Trapping their targets, the five dummies began to ruthlessly rain down spells on Kevin and Josh. "Shapeshift!" chanted Josh, sticking the syringe, which was his catalyst into his arm. Last time he sparred with Flynn, he insticntively shapeshifted his arms, but he still needed to chant if he wanted to cast the spell willingly. Chitin instantly began to cover his forearm. His whole arm expanded, turning into a pincer of a crustacean. The large claw blocked most of the spells, but it was also shattered to a degree where most of Josh's flesh was charred. Josh was also slightly paralyzed by the lightning spells. The shapeshifting spell only had a short duration, and rapidly changing his genes multiple times could lead to some bad consequences. As his pincer turned back into his normal arm, Josh's knees uncontrollably buckled because of the wave of agony that washed over his whole body. His whole body convulsed, white foam coming out of his mouth as he fell to the ground, unconcious.
Noticing that there was still a remaining target that was unscathed, the dummies fired another round of spells at Kevin. "Bones!" Flynn yelled, as his legs filled with mana. He lunged towards the dummies, a blue blade appearing in his hand without him chanting, but there was no way he could outspeed the spells that were aimed at Kevin. Kevin's gloves lit up as he prepared to absorb the barrage of spells that were coming his way. The two largest weaknesses of Conversion mages were the amount of energy they could absorb, and the fact that they had to adjust their spells to fit different kinds of energy due to the different properties of every kind of energy. The volley of spells that were coming towards Kevin was a mixture of fire and electricity, there was no way he could adjust his spell well enough to perfectly absorb these two types of energy that were very different in nature. He focused on absorbing the electricity, since he determined it to be the more deadly attack. His gloves glowed brightly as he successfully absorbed most of the lightning, but he was also enveloped in a bright flame. Although fire couldn't really kill mages, it had no problem charring Kevin's skin. Clenching his jaws, he chanted, "Energy conversion , Kinetic Energy!" His suddenly appeared in front of a unsuspecting dummy. He slammed his fist directly into the dummy's chest, an attack that was akin to several lightning spells. The dummy's chestplate instantly caved in, as it was slammed into the ground, being crushed by the large amount of force. Kevin's arm also fractured, half of his arm exploding into a bloody mist. He passed out immediately from the unbearable amount of pain.
Flynn, seeing two of his teamates fall, slashed down at one of the dummies with full force. The dummy, not having enough time to react, had one of his arms teared off. Flynn's ring brimmed with mana as he casted Invigorate on the two unconcious teammates, trying to stop the bleeding. Flynn tried to restore Kevin's broken arm, but he was interrupted by a fireball. The massive ball of flames slammed right into his chest, he was blown away by the impact. Skidding across the sandy ground, he was quite winded. The coach watched the three students get beat up easily by the indigo dummies, as he sighed. There was no way that five students will be able to win against six indigo dummies, their performance was already spectacular for highschool mages.
While the three were dealing with five dummies, the two Tech mages were also trying to execute their plan. "Polarized Field," Drew casted, increasing the magnectic pull of the ground. The dummy instantly slowed down, as its weight increased tenfold. It collasped to the ground, struggling to get up. Continuosly pouring in mana to maintain the spell, Drew's face was getting paler by the second. "Hack," Brian chanted, casting one of the most infamous Tech spell. The two could hear Kevin's call for help, but they were still a step from achieving their goal. As Brain heard a large bang, he could somewhat picture the situation, it was definitely not good for his three teamates. He began to pour more mana into his spell, speeding up the process of breaking through the security system of the dummy. "Done!" Brian thought, as he felt that he was able to control the robot. The indigo eyes of the dummy turned white, indicating that it was no longer under the control of the AI. Drew instantly deactivated the spell, as he closed his eyes, dizzy from the loss of mana. "It's all up to you," Drew said, as Brian's two snakes suddenly fell apart. "Remodel," Brian chanted, as the parts of the two serpants suddenly floated around the dummy. The dummy began to equip the parts, as if it was its armor.
With the two taser guns in its hands, the remodeled dummy came to Flynn's aid, who was being chased down by the three remaining dummies. His eyesight was getting blurry, as his vision slowly narrowed due to the loss of blood. He was continously enhancing his body with mana, which made his heart go overdrive. Casting Invigorate multiple times on himself also drained his stamina, he was slowly losing conciousness. "Die!" shouted Flynn, lashing out at the nearest robot. It was blocked by the stun baton in its hand. Falling to the ground, Flynn simply couldn't fight anymore. "At least I tried," he thought, closing his eyes as he accepted his fate. But the paralyzing sensation from the stun baton he anticipated nerver came, opening his eyes to see what had happened. Another dummy that looked quite different had attacked the robot. "You hacked the dummy?" Flynn asked, finally realizing what Brian and Drew were up to. "Yep, he looks cool doesn't he?" Brian said, as the hacked robot was pummeling its previous comrades. The dummies were not smart enough to realize that their compainion had already succumbed under Brian's will. Within a minute, the three remaining robots were easily dealt with since they didn't even react to the hacked dummy's attacks. "Tech mages are really too overpowered," Flynn said, as he finally lost conscious after seeing that they had finished the test. "Caculating Results... S grade," the AI announced in the same montone voice. The coach, receiving the test results, refreshed his tablet again, not believing the grade that was given. "They won?" he thought, he couldn't imagine five amateur mages beating six indigo dummies.
Waking up on a soft bed, Flynn's head hurt. Looking at the time, four hours had passed since the battle ended. Making sure that his mithril ring was still on his finger, Flynn relaxed his tense nerves. Brian and Drew were sitting in front of a desk not that far from him, Josh and Kevin were still lying unconscious on the beds that were to the left and right. Several tubes were inserted into the two, they were in much worse condition than Flynn. "You are awake," said Brian, staring up from his laptop. The two Tech mages were collecting data from the battle, preparing for the next time they end up in a similar situation. "So what did our grades look like?" Flynn asked, hating the silence. "S grade, you should've seen the coach's expression," Brian said. The pungent smell of lemongrass coming from the bowl of laksa on the table made Flynn's mouth water. His stomach growling, Flynn tried to get out of the bed. "You shouldn't..." Drew was going to warn Flynn but it was already too late. Flynn was also put on a drip, so his sudden movement directly toppled over the plastic container that was pumping medicine into his body. "Whoops," Flynn said, as he pulled the tubes out of his body. "I think I'm better off healing myself," Flynn said, completely ignoring the fact that he just made a mess. Casting Invigorate on himself, the small puncture wounds that were used to insert the tubes closed up, and so did every wound on Flynn's body. He was full of stamina after the short nap, so restoring himself back to perfect condition was an easy task. Josh's arm had already healed, but Kevin's had to take a while since it was damaged quite critically.
The fluids that were sent through the drip were potions, which was something that Flynn is familiar with. Potions were special solutions that had the similar effects as spells, like the regeneration potion having almost the same effects as Invigorate. However, depending on the alchemist, the potency of the potion differed quite a lot. The potions that the school used were the standard kind that were used in major hospitals, potions that were massed produced by Eternity. Their quality was definetly not bad, but most experienced alchemists could create stronger potions. However, since brewing potions required some materials that were quite rare, only very wealthy mages would ever consider potion brewing as their profession.
