As soon as the men disappear into the darkness, Neveah stops holding the young man's hand...
"You know who they are, don't you?" Nev interrogates the man.
"That's right ... they are the people he's running from," replied the man.
"Why is the child running away from them?" Asks Neveah.
"Because he wants to live," replied the man putting the child in Neveah's arms and disappearing in front of her eyes. She freezes, and if it weren't for the boy in her arms moving, she probably would have fallen to the ground in astonishment.
_______________
At home, Neveah cleans and heals the boy's wounds following the instructions she received from a friend who is a doctor. Nev called her with the excuse that she had hurt herself at home assuring that it was nothing serious. Nev decided not to take the little boy to the hospital, because that would be one of the first places they would look for him. She couldn't risk it.
The next day, Nev lies asleep sitting on the side of the bed holding the child's hand, who begins to slowly open his eyes...
He wakes up and looks around until he realizes that someone is next to him.
"Excuse me," says the boy trying to wake her up.
Nev wakes up and sees the conscious child, "How are you feeling?" She asks worried.
"Oh! you. I ran into you yesterday, right? I'm very sorry," the boy apologizes.
"You don't have to apologize, we both collided. But, are you okay? Do you feel pain?" She asks even more concerned.
"Thank you," responds the child, "If it weren't for you, maybe I would have died," says the child.
"Why are you saying th—", the doorbell ringing stops her from asking the complete question.
"Who could it be?" Nev wonders, and when she gets up to go to open the door, the boy takes her hand.
"Whoever it is, don't say I'm here please," the child begs with a scared look.
Nev takes his hand and smiles warmly.
As soon as she opens the door, her friend walks in:
"Sit down, where's the wound, huh? Whenever you say it's something not to worry me, it ends up being something serious," Dam takes Nev and sits her on the sofa.
"Dam ...I really ... look at me, please!", Nev takes her friend by the shoulders, "it's nothing serious, you think if it were like that, I would be standing here in front of you" Neveah said looking at Dam's eyes.
"Okay, I'll let it go this time," Dam nods "But, you have to be very careful, especially because of everything that's going on," she adds.
"What? Why do you say it?" Nev looks confused.
"Haven't you seen the news?, but , what world do you live in girl, eh?" Dam responds surprised. "Recently people are disappearing near here and nothing has been heard of them since then, there aren't even concrete clues to help their discovery. I believe there's someone who is hijacking them and who knows, maybe murders them too, it's scary, isn't it?" says Dam trying to warn Neveah, who while hearing the story becomes thoughtful.
"Nev, Nev, Hey Nev!" Dam repeats trying to get her attention.
"Oh, what's up?" Neveah comes back to herself.
"Aishh, you girl need to be more focused, okay?", Dam sighs, "Ah! Look at the time," says Dam taking her bag and standing up, "I have to go to work, but be very careful, okay?" hugs Nev and runs directly to the door, "Call me if something happens," says Dam as she leaves the apartment.
"Okay, take care of yourself too, bye." Neveah says goodbye smiling.
Dam leaves.
Neveah asks for some days off from work and prepares breakfast. He feeds the child, who eats desperately. Nev tells him to eat slowly to avoid choking. The boy nods.
Nev thinks it is better not to ask the boy anything for the moment.
Night comes, the little boy sleeps in the room and Nev is watching television in the living room. The doorbell rings. Suddenly, Nev remembers what her friend told her. She looks through the peephole, however she can't see anyone, decides not to open and when she is about to return to the sofa, a familiar voice is heard outside the door. Neveah decides to open it.
