Progress

It had been a year since Leylin came here and he had progressed at a satisfactory rate.

"What is the progress in the interface tool?" Leylin asked his AI chip.

[Beep… 79% Complete]

It had been stuck at 79% for the past month, as Leylin had finished most of his study on electronics but had yet to delve into the newer field of Sakuradite research. To properly go into that he needed a sample of Sakuradite to experiment on.

He had ordered it and it was supposed to come today, a small sample mainly used as decoration. A dangerous decoration at that, Sakuradite in the natural form is extremely reactive and can explode if ignited.

Still, he had plans for the piece and now he would get it.

In the meanwhile, his physique had progressed swimmingly, the AI chip was able to create a new Knight training method, after looking into Bionics he realized that to make bionic body parts he would need a state of the art laboratory and access to the material. That was difficult right now as he was trying to keep his head down and not attract attention.

So he decided to focus on the pseudo-Knight training as it could not give as great a result as the ones in the Magus world. This was because his body was not that of a magus and so the techniques developed there would be ineffective to him as of now.

So he continued doing standard exercises improved by the AI chip all the while having it work on a better routine.

That was finished five months ago and since then he had followed that routine. The results were already obvious.

"Show my stats" Leylin instructed

[Leylin Franklin - Strength: 1 | Agility: 1.4 | Constitution: 1.1 | Status: Healthy]

He had focused on agility as that controlled his reflexes. This was important not just because better reflexes allowed him to dodge better but with the recent developments in Knightmare technology, Strength was not as important, however, better reflexes would allow him to pilot the Knightmare better.

However his growth was slowing down now, he estimated that his growth would stop by the time most of his stats reached the 1.8 marks, however, he might be able to increase his agility beyond that as his body seemed predisposed to it.

Better reflexes would not only help in better piloting skills but also help him follow the instructions of the AI chip better. His AI chip would be invaluable in combat, being able to see and predict the movement of his opponents would give him an overbearing edge over his foes.

On the topic of joining the army, he had given the test, answering enough questions to be given the first spot no doubt, and was scheduled to leave for Westpoint in a month, by that time he should be finished with his tinkering of Sakuradite and be able to make the physical control for his AI chip.

...

"Thank you for the tea Sebastian," Leylin said as Sebastian handed him his evening tea.

He was sitting in the garden with his mother, having come out of his experimentation just minutes before.

"So, how's the mad scientist life treating you son. Had fun with your toys?" She asked smiling.

"Please mother, it is just a passion project, I would be leaving for the academy tomorrow and wanted to finish all my work"

"At least you have enough sense to not carry it with you to the academy"

"Who do you think I am mother? If I wanted to take it with me you wouldn't be able to tell" Leyling replied cheekily. "Anyways how goes the Knightmare project?"

"It's going fine, we are currently recruiting new students from the university as you suggested. We already have a few senior members who have experience with Knightmares to guide them. I am glad that we are finally going into the field, I might not be much of a thinker but I know enough to tell that these Knightmares would change war as we know it."

"Please mother, both of us know that our family would be destitute if father was the one controlling it. He is perfectly fine in politics but not good enough for us to reach where we are now. I have read enough about the past decade to know how we got where we are." Leylin said.

It was true, his mother was the actual power in the family. Rising to such a level as Earls did not come easy, it required more than just lip service to stay at the top, and the Franklins held more area than many viscounts.

"Aww, you'll make me blush, son. Now take care of yourself in the academy, I hear that a princess will be attending as well"

"Really who?"

"The word is Princess Cornellia Li Britannia"

"This could get interesting"
