it was a student ID card of A University in Beijing.

"Are you from A University?" Gu Nanyu had always assumed that she left school to work at this place.

Yang Jingyue seemed embarrassed and replied uneasily, "I had a disagreement with my family. I am now working part-time to fund my studies."

Realization dawned on Gu Nanyu. The root cause of Yang Jingyue's quarrel with her family must have been the scumbag, Ling Hao.

Noticing Yang Jingyue's anxiety, Gu Nanyu intended to tell her a joke to put her mind at ease.

"What faculty are you in?"

"Faculty of Media."

"Lies! You obviously belong to the Faculty of Medicine," said Gu Nanyu with a light smile.

Yang Jingyue was confused. Then, a smile of realization graced her lips and lit up her eyes.

All her anxiety was swept away.

Fu Beichen continued staring from a distance. Upon hearing the two's conversation, he was reminded of the scene earlier today, when Gu Nanyu was being chased and beaten by several young women.

She had called it 'love affairs'. Now he was certain that Gu Nanyu deserved it.

Fu Beichen turned around and returned to his car.

Gu Nanyu heard the slam of the car door but did not bother to turn around. Instead, she bade Yang Jingue goodbye.

"Ignore that scumbag in the future. I got to go. Perhaps we shall see each other again at A University."

"Your friend has left with the car. How are you supposed to get home?" asked Yang Jingyue while looking at the moving vehicle.

"He is no friend of mine. I am walking home," replied Gu Nanyu.

Yang Jingyue looked at her before pointing at one of the bicycles parked beside the cafe and suggested, "I can send you home on my bicycle if you don't mind."

Gu Nanyu raised an eyebrow and smiled, "I don't."

In the end, Gu Nanyu pedaled the bicycle down the road with Yang Jingyue seated at the back.

Gu Nanyu wore a plaid shirt and a pair of bluish-white jeans, radiating warmth like sunshine.

They had a joyful conversation about the amusing anecdotes in A University throughout the journey.

Fu Beichen was driving slowly so Gu Nanyu overtook him with her bicycle.

Fu Beichen wound down the car window when he noticed her.

Gu Nanyu was humming a song when she passed by Fu Beichen's car. She gave him a side-glance and a wink.

Only after Gu Nanyu was gone did Fu Beichen make out the words of the song she was singing.

The skies are bright and clear, the earth is rolling wide.

This song is beautiful and melodious, the music is roaring loud.

My soul has cut away all reins, even the gods have thrown caution to the wind.
