Gydion and Suzuka

Chapter nine

False sunlight pierced through the arches of the hallway that descended down into one of the tower's many plateaus. The area was designed with peace and relaxation in mind and as such sported a variety of exotic flora from all over the material lands, From eternally blooming sakura trees to Festive Firs. Little creatures and large predators alike roamed around freely, mingling with the Fairy folk.

In the center of this abundant arrangement of life sat Suzuka. She was resting on the back of a mother bear while its cubs climbed on and played with her. Many of the Fairy folk often saw this and akin the display to a priestess of nature, mingling with the spirits of these natural creatures.

Gydion knew this. Very well in fact. He had watched her for the past three years with a heavy heart.

~Why was everyone just allowing this? She is the kin of one of our greatest enemies... ~

He felt she was someone who did not deserve to exist in the same place as this utopic view. He still thought those things, even as he stayed hidden around a massive oak, doing his best to avoid confronting the command given to him.

~How could master Cain do this to me?~ He thought, clenching his fist so hard that cracks were forming on the tips of his fingers.

Suddenly he heard laughing burst out into the atmosphere. He peeked out from behind the tree and squinted harshly at the sight.

Suzuka was laughing while jumping really high. Gydion chalked it up to her finally understanding how to properly use that sickening amount of mana she had inside her body.

~How is she even alive?~

The mother bear and its cubs had begun to walk away after Suzuka cuddled their faces and gave them kisses on the forehead.

Gydion knew though. That all this was just an act. One day, she would grow strong and then strike out at everything around her like the mad dogs of her bloodline. She was just a ticking time bomb.

He nodded to himself.

~As long as I can keep this in mind, I'll be ready to put her down when it happens~

He ran the top of his fingers against the bottom of his head and stepped out, slightly nervous.

The only thing was, he no longer saw Suzuka.

Gydions eyes scanned the area in front of him but found no trace of her.

"So what were you standing behind that tree for?"

Gydion was so startled that he could feel a non-existent heart pop out of his chest.

He turned his head around and saw Suzuka standing there, playing with her ankle-long black hair.

He fought back the urge to contort his face in hatred and instead managed to keep it neutral.

"Ah, nothing. I was just… I was just taking a quick breather from my daily duties is all!" He was lying. He had nothing to do aside from study and laps, which were both finished for this day.

"But you were staring at me. Are you trying to beat me again? I don't need to remind you what happened last time." She said as she wagged her upturned hand up and down while the other rested on her hip.

He was all too familiar with the punishment and disgrace he had brought on himself as a result of his actions.

"Ahaha. So you saw. The truth is, I've actually got something to tell you."

Surprised, Suzuka took a step back and folded her hands over her chest.

~What is that look for? Is it really so surprising?~

"Well? Go ahead and tell me."

~This brat…!~ he thought to himself before promptly squashing that feeling.

"Yes, well. As of today, I've been assigned to become your servant for the duration of two centuries."

Suzuka closed her eyes and tilted the top half of her body backward, letting her black hair touch the ground. She stayed like this for a few minutes, only barely moving her brow as she thought. She shot back up with a smile and placed her hand on Gydions shoulder. The size of her K-nines disturbed him every time he saw them. To Gydion, they were confirmation of her beastly ancestry.

"Well then. I don't know what you did to earn such a punishment, but I won't make it difficult for you!"

Gydion downturned his face to the left and looked at her with skepticism. He had not expected that response and was wary as a result.

Suzuka took notice of this and released her hand from his shoulder. She instead took her wild hair into her hands and made it into a ponytail.

"I can understand why you'd be wary of me, but I've honestly got no ill will against you. Grandma told me that people would struggle to accept me due to my body, so I can't blame you. All I can do is make it so that you don't hate me for being awesome."

~What is wrong with this girl? Is she stupid? Does she think that she can truly win over people with just her personality? Naive.~ He thought to himself as he again brushed the bottom of his head with the top of his fingers.

~Well, it doesn't matter. I just need to follow her and make sure her desires are met, which should be especially easy if she keeps to her word.~

Suzuka began to stretch her arms and legs, pulling them from side to side and leaning down on one, and switching to the other.

~What is she doing?~ He said as he watched her in confusion.

She took notice of his stare but instead decided not to comment on it. She knew that the Fairies of the abyss had little knowledge of how organic bodies worked.

Once done Suzuka tied up her draping sleeves from her robe with white rope and made to walk out of the relaxation grove.

Ten. Twenty. Thirty. Forty meters.

Suzuka looked back at Gydion, who had not moved from the spot by the oak, and beckoned him over with a wide arc of her left arm.

Already exasperated by his new duty, Gydion ruffled his hair and began to follow her.

Minutes later:

The two walked together for a while through the halls of the tower, occasionally getting worried stares and whispers.

"What are those two doing together?"

"Isn't that the son of Warmaster Lugh? Why is he walking with the horned fleshling?"

"Poor Lugh. His son is such a fool. After what he did he has the audacity to continue to harass that girl?"

These words stung Gydion harshly.

~They don't even know what they're talking about…! They should just mind their own damn business!~

His face was giving way to his emotions and began to contort as such. The comments stopped and instead were replaced with frightened glances and quickened paces.

Unknown to Gydion, his emotions were not just showing on his face, but on the natural energy that had been flowing away from his body as a result of his anger.

Suzuka was blissfully ignorant of Gydion's feelings. She didn't know what it felt like to feel nature energy, so she did not notice the seething pool of anger behind her the entire time.

Soon the hallway gave way to a room of portals, each one leading to different parts of the world.

Confused, Gydion reached out to turn Suzuka around. He knew well enough that she had been confined to the tower ever since the incident and was certain that also meant the portal room.

Before Gydion could touch her though, Suzuka filled her body with mana once more and sprinted.

Dust shot up from the ground as she giggled stupidly while sprinting. Gydion was instead mortified by the display. Even more so as she cleared half of the room. He rushed after her, not even sparing the time to think.

================================================================

Inside Suzuka's mind:

I can't believe it! I'm kinda insanely fast! This body enhancement stuff is really amazing! I'm able to clear half the room in less than ten seconds! That's like… um... a little under three hundred feet? This is really a fantasy world!

~That's all well and good but don't overdo it with our body.~

Eh? Why? And wait. Since when did you start talking to me outside of my dreams?

~We exist in the same body if you remember. Also, I just started, our souls are merged close enough for me to be able to do this.~

Huh… Makes sense I guess. Well, I guess I should stop. I don't wanna actually use the teleportation disks in this room after all. Grandma would kill the hell out of me if I did.

~Look at you. Restraining yourself. I half-expected you to disregard that and do six-year-old things.~

Hey! What is that supposed to mean? I've gotten the majority of my personality from you so you should know better!

~That is precisely why.~

In reality:

I stopped running right towards the end of the room's length and looked back. I could see Gydion trying his best in the distance. I kneeled down and began to fiddle with my straw sandals a bit as they got damaged from the sprint.

"Ahhh. Isaea is gonna be sad…" I said aloud.

~She didn't like it when I broke/tore clothes she made for me. Made enough sense as well. I'd totally be mad if I put time and effort into something only for them to carelessly break it. Still, it was only the threading on the side of the sandals that were frayed. Nothing unfixable.~

I took in a breath of relaxation as I stood up. Gydion was standing there, hunched over.

~If I recall correctly, Gydion was gifted with liquid Iron in his body that he could manipulate. That's honestly too cool! I lowered my hand down and patted his back.~

"Are you okay? I'm sorry for running off like that. I just got so excited that this mana buff thing worked that I lost a bit of self-control. I hope you won't hold it against me."

~Oooh. He tensed up as soon as I touched him…! Could he really be mad?~

"It's okay. I thought you were going to run into one of the portals so I was worried. Why don't we go ahead and get you back to the Grand Magus. I'm sure she is wondering where you are." He said as he stood up.

~He doesn't look mad… And he does have a point…!~

I nodded and began to walk towards the exit of the Tele-disk hall with Gydion in tow.

~I wonder if Grandma will praise me? She hadn't let me try anything to do with magic these past few years so I hope so!~

It took a bit of time, but we managed to make it back to home with no hassle, aside from me dodging master Cain. If he had his way, we'd be right back in the training room doing unreasonable limit testing again and I wanted negative parts of that.

Gydion stayed pretty quiet the entire time. The only time I noticed his expression changed at all was when we had entered the study. I guess he had never been here before so it was amazing, but for me, this was home. The floral scent of the forest, the array of books to study, and best of all the super fantasy Gyrosphere in the center of the room. Truly this was wonderful.

As if to break me out of my thoughts, a screaming match between two giants reverberated throughout the study.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'LL BE MAKING MY SON SERVE THAT DEMON WENCH"

It's time for me to retroactively rename all the chapters! I hope that his chapter was enjoyable for everyone! Thanks for coming by.
