Chapter 30 - No Range Limit

Finding those tall places was a pain in the ass, so Zack decided to create an ice tower. He gathered a lot of ice and then froze with his enchanted sword, then added a lot more and kept increasing it for a while. The monsters kept coming, too, so he added them to the tower of ice. In no time, it became taller than the buildings that Zack could use, the only problem was the fact that he couldn't put anything there since the tower was pretty thin. He had to take things from his inventory.

Thanks to the tower, Zack was also able to find the city's layout and check where the frozen witches were gathering. They appeared in the central area, where a round lake was supposed to be.

"Is it a coincidence?" Zack rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Aside from the distance and the cold, I can't imagine why this place wasn't conquered yet."

When they had the chance to attack, the frozen witches could be troublesome, even more so when there were more than one at the same time. Basically, they could freeze anything instantly since the temperature around them was already low.

Zack tried to focus on the area of the lake, but he couldn't find anything from a distance. His eyes weren't that good, so he wondered if he should increase his focus. He heard that focus improves one's ability to see things from a distance, and when one is fast, one becomes a bit slower.

"Well, let's focus on decreasing their numbers first, no need to hurry," Zack thought.

As Zack continued his exploration, he felt satisfied knowing that he was steadily gaining experience with each encounter. He knew that perhaps he might even gain a new skill that day. With that in mind, he saw no point in hurrying up.

For Zack, patience was key. He understood that rushing into things could lead to mistakes and missed opportunities. Instead, he preferred to take his time, carefully assessing each situation and planning his actions accordingly. Moreover, if compared to anyone, his pace was already insane, even when he was going easy. He never heard of a hunter reaching level fifty in less than six months.

He also realized the importance of having a variety of weapons at his disposal. The more tools he had to surprise his enemies, the better. Whether it was a sword, a bow, a magic-infused weapon, or even skills, each one offered unique advantages in combat.

As he disposed of the enemies like that, Zack eventually noticed that their numbers had decreased in the area. He was only two kilometers away from where they were supposed to be coming from, so that was weird.

"Maybe a guild came here recently," Zack thought.

Zack had the feeling that things weren't that simple, but in the end, there was no point in worrying about that. If he finds the answer, then that would be fine, and the inverse would be fine as well.

In the end, despite the limited number of monsters, Zack still managed to reach level fifty when the sun was setting, and he got a new skill. This one was particularly interesting.

(You have obtained enough XP to level up.)

(You received five status points and one skill point.)

(You have reached level 50 and unlocked the skill No Range Limit.)

(No Range Limit: Allows you to hit targets at any distance with the same effectiveness as close-range attacks. Removes the range limitations on all attacks, including physical, ranged, and magical attacks. Damage inflicted by attacks remains consistent regardless of distance. The duration is ten seconds multiplied by the level of the skill. Cooldown: 300 seconds,)

"Yet another great skill. This one will work better if I increase my focus, though," Zack thought. Well, let's see how this works."

Before leveling it up, Zack used the skill and then swung his blade while looking at a frozen witch in the distance. Much to his surprise, he felt like he had hit something, and his sword slowed down. As for the target, the monster began to bleed from its neck violently. The skill worked like that.

Zack swung the sword again, and then he cleaved the head of another monster… the feeling of cutting down the beast was real. While it was useful, Zack couldn't help but think about his skills.

"This skill defies the conventional rules of cause and effect, allowing me to bypass the limitations of distance with my attacks. This means that the usual relationship between the distance from the target and the effectiveness of the attack is completely ignored, "Zack rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "In essence, this skill breaks the typical cause-and-effect relationship that governs combat, where the effectiveness of an attack diminishes as the distance between the attacker and the target increases. With No Range Limit, I can strike with full force and accuracy, regardless of their target's distance.

This skill essentially allows the user to transcend the limitations of distance in combat, granting them unmatched versatility and power on the battlefield. Whether their enemy is within arm's reach or on the horizon, the user can strike fearlessly and effectively, knowing that their attacks will always find their mark.

Still, considering that kind of skill and the others… what were the limitations of Zack's trait and how they operated like that? For the first time in his life, Zack couldn't help but wonder about the situation of the world and his reality…
