18 Chapter 17 - Tomo's Dream...

"My dream... is to... fly, fly... threw the... sky."

Flying, huh? That's an exciting dream. Well, as someone who couldn't fly or do magic in my past life, I can relate to her somewhat.

"That's a nice dream. Is there anywhere specific you had in mind?"

"..."

She pauses for a minute. Oops... That might have been a little too personal. I was about to apologize to her and tell her to forget what I ask; however, she begins to speak.

"There... is someone... who I'm... looking for. Flying seems... like the best... solution."

Ah, her dream isn't flying necessary, but rather to find this person. Maybe she has a lost sibling or a lover who is off at sea. Well, I better not press anymore.

"Well, I can't help with finding that person, but I can at least show you the feeling of flying. There might be a chance I could teach you how to cast flight magic, but a small chance."

Tomo's eyes lit up with sparkles.

"Really?!"

Tomo poses like a child who wants a toy and got it. 'Man, she wants to fly or rather find this person...'

I could be wrong. She might want to see how flying is. Nevertheless, she's cute when she is like this... Huh? Stap out of it!

"Y-yeah... Here, take my hand, and I'll show you."

Tomo grabs onto my hands. Once we were attached, I activate the spell. '[Fly]!'

At that moment, we begin to lift off of the ground. Tomo's eyes start to sparkle even more.

"Look! W-we... we're... flying!"

I silently laugh at Tomo. She like a little child when they discovered the joy of a rollercoaster. This brings back some memories. She's like how I reacted when I learned to fly.

Once we were 30 meters above the ground, we could see everything in Elvania. I could see the school, the council's tree, and the gate where I entered yesterday.

"It's... so beautiful..."

Tomo is speechless as she takes in the beauty. I give her a small smile, and begin to move slowly, threw the sky.

Once we flew for about 30 minutes, I began to land us back onto the roof when something catches my eyes. 'Huh, is that smoke?'

I use magic to enchant my vision. Then, I zoom onto the smoke. By the tell of it, it seems like a forest fire broke out. No, wait. There are humans at the scene. They probably started the fire.

Hmm... They are about a kilometer away. I should interfere and stop this fire before something terrible happens.

We descend to the roof of the school. Once we landed, I let go of Tomo.

"Sorry to cut our time short, but I have some business to attend to. How about I teach you how to fly tomorrow?"

"Huh? Oh... Okay."

She nods. I wave goodbye to her and launch off the ground into the sky. I activated my flying magic and flew toward the smoke. I could enable the hidden spell, but instead, I used that unique trick with barrier magic.

I cloak myself in barrier magic, changing the properties. Once I was finished, the barrier cloaked me and made me appear invisible. 'Nice! It worked.'

Barrier magic has a couple of unique properties, other than protection. These books of mine have useful information.

After reaching the fire area, I began to hear two men and their conversation.

"Hmm... Are you sure we should continue?"

"Yes, now more burning and less talking."

"B-but... It might be years before we find anything. We don't have that many supplies, so we'll run out fast. Plus, once the elves realize that we're coming, they'll move away."

"Shut up! The stupid elves know nothing. Besides, this is a quest from the guild. Remember?"

"Of course, I remember. We're supposed to burn a portion of the devil's den in hopes of finding Elvania. If we do find the elves, we get a bonus if we report it to the guild, or if we destroy it, we get a much higher reward. Even if we do find it, we shouldn't try to destroy them... They have highly train magicians who can destroy us in a matter of seconds."

"Are you an idiot?! You say forget about the bonus, but that bonus is TEN THOUSAND PLATINUM COINS!!! Plus, we get the honors to marry a noble's daughter and get even more money!"

"Well, don't you think that it's too 'convenient?' I mean, who has that many coins in this day and age?"

"It's from the guild! Anything from the guild is official and must go threw a vigorous examination. Now, less talking and more burning!"

Hmm... It seems like they aren't attacking me directly, but they are still damaging lands that aren't theirs. I don't mean the savior or anything, but they could end up destroying my cave... again! I better stop them now before anything happens.

I switched my barrier from invisible to a protective one. My body starts to tremble and starts glowing in a blue hue. This is just like then...

Well, who cares!? These two... They are burning this forest... NO! My forest! They could find my new cave and destroy it, just like last time. I have to stop them! I have to eliminate them... I begin to shout at them.

"You two! Yall who have destory my forest! You all will be punished for this crime. Since you like the fire that much, I'll give you a closer inspection of it."

The men look behind them with eyes widen. They both instantly started trembling the moment they saw me. I ignore there faces and bodies. I hold out my hand, cast a huge magic circle.

Just like before, I adjusted the circle just like the meteorite, but instead a smaller version of it. The circle glowed like my body and face. It grows and grows until I finish the spell. Then, I unleashed it onto them.

A blueish ball of fire forms in the sky and starts falling onto the men. I used barrier magic to freeze them into place. The ball descends quicker and quicker until it lands onto them.

The ball squishes onto the ground, creating a loud 'booming' sound. Blue flames went everywhere, hiding the two figures. Once the explosion and flames disperse, all that was left was an enormous creator.

My body relaxes after that. The glowing also stopped. "Phew..."

I might think of went too far. I mean, I did more damage then they did. Well, I'll clean up later. I need to relax at home... I cast [teleport] and teleported home.
