TGP : The Burning Inn

She had only taken five big steps when a pair of hands caught her.

"Lady! You can't! Those children can't make it out!" Twelve hugged her from behind.

Li Amm looked at him with cold eyes. "I hear them crying out. It means they were not yet burned to death. They are still alive." She pushed his hands with all her might. But Twelve's strong grip did not budge.

"Lady, it's suicide."

Li Amm stilled. Of course, she knew that she could not do it alone with her pampered self. Throwing herself into the fire was not her forte. But she couldn't leave them when the children were still alive. Their cries of help were prickling her conscience.

She stared at his dark eyes, "That's why you are going with me."

Twelve shook his head. Li Amm was really annoyed right now. Every single second was precious. So she threatened him.

"What the Emperor would say if he knew that you have saved me from dying? More so, a war was happening here yet you did not even report this to the Emperor, instead you are trying to save his enemy's wife rather than his men." Li Amm doesn't know why Twelve was here.

But she pretty much guessed that the Emperor's motive for his sending his men in both cities was to kill her.

Twelve was stunned.

Right. His mission was to follow the moves of the General's wife. It was to make sure that they knew the exact position of Lady Ren, the only family that General Ren Shou has. * Twelve knew that the Emperor had sent him not out of goodwill, but with the intentions of watching the enemy.

However, following the Lady for six months made him understand that Lady Ren was not malicious. She even saved the children and she was trying to fulfill her promise to those orphans.

Like Li Amm thought, Twelve was a beggar in a street before he was taken as a slave. So he was moved when Li Amm chose to help the poor children. He had not seen a noble do those troublesome things.

So when he saw that Li Amm was about to endanger herself by walking in the plaza, he showed himself and stopped her without thinking. And now too, he was stopping her from killing herself.

Li Amm could not see his face. But his silence made her further prove that Twelve was hesitating. So Li Amm pushed more.

"It's chaotic here, we can still go unnoticed and checked the inn. Please, you have great strength. Use it for the two children who needs our help." Li Amm said, her eyes were watching the inn that was being swallowed by the fire.

Twelve's grip slowly loosened. He too wanted to help the children.

"You stay here Lady, I will see what I can." With that, Twelve used qigong and ran fast as he could to the inn. He did not go into the entrance but at the back.

Li Amm heald her breath as she waited.

In reality, she was not that positive that the two children would come out alive. However, how could she ignore the little girl's cries in pain? Her conscience could not take it. She believed in Twelve's ability, he at least could come out alive. Whether the children came out dead or alive, at least they had done what they could do.

The plaza had become a place of a massacre. The newly arrived army ruthlessly fire arrows at the escapees from the fire. For now, no one noticed Li Amm who was in the corner and witnessing everything.

Then suddenly, a piercing sound of horn reverberate in Lin City.

This loud sound drowned every noise and put a pause in the massacre happening in the plaza.

However, it was only a few moments when the commander of the army with the arrows shouted,

"Be in positions! The Emperor's army had arrived!"

The army followed his commands. With practice and swift movements, they changed positions and face the Emperor's army that had just arrived.

Li Amm gulped. So this was the face-off she was expecting, minus the massacre.

This time the army that the Emperor sent were all wearing battle suits. The commander in charge shouted at the two thousand men who ruthlessly ambush the barbarians and prisoners that the Emperor had made a deal of.

"General's Ren Shou Army of 2000 men had exploited and murdered the people of Lin City! They have rebelled against the Emperor! This act of treason would demand death! Soldiers of Ren Empire! Kill this traitors!"

"Yahh!"

The shout of battle cry resounded loudly in the Lin city.

Li Amm did not move in her spot.

Since there was fire everywhere, she could see clearly how people kill each other. The blood of those who were killed tainted the ground red. The fishy smell was so strong that made Li Amm's stomach churned. She could not control her disgust and puke for a second time. The mighty CEO who had not witnessed any blood spilled in her last life and the pampered young miss in this life had not face any difficulties. This was a traumatic experience even for Li Amm who had lived twice of her life.

She doesn't want to look around anymore. She just gazed at the certain inn who was now completely engulfed by fire.

The children, the old man, and even Twelve.

Li Amm felt her heart was hit by a huge truck. The truck that weight a thousand pounds made her difficult to breathe, added with the smoke around her.

"They can't be saved..." Li Amm murmured. A sense of loss wafted in her heart.

'Is twelve was trapped too?'

Li Amm bit her lips. Now she sent someone to die. She was the one to blame. But there's no point of mulling over it. She had accepted Twelve's blood was on hers, and she would pay for it in this lifetime.

She clenched her fist and closed her eyes. Like how Liamm Drelavine done in her previous life, she would mourn for the loss for a moment and move on.

She bowed to the direction of the inn with a solemn face.
