Sophia Mahoney
A single week - seven full days of lounging at Aden's place has come and gone. To her, it feels like an eternity she's been back to the bookstore. It's the only home she's known since her parents' death, and the one place she grew to call home as a child.
Now, as an adult, to come home to an empty place, one void of her Uncle Hugo, makes her feel totally alone in the world.
Sure, she has Aden and Logan, but it's not the same, not really - they're not family.
Eyes closed, she recalls the first time her uncle took her for ice cream. It was his way of breaking the ice, to help her feel comfortable with him - a stranger of sorts. And by the time she hit her teen years, she'd sampled every flavor in the ice cream parlor down the street. But not Uncle Hugo, no he always had 1905 Vanilla or Rocky Road.
He was such a creature of habit.
