Chapter 7

I found myself yet another dilemma. Well several of them to be precise. It all started when I came back home after my little, altercation with AIM. I had left the area while cloaked as I didn't want to deal with the cops. Not that I had anything against them but, I think it's best that I try to keep a low profile. Well, I mean as low a profile I could keep while simultaneously being a flying, green human glowstick. There was enough evidence within the wreckage of the warehouse to serve as evidence as to what had happened there, except for my presence. I had spied several crates which was filled with dangerous looking tech that would give them enough grounds for a thorough investigation. Not to mention my captives and the burning remains of the mech.

There was nothing else I could do as the other members had already fled using the teleporters with most of their contrabands in tow. And so, I went to school so as not to make my mom suspicious. And it was there I came to face to face with my first dilemma.

I had just set my things down in class when Sam what's-his-name sauntered in front of my desk with that stupid smile of his.

"You know, I don't think that I ever introduced myself. The name's Sam. What's yours gorgeous?" he said with a wink while leaning on my desk. I could only stare speechlessly at his actions and it seems I wasn't the only one as I heard the distinct sound of someone face-palming. Most likely Ava or Peter in my opinion. I didn't get the chance to respond as Sam was dragged away by Ava. I managed to make out "That was too forward" as they went to their desks just as Ms Rushman entered the class room. I saw Danny giving me an apologetic look before the class began and I switched my focus from the teen heroes to my studies. However, what I didn't realise was that it was far from over.

Throughout the entire day, I was approached by the others in there group. And at one point, I started to suspect that they had found out my identity despite my(Overseer's) best efforts. They were trying to befriend me despite never having interacted with me so much in the past. Ava and Luke even offered to walk home with me as they lived in the same direction. All in all, I found it odd hence why I rejected their offer citing that I had plans after school. I did however promise to go with them the next day.

Once school was over, I made my way to a local arcade so as not to make my classmates suspicious, all the keeping an eye on them using Overseer. And just as I suspected, they followed me. They made sure to keep their distance but I still couldn't figure out why they are doing this. Its wasn't like we had any enmity both as civilians or even as heros, in fact we got along fairly well when we first met in costume. Were they perhaps trying to recruit me and didn't know how to approach? It's possible I guess. Either way, I wasn't going to confront them until I had more information but at the same time, I didn't like people spying on me. Its an issue I developed after years of girls bullying and spreading rumours about me. This was my first dilemma.

The second dilemma I encountered was when I eventually came home and found strange men placing several security systems including but not limited to cameras, motion sensors and many more. The reason I said strange was because of the fact that most of they looked too professional to be your run of the mill security company. And I was proven right when scanned then with Overseer to find out that were in fact SHIELD agents in disguise. So naturally, I called Mom to check she asked for the security company's services. Especially considering the fact that we can't afford it. It came as a surprise when it was revealed that it was Maria who had hired them. Further cementing that she wasn't just an ordinary businesswomen who just happened to be friends with my mom. She was either part of SHIELD or had enough pull within it to dispatch agents for our protection. Which left me deep in thought about whether or not to confront her about this.

Things simply escalated after that, as the teen hero group seemed to interact with me even more. The 'security system' was being used to monitor the house so meaning I had to walk around eggshells practically where ever I went.

Thankfully, I still managed to make time by either the use of wormholes or quickly flying away. I also made sure to make Overseer hack into the bugs at home so that I could be a step ahead of SHEILD.

And then, on the day my mom came back home they dropped the biggest bomb on me. Maria was moving in with us and Mom was going to share her room with her. They honestly looked pretty excited about it all things considered but then I guess if they knew each other from college, it was possible that they were roommates at one point and completely comfortable with sharing a bed. Mom had a queen sized bed so it shouldn't be that hard I guess.

Aside from this, I spent the rest of my time searching for AIM and continuing my training. I wanted to master the Green Lantern so that I could move to the Blue Lantern.

It was on one such day that I was simply flying around after an intense training session. Then again most training sessions by Laira were intense. Even the meditation lessons for some reason. She would basically attack at random times while I am trying to meditate all so that I could learn how to focus and remain calm while under pressure while simultaneously attuning my instincts.

And so there I was flying at the half the speed of sound when suddenly, Overseer warned me of an attack from my flank. I immediately placed a forcefield around me just as a laser beam was fired directly at me. The forcefield manage to block the beam but just barely. I then looked around, searching for whoever or whatever had shot at me yet found nothing. And then there was another shot which I blocked once more. Considering the Rings lower defensive capabilities against energy based weapon, it probably would have been better to dodge but I didn't want the beam to accidently hit one of the bystanders down below.

"Overseer, scan my surroundings. Look for cloaked individuals."

[Affirminative]

A pulse of energy was then released and I constructed at visor to check for targets more effectively. What I saw made me bite back a curse. I was surrounded by half a dozen cloaked drones. I aimed at the one nearest to me and fired an energy bolt. The drone tried to move at the last second however the energy bolt managed to hit one of its wings, sending it crashing on to a nearby rooftop.

Upon catching on that I could see them, the rest of the drones disabled their cloaking field and began to fly all over the place while occasionally taking a shot at me. I used my accumulated skills and managed to maneuver around the projectiles, all the while launching barrages of energy shots at the attacking drones.

The fight dragged on as the drones turned out to be more agile than I initially thought. As such I had to resort to a firing energy barrages hoping for a lucky hit. It was a slow process but I eventually managed to take down the rest of the drones. I the landed on a rooftop where the first drone I shot down was still rolling around trying to fly. I placed my leg on it, keeping it in place before hacking it with Overseer. I managed to scan its schematics before I moved on to the Intel files but before I could copy them, the data was wiped.

[Lightbearer, this unit has detected extraterrestrial components within the enemy units. Preliminary scans indicate a strong possibility that theh are affiliated with AIM.]

"So they are still around. Did you get anything from the memory banks?" I asked.

[Negative. This unit was unable to procure a complete file due the sudden data purge, however this unit has incomplete sets of file if user would like to peruse them]

"OK. Show me." I said and Overseer began to display what he had.

Most of the data in those file made little to no sense to me. But then I came across what looked like a part of a payment quotation for a property sale. I managed to to determine that the location via the address on the quotation. It was all the way in Denver but at this point it was the only lead I had.

I was just about to leave when Overseer suddenly informed me about a crime that was occurring nearby. Apparently, a prison transport that headed for the Raft was attacked and now the former prisoners and their rescuers were in a standoff with the SWAT and police.

I swiftly flew over there just as a man in an armoured suit I recognised as the Rhino threw a car at the cops. I manage to catch the car midair by creating a giant green hand with the ring. Upon seeing me, both the criminals and the police momentarily stopped exchanging fire and stood there staring at me.

"Hello officers , thought you might need a 'hand'." I quipped before placing the car down without damaging it further. I head several people groan in response to my little pun both from the cops and the criminals with several people saying 'you suck' amongt them. But I didn't care. It was worth it.

I then turned to the criminals and said. "Now I suggest....." I couldn't finish my sentence as I spotted a projectile approach me from the corner of my eyes and was forced to duck. I recovered in a just 2 seconds and came face to face with my attacker who turned out to be the vulture.

"Best go back to painting your nails girl. This is no place for a child." he said mockingly.

And then almost in sync, the rest of the current sinister 6 roster appeared out in the open. Aside from Rhino and Vulture, the team consisted of the Shocker, Electro, Hobgoblin and Scopion.

My demeanor turned serious as I faced one of the Swat officers.

"Keep normal gangsters busy. I'll entertain the Shitspitter Six until help arrives." I spoke as I got ready for the fight that was about to start.

An: So I only recently found out that there indeed is a Grey Lantern ring which is said to have all the powers of ye Lantern corps except for the white Lantern and Black Lanterns.

Also sorry this took so long. I was working on another fic which is about another beloved DC character in Marvel. I'll finish a few chapters before actually releasing the fic.
