"It's too late. There are no cars around. It will take a few more minutes.
"Hold on. I'll try it again."
Emilee pretended to be anxious and continued to hail a car.
Trey cursed in a low voice. Finally, he cooled down and thought of the ambulance.
He searched through all his pockets, but he could not find his phone.
He wondered if he had dropped it by accident when he was anxious.
"Call an ambulance."
Trey turned to order Emilee.
"That's right. We can call an ambulance. I was too anxious to realize it."
Emilee did as Trey said dowdily.
That was why Kristen was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment until nearly an hour later.
Emilee and Trey stood outside the emergency room and advised, "Trey, you'd better go back and get changed.
"I can stay here. If there is any news, I'll call you immediately.
