When I opened the door and saw the cutlery, I knew you were up to no good, so I decided not to make any sound. Like I said earlier, I love smart people, but I won't hesitate to have their head on a spike if they try using their intelligence against me." His voice was as cold as ice and so was his gaze.
Selena's eyes met his, they were icy, red and with his stance, he was like a god, a sinful one at that.
My bad, I was just being curious," she said, trying to form a casual tone. "Why would a book have a lock?" She said, going to drop the book where she had earlier found it.
Stop." He commanded and he froze.
Open it and satisfy your curiosity." he said, and her eyes widened.
Selena opened the book but instead of a note all she saw were pictures, pinned pictures, just like the one she had seen inside the wardrobe.
None of them looked familiar, but they had numbers written on them and some smaller writings. She couldn't figure out what it meant till her eyes came across a familiar one.
A picture she knew very well who it was.
Her eyes traveled back to him and she tried concealing her surprise. His gaze was on her like a predator watching its prey.
The moment their eyes met, it confirmed Vance's doubts, that she was chasing him for a reason, she was not as pure and innocent as his second in command had stated.
See anyone familiar?" he asked, walking up to her to know what she must have seen that made her look at him that way.
No, no one's familiar, it's just that I was wondering if this was real blood." She said, trying to be more casual, her fingers trailing the blood on her mother's picture.
She held back the urge to cry with everything in her.
Yes it is. Are you scared of blood?" He asked, trying to take the book from her hand, but she refused to let it go.
The smell of his cologne mixed with the smell of alcohol and smoke, made her cough, threatening the tears in her eyes.
What's wrong?" He asked with furrowed brows, still attempting to take the book from her.
Nothing." She asked, finally releasing the book.
I thought as much. I am going for a shower. You can join me if you want." He said, staring at her long exposed legs lustfully. " And my clothes look good on you.
Selena tried to control herself, and pretend nothing was wrong, but her mind wouldn't let her. It was filled with pain. Her mom's picture was part of the pictures in his secret book.
I need to know what that book is for so that I will know what to do." She thought, glancing in his direction with a fake smile on her face.
She could tell he was drunk by the way, he smiled back and the way he was taking off his clothes. Although he wasn't dancing and saying rubbish, she was sure that he was under the influence.
It's now or never." She muttered and started taking off her clothes. She was hoping to get answers from him whether he liked it or not.
Vance took off his coat and dropped it on the floor, but the sound that came from it was louder than expected.
His gun." Selena said, glancing at where he threw the clothes. She also didn't fail to notice the blood stains on the hand of his shirt.
It will soon be your turn." She muttered under breath with her eyes glued on him in anger.
Vance yanked off his trousers and entered the bathroom, not without giving Selena a wink which confirmed her doubts that he was drunk.
Selena rushed to where his coat was and as she was about to grab his gun from it, he stepped out of the bathroom.
What are you doing there?" He asked, glaring at her.
I....want...uhm....wanted to arrange your clothes." She said, still maintaining her position but slowly withdrawing her hand from the gun.
Vance stared at her suspiciously again before telling her to take them to the laundry, and she sprinted off, but due to her speed, the gun fell down again, making a heavy noise.
She was about to pick it up and continue her journey when Vance's shadow loomed over her, and before she could tell what was happening, he took the gun from her.
Be careful." He muttered, and left almost immediately. That was when Selena realized that he had been naked the whole time because of the image of him leaving replayed in her head.
She grabbed the clothes and took them to the laundry in their backyard. Memories of how her father would scold her for just dumping the clothes there and not washing them with the machine and how her mother would always come and save her filled her mind.
Her mother would help her with the laundry while they chatted about stuff. It was at that same laundry that her mother had warned her to be careful about men like her father.
Tears trickled down her eyes to the extent of blurring her vision. She finally got hold of herself and used Vance's clothes to wipe off her tears before heading back to the room.
She got to the room and took off her remaining clothes, making up her mind to do whatever it took for him to give her clues.
She stood in front of the door, wiped off the dried tears on her face very well before putting up a fake smile.
She maintained her breath and as she was about to open the door, it opened by itself.
There he stood sexy as sin, a reincarnated one which made her gulp hard.
No matter how she felt, she couldn't deny how good he looked with the tattoos that were all over his body.
She could see the surprise in his eyes and was happy with it.
"Always take your man by surprise at anything you are doing so that he doesn't get tired of you." Her mother once said and knowing she had done such now made her sort of happy.
Ready for a fresher bath, Mr Lucifer?" She said with a slutry voice, walking past him and making her way to the tub.
