Chapter 1

Your POV

"Good morning ma'am" one of the other cadets said politely while I sat there on top of the wall looking down at the Titans clawing at it "good morning Vivian, did you just come from checking on the cannons?" I asked looking up to the blond girl "yes ma'am... um ma'am do you suppose that they'll ever actually get in?" She asked nervously not getting to close to the edge "they did once... so yes I do think so... but not without a fight from us it's our duty to keep the wall in check and protect the civilians" I said calmly and confidently "right... I just... I don't want them to get in" she said while fidgeting, I could see true terror in her eyes.

Standing up I smiled and out a hand on her shoulder "hey keeps ya chin up nothing bad will happen I promise I'll protect you and fight by your side along with everyone else, besides we're the garrison we're the biggest military's there is so have some confidence in us" she said reassuringly she heard a loud crow sound making her quickly out her arm out letting the big black bird land on her "one second dear, Ray has something for me" she said before she gently pat the birds head and then took the letter attached to its leg and read it before frowning and then looked out over the wall "the survey corps have another expedition...." she said quietly while Vivian looked confused "the survey corpse?... oh right your family are soldiers too but in the survey corps" Vivian said while staring at my bird.

"Why do you have a bird ma'am?" She asked curiously while I smile "he was a present from my father, he takes letters and delivers them to my family and they can send letters back, he's very smart" i said proudly as I pulled a piece of paper out from my pocket and pen "and now I need to write a response so if you excuse me Vivian" I said politely before sitting back down on the wall and started writing my letter back to my brother Dylan

"Dear big brother.

I received your letter about the next expedition, in short words I wish you, mother and father didn't have to go but I know you will do your best and you will come back to me alive, and once you do I'll come to visit during brake and you can show me around, I love you big brother and please send my love to mother and father too good luck.

Ps. I know you ate my cupcake when you came to visit you ass, and I hope you know your making me a new one

I finished writing the letter and attached it to rays foot with a red ribbon before letting the big bird fly off to make its way to my brother, with a small confident smile I turned on my heal and mad my way to my commander and grinned up to him "hey pixi!!" I said with my hands on my hips

"Ah Cadet L/N as chipper as usual I see! Have you anything to report?" He asked drunk as always "apart from the scouts going on an expedition again, only a few problems with the higher class assholes and and the lower class, something about the lowers showing no respect or something, though I sorted it out sir!" I said with a smile while he nodded.

"I see... though you called the higher class assholes again but aren't you a higher class? Relative to the royal family AKA princess" he said in a teasing tone while I poured "I am not a princess my family may be of royalty but we are sworn to protecting our people instead of ruling over them" I said calmly and a little sternly which earned me a grin from him and a pat on the back.

"Yes of cause! And that's why the people call you the black whirlwind!" He said as as we started walking across the wall "or they call me crow, you know like my bird" I said looking while holding hands behind my back keeping my head high looking around, now your most likely wondering why people call me the the black whirlwind, well you see instead of the usual white shirt most wear I wear a black shirt and black trousers, and because of my black hair it's hard to see me in the dark, i also apparently look like a giant crow when using my 3dm gear because of how fast I go, I was first place in training for my skill and speed I came here so I can protect the people just incase there's another breakage in the wall, if I was to join the survey corps now then I may not be here ready to help when the Titans get in again... and I can't let happen... not after what happened to my older sister back in Wall Maria...

"Yes, yes crow for short, now then! I have to go play and drink with your uncle the stupid king I leave you in charge" he said before turning to everyone "do you hear that everyone?! Cadet L/N will be in charge until I return!" The commander said so everyone in the wall could hear,

"SIR YES SIR!" They all shouted and saluted while they grinned happily "I swear they like you more then they like me..." he mumbled But had an amused look "well then I don't want any funny business understand! I don't want what happened last time L/N was in charge" he said while I backed up to the group with a grin

"Waaa me? Do something bad and totally not do any work at all in you absence and just fly around the the whole wall playing capture the flag again?!... pff I'd never do that sir you know me come on" I said while the others tried there best not to laugh

"Right... well I better come back to you still working... dismissed!" He said before he jumped of the wall and used his 3dm gear to get to the ground where his horse were while I turned to the cadets with a bright grin

"Now then let's have a rematch shall we"
