The yellow dress

I take her hand and stand up. I feel so happy, and I cannot stop smiling for some odd reason. I let go of her hand right after I stand up. We walk to the anime store and enter, going to get a present for Alex and a necklace for Mark. I look at the necklaces and find some pretty ones. It's also a goth and emo store, so there are some...disturbing ones too. But I find one that I think Mark will like nicely. It's a cheap, simple, diamond necklace that's fake, but still nice. I also find an anime shirt for Alex and walk over to Laureen.

"Whatcha find?" I ask.

"An anime backpack, I think he'll like it." she shows it to me.

"Isn't he homeschooled?" I'm confused now.

"Oh right," she puts it back, "he has a backpack, but he doesn't use it that much."

"I got him an anime shirt, do you think he'll like it?" I show it to her.

"Yeah! It's a nice one. There's another one of the same anime, but different a style. I think he'll like both." she smiles that great smile, the one that makes my heart stop.

We proceed to checkout and talk about the other clothing stores in the mall and what dress Alexis would approve of. We also talk about the style of shoes we should get. Mark's probably not used to walking in heels, so we're not sure whether to get heels, wedges, or flats. We might just trust our gut and pick what feels right. After all, when Laureen seemed nervous about telling me about her dream, I chose to trust my gut. Which means trusting her, and I do.

"So," the cashier asks, "Is this all?"

"Yup!" Laureen confirms, "she's getting the black t-shirt and necklace. I'm getting the white one."

"Alright," they reply, "sounds good."

We pay for our things separately and walk out of the store. We start walking toward the next store when Laureen asks me a question.

"So..." she pops the question, "what's your favorite color? I know, I know, it's a childish question. But I want to get to know you more! Also, it helps me think about what you'd like. I think you'd look good in pink, blue, and red. I can see you rocking that stuff!" Her eyes light up in excitement and sparkle, she seems to enjoy this.

"Haha, it's ok." I laugh it off, I enjoy it too. "I like red and black. I also like wearing denim and leather. I think you'd look good in all the colors. So what's your favorite color?"

"Haha," she giggles back as we walk into a clothing store, "I like yellow. I'm not sure why it just stands out to me."

"Understandable." We browse the dresses and I come across two of them. One is a nice light blue with a knee-length skirt and ties in the back. Perfect for Mark. But then I see a yellow one with a short skirt, short sleeve. I can see Laureen wearing it. I think she'd like it. Perfect timing for a dress.

We end up getting a different dress for Mark, one that fits the description Alexis gave us. We got silver heels for him too. We saw them and thought they were perfect for him. I got another denim jacket for myself. We proceed to checkout and purchase our items. But what Laureen doesn't know is that I got her something. I got her the yellow dress I saw earlier. I'm going to give it to her.
