Chapter 65: The Birth of a Pawn

A few days after midterms had come to an end, Soren called Nagisa over to the side of class, while everyone else had left the room to go to their next class.

[Uhh… What is it Sensei?... You needed to speak with me?]: nagisa

[Yes… You see, I have some urgent business to take care of, and I'll be leaving Japan for quite some time, and you all might not ever see me again… So before I leave, I wanted to ask you a question]: soren

When Nagisa heard this, he felt a little depressed, as it seemed that Soren was just another teacher who had given up on them as students, in favor of taking on a mission elsewhere, but instead of being sad, Nagisa decided to hear Soren out.

[What's your question, Sensei]: nagisa

[Do you believe in the supernatural?]: soren

When Nagisa heard this, he felt that it was a stupid question, as their teacher, Korosensei was the number one candidate on the supernatural scale.

[Well, yes… I would say I believe, but what does that have to do with your departure, or this talk with me?]: nagisa

[Let me get to that… What if I were to tell you that I wasn't human… What if I told you that I was a God, and compared to that octopus experiment gone wrong, I'm the true monster here]: soren

Nagisa thought Soren's statement was a bit weird, but as Nagisa was in the middle of contemplating his response, Soren raised both of his hands, and in one hand, there was a single pawn chess piece with an impossible color, while in the other, Soren had a small fireball, a small water ball, and a piece of earth, and a spark of lightning that had began revolving slowly in the palm of this hand.

[Nagisa… I am a God, Though I may not be the strongest God, I am still a God, and I want to offer you power that will let you eliminate Korosensei right now, then you can come with me, and train to be a real assassin]: soren

When Nagisa saw this, his brain began to malfunction, as many things were going through his head, before a single sentence registered in his head, and that was about receiving power to kill Korosensei.

'Kill Korosensei?... But he's our teacher… Even if we all actively try to kill him daily, we know deep down that we can't do it and it's more of an impossible challenge for us, and a game for him… Even if Korosensei will destroy the world, he still took time out of his life to teach a group of delinquents and flunkies… Could I really kill him?': nagisa

Soren knew that the subject was a bit touchy, as Nagisa looked up to Korosensei as a fatherly figure, but he didn't know Nagisa felt this so early on.

[Nagisa… Don't think too much about it… He's a cold blooded assassin who wishes for death, but doesn't want to go out a coward… What will you choose?]: soren

Soren was setting up a test for Nagisa, and depending on his choice, will determine if Nagisa will join Soren as one of his loyal soldiers. (A/N: I see most FF's who use Evil Pieces to fill up their harem, but that won't be how this one works, as the Evil Pieces are used to make soldiers who follow commands, not a way to control your harem)

[Uhh… I don't know, Sensei… I don't think I'm the one for the job, maybe you should pick someone else]: nagisa

Soren gave a slight smile, as he tried to test Nagisa once more.

[Are you sure?... If you take this chess piece, you will achieve ultimate power that not even a country could stop… Your skin will become as hard as steel, and not even a nuke could scratch your skin, while your strength will let you destroy a country with a single punch, and you will be able to fly through the sky even faster than Korosensei]: soren

Even though Nagisa heard that he would become invincible, he still had morals that he had to follow that were taught to him by his teacher, so even with such temptation, Nagisa still had to decline the offer .

[I'm sorry, Sensei… But I still have to decline]: nagisa

Soren now had an idea of how trustworthy Nagisa was, and who this power should go too, but Soren did have to admit that Nagisa wasn't the first student he talked too, as all the others were quick to agree, as their greed made them reach for power as quick as it was offered, but Soren declined their greed, and erased their memories about the encounter.

'I have found my first soldier': soren

[Nagisa!...]: soren

When Nagisa heard Soren's shout, he thought that he made Soren angry, and Soren was about to kill him for declining, as he flinched, but still held strong to his beliefs.

[You!... Have passed]: soren

[I-I what?]: nagisa

Nagisa was surprised to hear Soren's words, and then hearing that it was all a test made him sigh in relief, but he didn't know what this test was testing for.

[Uh… Sensei?... What were you testing for?]: nagisa

[That's a great question, my first apprentice… I was testing you to see what you would do with power, or if you would accept power for killing someone who you hold a close relationship with… Nagisa, you are the first student who I tested that would give up the thought of unlimited power, just to save your teacher… So now I want to offer you the same offer as before, but with a different condition… I want you to be one of my soldiers… So, will you accept this power?]: soren

Soren then held his hand out, as the pawn piece rest atop the palm of his hand, while Nagisa was still a bit wary, but in the end, he trusted his teacher, as he reached out and touched the pawn piece, as Soren watched it get absorbed inside Nagisa's body.

'This is the first time I've done this, so I don't know how the transformation works, but this should turn them into celestials, or demigods': soren

Soren then watched as the hand Nagisa used to touch the pawn piece began to glow in a bright multitude of colors as the pawn piece got absorbed into Nagisa's body, and with it, came a bunch of screaming that caught Soren off guard, as he quickly encased the room in a barrier made up of his profound energy that acted as a soundproof barrier.

[Push through it, Nagisa… If you survive this, you will become a being close to God himself]: soren

Soren then watched as Nagisa's body began to glow with a red light, as his muscles began to absorb the rampant energy, as it reforms both his bones and muscles, while his hair began to float in the air, as the energy began escaping from all the pores on his body. Soon, the light surrounding Nagisa began to fade, as his body lay there on the floor motionless, while he had no pulse when Soren went to check his vitals.

[Damn… I killed him… I guess mortals can't house the power held within these Celestial Pieces… What a pity]: soren

Soren then moved to let loose the barrier, and the second it was removed, the door burst open, as Korosensei rushed in a a speed of Mach 20, surprising Soren a bit, but knowing that Korosensei's hearing is quite good, he wouldn't have missed the single second of Nagisa's screaming before the barrier went up, and for 10 minutes straight, Korosensei was trying to figure out a way into the room, but all passages seemed to be locked by some force, and the second he was able to enter, he saw Soren standing just a few meters away from Nagisa's lifeless body, making Korosensei angry. Korosensei then stopped speeding around the room, as he landed near Nagisa and began trying to find a pulse, but nothing was there, and Nagisa felt different, but the transformation wasn't what mattered right now, instead, Korosensei was focused on what Soren had done.

[Soren… What happened to Nagisa… Did you do this?]: korosensei

[And if I did?... What will you do?]: soren

Soren spoke in an emotionless tone as he unconsciously responded, while deep inside, he was a bit sad that Nagisa failed the unknown trial that accompanied the intake of power.

[If you killed Nagisa, then I'll… I'll!]: korosensei

[You will, what?... You'll sit back and do nothing, while waiting for your final year left to come to an end, so the Antimatter inside your body blows up the planet?... You may be fast, and be a little stronger than an average human, but the most deadly thing about you, is the Antimatter that is destroying your body from the inside out… You think you're all powerful due to your speed, but you're speed is really all you hold, and I've demonstrated that I can easily kill you]: soren

The entire time Soren was speaking, he never once looked towards Korosensei, but instead, he started walking towards the exit.

[You!... You're just a monster… He was a kid, what did he do to deserve death]: korosensei

[Monster?... Hehe… You're one to talk… When I look at you, I see a man turned monster, or better yet, you choose to look like this… Tell me, would you like to go back to being the Reaper?... You were one of the most feared assassins in history, but your single disciple you saw as just a tool abandoned you, and this is where you ended up, a single year left on your life, and you decided to spend it teaching some snot nosed brats with no future, all so you could give them the chance to grasp their own future… You know, I like what change you went through, but don't go around and judge others when you made the same choices not to long ago]: soren

When Soren spoke, Korosensei's head just dropped, as Soren was right, but still the one thought going through his head, was that he was a changed man, someone who gave up that life for one person, the only person who thought he was more than just an emotionless contract killer. And right when Soren was going to leave the room, Korosensei snapped, as his speed reached Mach 30, his fastest speed ever recorded, and began speeding past Soren, but to Soren, it looked like Korosensei was running around like a child, and all he needed to do was catch the child by the scruff of his neck, and catch him he did.

[W-What the-!... How could you keep up with my speed!?]: korosensei

[Trait secret… But that doesn't matter, I'll get what I came for]: soren

Soren then took his hand, and plunged it deep into Korosensei's liquid chest, as he began feeling around for something specific, while Korosensei began trying to dissolve Soren's arm with the Antimatter, but it appeared to be no use, as even Soren pointed it out.

[No use, squid brain… Antimatter is just a weaker element compared to pure chaos energy]: soren

Soren then found something, and began pulling on it while he was using his profound energy to pull all the Antimatter into the hard object that was encased within Korosensei, and just as it began moving, Korosensei performed his final move, as the room began to grow a blinding light, as all of Korosensei's body began to shrink, as it was absorbed into the solid crystal in Soren's hand.

[So this was it the entire time… No wonder why it's indestructible for every modern weapon, and even against the anti-sensei weapons… But that doesn't mean I can't break it]: soren

[Don't make me laugh… Nobody can break this ultimate defense of mine]: korosensei

[Yes… No mortal could do that, but I'm no mortal… Sorry Korosensei, but today is your end]: soren

Soren began using his power to crush the glass ball, as it began withstanding the current pressure being used, surprising Soren, but this still wasn't his full strength, as this was just a make up of the God's energy, and antimatter, so with a bit more force, the orb began to crack, scaring Korosensei, but before Soren could break the orb, he was grabbed in a hug from behind, as a small voice spoke up.

[Please don't do it, Sensei!... Please don't kill him]: ???

Soren turned around along with positioning Korosensei in a point to view who was causing the interruption, and in what the both of them saw, was the thought to be dead, Nagisa.

[Nagisa!... How are you still alive?... I felt your pulse, and it was nonexistent]: Korosensei

[So it worked…]: soren

Soren then had a small smile appear on his face, as he dropped the Korosensei orb, and watched as it began to roll away.

[Thank you, Sensei!]: nagisa

Nagisa gave a deep bow to thank Soren for sparing Korosensei's life.

[Don't thank me… It's still not over]: soren

[I know… I heard the conversation… Korosensei is teaching us with his last remaining time here on earth… That's why I want to thank him, but I want to do it at graduation]: nagisa

[I see… Then I guess I'll leave you here, and come to pick you up at graduation… Learn as much as you can from this octopus, as he truly wants to see you grow big and strong, even if it is to keep his promise with a women he grew to love]: soren

[S-So I have superpowers now?]: nagisa

[More or less, yes… Watch this]: soren

Soren then walked over to the wall of the room, and began walking up the side of it, before walking along the ceiling, towards where he was originally standing, shocking both Nagisa, and Korosensei.

[N-N-NINJA!!!]: korosensei

Korosensei began freaking out over Soren's stunt, making him laugh inside.
