The rebel couple (bonus chapter)

Song : Overdose by Alessia Cara.

As I watch Lin, I feel intimidated. The beautiful girl stood tall with an air of elegance, capturing the attention of everyone, including I, in her presence. Dressed in her pristine school uniform, she stood out effortlessly. Her crisp white blouse, perfectly ironed, sat neatly tucked into a pleated skirt just above her knees. The uniform fits her flawlessly, accentuating her graceful figure. Her silky hair naturally flowed beneath her shoulders framing her lovely face.

As expected, the students gushed over her.

'I can't believe she's finally here. When she announced her enrolment in our school, I couldn't sleep.' A girl squealed with her friends.

'Even her posture exudes confidence.' Everyone is lost in awe of her beauty and grace.

Lin carried herself with such effortless charm that one cannot help but be drawn to her magnetic presence. Even I.

'She even added her signature necklace. Always infusing her own style into everything. I love her.'

'Her shoes are perfectly polished shoes.'

'This beautiful girl in our school uniform embodies physical beauty.'

'She is the shining example of elegance.'

I almost rolled my eyes. The praises were becoming annoying. Lin is human just like you. Except BTS. Those men are not ordinary.

I slowly took my seat. Grace too but she is laughing her ass off. I was afraid she might fall off her seat with the way she was laughing.

'What's so funny?' I couldn't help but ask.

Grace said between laughter. 'Yesterday, Lin went public announcing Jacob as her boyfriend and now, Levi, the big bad wolf, is her new chaperone?'

Wait. Grace was right. Lin told everyone that her boyfriend was Jacob but actually it was Levi. What's going between those three? I really want to know.

My eyes meet a familiar pair of blue. I push my seat back and walk out of the class like it's none of my business. Actually, it was not. Everyone will probably think I was jealous of the power couple but looking at Levi right now irritated me. I broke his window last night. I might break his nose if I don't hold back.

In the corridor, I exhale softly. Suddenly, my chest feels tight. My heart rate monitor begins to beep. I'm in pain. I lean against the wall. Beads of perspiration form behind my neck and on my forehead. I begin to hyperventilate. My sight begins to blur and I almost collapse to the floor when a pair of strong arms caught me and lifted me.

'Charlotte, what's wrong?' the masculine voice asked.

My eyes grew heavier by the second. I couldn't make out the image of my saviour but I knew I had met him before. In no time, I slipped into the darkness.

My left hand was warm. It is clutched in someone's. My eyes flew open and I sit up immediately.

'Charlotte.' It's Matty.

'Thank you for helping me but go away.' I lay back down on the soft sheets. The scent of Lysol All Purpose Cleaner and disinfectant told me that I was in the infirmary.

'I'm really sorry.' His voice begins to break. 'I never meant to do that to you. It's just that I thought the rich new kid wouldn't be a target. That my debt would be paid off.'

I turn to him. My heart sank as I listened to him go on.

Matty wiped both his eyes with the heels of his palm. 'I'm so sorry, Char. I never meant to do that to you. Yesterday, you were absent and I thought something bad happened to you during Hide and Seek. You must hate me right now.'

I sit up. 'Of course, I hated you. Frankly, I still do. Someone almost died trying to save me. It was my first day of school goddammit and I thought I made a nice friend but I got sold out on the very same day. I was betrayed.'

A sigh escape my lips.

'Do you forgive me?' Matty asked.

'Yeah but can you give me some space for a while? I'll find it hard to trust you after what happened." I say.

Matty gives a curt nod. 'I understand.'

Amy enters with a smile. 'Looking good, Charlotte.'

I reply dryly. 'That sounded nice when I was ten years old.'

She laughs and walks to my bed. Matty is asked out of the room and a few other nurses arrive. I laid back on the bed and closed my eyes as they began their tests.

(Levi's POV)

Where the hell did English run off to? Is she still upset about what I told her last night? I chuckle softly as I remember her message, 'God will punish you.'

'Something funny?' Lin asked as we took our seats.

'And if something's funny, what's wrong? Wanna make me laugh too?' I take out my phone and headed straight to Instagram.

Lin rolled her eyes. 'It's just a question.' She turned to her seat which was in front of mine. My eyes fell on the one beside me.

Gracie winked at me. 'Lover boy.'

'Screw you, Grace.' I showed her my middle finger.

She laughed. 'I still can't believe you're in a relationship.' To Lin, she asked. 'Is he boyfriend material?'

Lin smiled. 'Of course. He's the real deal and not counterfeit.'

I knew this would provoke Grace. A year ago, her mom who worked as a bank manager was arrested for replacing bank notes with counterfeit.

Grace clenched her fists. 'Excuse me?'

'Did I say something offensive?' Lin said innocently.

Grace rushed out of her seat but I told her off.

'Back off, wolf. I own you.' she understood my message and stomps out of the classroom.

'Who the hell does she think she is?' Lin scoffs.

I grab Lin's slim wrist. Luckily, no idiot was looking. 'When you're around me, you play it cool. Don't cause shit just because you've got me. Don't forget that you're a tool and nothing more. I can dump you whenever I want.'

Lin bit her lower lips to stop them from quivering.

'Open that mouth to cry and you'll regret it. Now, turn around and smile at everyone.' I let go of her wrist and she turns around.

As if on queue, the idiots she smiled at rushed to her seat. 'Lin'

The bell rings. It's assembly time. I look to the seat beside me. Where the hell is she?

- - - - -

The assembly as boring as usual. Principal Langley would give his usual fortune for the day. Yeah. The school president let him do that shit. Dude's Asian. We, the students, don't find it odd because most of what he says actually happen and today, I hope the fortune wouldn't turn as he said it.

'An old scar from your past will be reopened.'

There are solutions too. 'Scars in any form they take, heal with medicine. Emotional scars heal with the medicine of warmth. Warmth from friends and family. Staying in isolation means you are staying vulnerable and that breeds weakness. So students, heed the word and your fortune today wouldn't be as bad as getting an F as a test score.'

Everyone laughs at the last part. We sing the national anthem and assembly is over after a few announcements are made by Principal Woodrow. My eyes trail the female queue. I don't find Charlotte. Where did she go? Is she in trouble?

(Charlotte's POV)

'My mum insisted I do something to my hair before coming here.' I sigh.

Matty points at his head. 'Just wear a beanie like me.'

'That's what I told her but no, she wants me to look perfect.' I shake my head.

Scottie and Matty laugh.

'I wish my mum doted on me like that. If she had, then I wouldn't be the way I am.' someone says.

I turn to the direction of the voice. To my surprise, It's Jacob.

'Dude, you're perfect. You're smart, handsome, the ladies love you, to top it all, you're the second smartest dude in class. If you hate the way you are then I want to be like you.' Scottie laughs. Matty joins him.

Jacob walks to my bed and sits on it. 'Hey.'

'Hi.' I smile. His hair is even curlier today. What does he do to it? I'm jealous.

As though reading my mind, Matty asked. 'Dude, I've been watching you and I can't help but ask. What the bloody hell do you do to your hair? It keeps getting awesome everyday and I...' he removed his beanie to reveal a mass of golden locks. 'I struggle to do something to this.'

Jacob turns to him in shock. 'Dude.'

Matty puts his beanie back on. 'Yeah. I get that look alot.'

'Well, there is no hair problem my mom can't fix. She owns Wright Is Right.' Jacob said proudly.

Scottie stroke his non bearded chin. 'That Hair franchise with the dumb name but is really popular?'

Jacob scoffs. 'It is. But the name isn't dumb.'

Matty shakes his head. 'You're lying, bro. The name sucks. No offense.'

Scottie nods. I did too.

'I gave her that idea.' Jacob pouts.

'Then I take back what I said about you earlier. You're dumb, man.' Matty said dryly.

Jacob glared at him and he pursed his lips.

I pat Jacob's shoulder. 'So what brings you here?'

Jacob rubs the back of his neck. 'I was helping Nurse Leyla with some boxes when I heard your voice and decided to come see you. You okay?'

I nod. 'My right arm hurts but I'll be fine.'

He turns to Matty and Scottie and they both give a thumbs up.

'Okay.' Jacob finds it suspicious but refused to pry any longer.

Matty takes out his phone. 'Yo, we gotta head to class.'

'I'll come with.' I try to get out of bed but the boys yell "NO!"

Jacob is confused. 'What's wrong?'

Scottie lied. 'Her arm hurts. What's the point of her coming to class if she would feel pain throughout the lesson.'

Matty adds. 'He's right. It would do her no good.'

Jacob turns to me. 'You want to stay?'

'Nah. Guys, I'm fine.' I get out of bed.

Scottie and Matty shake their heads but I ignore them.

'Gentlemen, shall we?' I smile.

On our way to class, Scottie nudge me softly. 'Dude, are you sure you can stay in class after passing out?'

'What if the pain comes back? We're worried about you, Char.' Matty pouts.

P. S : They know I'm sick.

My eyes almost become misty. How can they be so caring? I just met them on Monday and they're this lovely.

I smile at them. 'Thanks, guys. I feel fine. Although, I'll need you both if something goes wrong.'

Just as we thought, Mr Gale was already in class, however, in front of the class, he wasn't alone. There were 4 students with him. Quietly, the 4 of us made our way into the classroom after apologizing to him.

Levi's eyes followed me like a hawk and it made my skin crawl. Won't he leave me alone? He has a girlfriend now.

I take my things from my seat and whisper to Gracie. 'Please, switch seats with me.'

'Sure.' she took her things and went to my seat.

I arrange my jotter on the desk and log in my name and password into the touch screen monitor. Levi is probably surprised by my action but for now, I just had closure and I want nothing to do with him anymore. I'm done.

Mr Gale begins. 'For those of you just returning to class....

A student announced. 'It looks like someone had a threesome.'

I knew he referred to me, Jacob, Scottie and Matty.

Mr Gale frowned. 'Mr Walter, thank you for accepting my invitation in detention.'

Walter scoffs. 'It was just a joke.'

'Sadly, no one laughed.' Mr Gale retorts and everyone gives quiet snickers. Clearing his throat, Mr Gale turned to the 4 students standing beside him. 'We have 4 new students in our midst, everyone. What would you like to say to them?'

'Welcome to 3C' Everyone chorused except me and probably Levi who probably didn't give a damn about anything or anyone but himself.

'Please introduce yourselves to the class.' Mr Gale smiled.

I observed the group. In their school uniforms, this lot of beautiful girls and handsome boys caught my attention with their impeccable style.

The girls exuded elegance, each sporting their well-fitted uniform that accentuated their delicate features. Their skirts fell to the perfect length, and their shirts were tucked in behind their skirt effortlessly, highlighting their slender frames. Their hair are carefully styled. One wore it in cascading curls, while the other opted for a stylish braid.

Accompanying the girls are the handsome boys, who also displayed a timeless sense of fashion with their well-tailored school uniforms. Their shirts are crisp, tucked neatly into their trousers, emphasizing their well-defined physiques. Their ties are perfectly knotted, adding a touch of sophistication to their overall appearance.

Together, this group of beautiful girls and handsome boys form an undeniable attractiveness that I deeply admired.

'Hello, everyone. My name is Josie Park and I'm 18 years old. I'm into competitive dance.' Josie was the first to go. She had rich pearl skin and her clean set of teeth were revealed as she smiled. Best of all is she's British like me.

'Competitive dance is a wonderful sport, Miss Park. You can have your seat at the back.' Mr Gale smiled then added. 'Charlotte, you're going to chaperone Miss Park seeing you both are English.'

I almost squeal in delight. Finally, someone from my homeland.

Park sat behind me and greets. 'Wotcha.'

'Wotcha.' I greeted back with a smile. Oh, this is amazing.

The handsome boy with brown skin goes next. His black locks are braided and suited him perfectly. When he smiled, the girls in the front row squealed. 'My name is Adolph Von Ribbentrop and I'm German. I'm 18 years old and love painting. I hope you all treat me well.'

I'm impressed. He has no accent. His parents must have soaked him in the water of English.

'We'll treat you well, Adolph.' The girls at the front row screamed.

'Now, now, ladies. Scream like that in the upcoming national football competition and not in my classroom.' Mr Gale shook his head.

Everyone laughs.

The last girl was up. She was of Mediterranean extraction, probably, Greek. She is few inches taller than Josie, with a smooth satiny oval face. Her face held no smile and made her look elegant. Obviously, she would be a no-nonsense person.

'My name is Rose Gadot and I'm Greek. I enjoy reading.' she kept it short. Excellent.

The last guy didn't say anything. He just walked past the middle aisle to a sit behind Levi. Strangely, no one objected his decision. Neither the students nor Mr Gale himself.

'Sup.' The stranger who sat behind Levi tapped his shoulder and they both shook hands.

I heard Levi call him Lenin. What the? Our eyes met and suddenly, I can't avert my gaze. What mesmerizing green eyes he had. Shit. Now, I sound like the big bad wolf in Little Red Riding Hood. Lenin or whatever his name was, winked at me and looked away. The spell had been broken and I face front. To my surprise, sitting on my desk was a pink piece of paper. Who put this here? I looked at Grace, her seat wasn't near mine. There's no time for her to swiftly put it on my desk and hurry back to her seat. It certainly can't be Park. She's behind me. Slowly, I reach for the paper and flip it open. There was a message.

"You're still a target, Lamb."

I was startled. Looking around the classroom, there was no way someone could put this on my desk. Was it the guy in front of me? I peeked from behind his shoulder. His notebook was white. So was everyone else's in my row. God ! Who sent this message? I avert my gaze to the rebel couple - Lenin and Levi. Instantaneously, both their eyes met mine and a scream almost escape my lips.
