90 Chapter 89

Not long after the coronation, the dream team split up. Toph was heading back home. Sokka and Katara found their father and left to begin rebuilding the southern tribes. I taught Aang energy bending, so he and Suki left to scout potential Air Benders. Suki and I stayed together romantically but split up to do our own thing. She did visit though because while Suki and Aang were traveling on Appa, Azula, Ty Lee, and I mostly stayed in the capital.

Despite her rousing speech about unity, I found myself spending the next 3 years doing a not inconsiderate amount of bodyguard work. Iroh cashed in his favor from boiling rock and asked me to keep Azula safe until more stable times. I originally thought he was overreacting, but the frequent assassination attempts proved otherwise. I was stuck following Azula and Ty Lee (who are definitely together now) around the capital and where ever else they needed to go. There was a fair amount of traveling, but things got more dangerous the further we got from the capital. Whenever we were on the capital Azula tried to reach out to Zuko, but time wasn't helping him get better. Eventually, Iroh fully retired and took Zuko to travel with him. Hopefully, Iroh will have better luck this time.

Things had been getting significantly better and people only tried to assassinate her when she left the country. I had just started to consider moving on when I received 5 Visitors. Aang, Suki, Toph, Katara, and Appa had all come to see me.

"Good to see you Katara. No Sokka?"

"Good to see you too, Silva. Sokka wanted to come, but he's been super busy recently. He's going to be named chief soon, plus he has to deal with newlywed life."

"Wait he married Yue?"

"Yep. About a year ago." That prick didn't invite me to his wedding. The only reason they're together is that I stopped her from turning into the moon. I'm his ultimate wingman. How could I not get invited? Katara must have seen something on my face because she then said this. "We would have invited you, but we figured you were too busy guarding Azula" I mean I was, but he could have invited her too.

"It's fine, you're right I probably wouldn't have been able to go. So, besides taunting me what are you all doing here?"

"We're going to end the war," Aang said firmly.

"The civil war in the Earth Kingdom has only gotten worse, and It's affecting everyone. " Toph said morosely.

"Toph is everything ok?" I ask

"Gaoling is gone."

"What!? Toph why didn't you say anything. Are you alright?" Suki asked.

"I am fine," She said with finality forcing us to move on. I of course offered to help and go with them. Azula and Ty Lee gave their best regards as we left to go to the Earth Kingdom.

The Earth Kingdom was a mess. It had just kept getting worse. At one point it seemed like things were getting better and the civil war would end, but then King Bumi died. He didn't die of old age, because apparently earth benders can extend their lives just by being stubborn. No, he was taken out in an ambush. His death further destabilized the entire region and made our job a lot harder.

It was somehow significantly harder to end this war than it was to end the 100-year war. In fact, I spent almost the entirety of my remaining time in this world, ending this war. In the end, we supported a talented and popular peasant. He was a well-liked, smart, and powerful earth bender. He reminded me of a less senile Bumi, but instead of ruling one petty kingdom, he ruled the entire Earth Kingdom. Except for the Colonies, because those were slowly gaining independence.

During our travels, Aang and Katara finally got together. Toph seemed like she was feeling a bit lonely, but for the entire journey she was underage so I'm not touching that with a 100-foot stick. Suki and I didn't get married or anything, but I did show her the warehouse, explain who I was, and then asked her to come with me.

"Do you have any idea what happens when I come with you?"

"I have a couple of hunches, but nothing definite."

"And you've been on how many of these trips before?"

"Um. Technically 4, but I slept through one"

"You slept through one? The whole ten years?" She asked incredulously.

"HaHa yeah. Whatever spirit is doing this didn't like that and gave me a punishment."

"Punishment is that something I should be worried about?"

"Probably not. I think sleeping for 10 straight years or anything equally boring is a deal-breaker. The punishment itself wasn't too bad it just forced me to get creative and not avoid all trouble."

"So then... Do we say goodby to everyone? We're never going to see them again." She said sadly.

"Hey don't think about it like that. They have a lot going on in their lives they'll be fine without us."

"You're right...What about Toph?"

"What about her?"

"She doesn't really have anything else. How would you feel about inviting her?"

"I have no problems with it."

Toph didn't have any problem with it either. She barely asked one clarifying question to make sure I wasn't messing with her before she decided she was in.

As the end of my time in the world drew near. We did a final tour of the world so we could say our goodbyes. Then I brought Suki and Toph into my warehouse. There they stepped into the stasis chambers waiting for our next adventure. It was not a long wait as almost immediately the world shifted and my warehouse disconnected from the world.
