I

I could hear my mom screaming from the other side of the phone. "What time will she be reaching the airport?!" She asks my dad. "11:30am," I answer before having my dad convey the message. "Great! Mom and I will be there to pick you up," he informs. My heartbeat picks up its pace this time. "Actually, I was hoping maybe, I could come home on my own this time?" The statement comes out as more of plead than I want it to.

The other end stays silent. I was sure that they'd go against it. I've never been allowed to do anything on my own. "Very well then. If that is what you wish. Just make sure you reach home early though. Can you promise that?" he finally responds. My face brightens up that it practically lights up the entire airport. "I promise," I assure him. "Good. I'll see you soon," and he hangs up the phone.

Coming from a strict family that never really let me do the things I would normally want to do as a teenager, being able to come home on my own made me feel like I had taken another step towards adulthood.

I walk out of the airport with my luggage in hand and grab a taxi. Next thing I knew, I was on my way home. Gosh it feels good to be home.

An hour later, I arrive at the front of my house. Everything looks exactly the same, only a little older. I take in a deep breath and prepare myself for their excitement and enthusiasm. I then grab the door knob and slowly open the door. Before I could fully open the door, I could hear my mom yell out "Lorelai!"

And here come the hugs.

Suddenly everyone races to the door and hugs me so tightly that I couldn't breathe anymore. "Okay okay that's enough I can't breathe."

"And the prodigy is finally home." Alex, My eldest brother stands in front of me with a grin on his face.

"And now I have to deal with your pathetic ass for the rest of my life." I look up at him and smile.

"I missed you, you little pest."

"I missed you, you pain in the behind."

He walks over me to as I do the same and gives me the biggest hug ever. He then leads me to the kitchen where they present to me an entire table of exquisite food. "We couldn't eat without the life of the party," he says as he nudges my shoulder. A warm sensation suddenly comes over me. After such a long time, I finally feel like I'm home.

Lunch went on just like it usually did. Only this time, my family asked me a lot of questions about the time I was gone. Apparently they were all curious to know how living with my stuck up aunt was like. But being gone for five

years, its hard not to be curious.

When I was twelve, my parents decided to ship be off to England to live with my aunt for better studies. Life there was, hectic. Completely different to how I would live at home. I'd often get lectures about how I couldn't be responsible enough. She was hard on all her children, especially me. But I guess that was just her way of trying to groom me into a better lady. Not that it helped. I definitely did become more responsible and did clean up after myself, but that woman couldn't put down my flames even if she had an infinite amount of water. After all, growing up with five brothers in the house and being the second last, it has its effects.

So, it was to their surprise when I excused myself before getting up and that I cleaned my own plate. "Oh Lory, what did Angry Aunt Linda do to you?" asks Brian, my second brother. "Brian, watch it," mom snaps at him. Brian slowly puts his head down. "Well, sweetie, you can't deny, she really is one hell of a mad woman," dad states. Mom shoots him a death glare. "In the most magnificent way possible! That woman will do wonders I tell you," he exclaims, trying to cover up his previous statement. Mom's gaze still doesn't change. He pauses for a while and coughs and then says, "boys, learn to respect your aunt. Its not nice calling her a mad woman." He keeps his eyes low and gets up to hand me his plate. My brothers look at each other in confusion.

"Anyway, I told Emily you'd be coming home today. She said she wants you to call her the moment you reach home," says my mom. Emily Miller. The most wildest person I've known since I was in kindergarten. My childhood best friend. She has long black straight hair, dark brown pretty eyes and beautiful cheekbones. I smile at the sound of her name and I rush up to my room. I open my drawer and grab my phone. I wasn't able to take my phone along because apparently crazy aunt Linda had a strict no phones policy. I could only use hers to call my family.

I look up her name on my contacts and finally see it.

"TRAIN WRECK"

I press her name and call her up. After a while, I suddenly hear her scream, "Lorelai!" my ears almost bled. "Hello to you too dumb shit."

"Oh my gosh I can't believe you're home! When are you coming over? Are you coming over? Dammit you better be coming over and it better be today."

I let out a laugh. "Yeah, I was going to stop by and-" she stops me halfway.

"Great. See you soon!" And she cuts the call.

That enthusiastic bastard will be the death of me.

I grab my jacket and walk down the stairs and yell out, "Mom, Dad, is it cool if I go to Emily's house and spend the day there?"

"Sure. Have fun sweetie," my mom yells back.

I open the door and sprint to Emily's house. It wasn't far away from mine. Just a few blocks away and there was hers. I get up to her front door and catch my breath. I ring the door bell and immediately the door opens and she pulls me into a tight hug. Man I'm really getting tired of these hugs. "Hi! I missed you!" she proclaims. I let out a laugh. "I missed you too man hands." Emily was always physically strong. So having her hug me almost made me lose my soul.

"Come I need to hear everything!" she emphasizes on the 'everything'.

We walk over to the couch where she had prepared a bunch full of food. Wow. She grabs my hand and gestures me to sit next to her. "So, tell me. How was life there?" She asks as she tries to get comfortable.

"A living hell. Linda never let me out of her sight. I had to study ten hours a day and the moment I was done I had to eat and go bed. She wouldn't even let me shower properly. Fortunately her children and I played board games every night so it was tolerable at first."

"Uhuh. Uhuh. Okay, so how was school?"

"So fricking fancy I almost peed my pants when I first got there. I guess they really meant it when they said it was a prestigious school. I had a hard time adjusting. Everytime I tried to make friends Linda showed up and pulled me back to studying and teaching me how to be a 'proper lady'," I imitate her voice. Emily lets out a laugh.

"So wait. What about the boys there? Did they try to hit on you?"

"Oh yeah, they definitely did. The nice ones never talked to me because they were all afraid of Linda. Then there were rich snobs who only cared about horses and golf and how handsome they were."

"Were they though?"

"I could've gagged at least ten times just by looking at them." We both laugh. Suddenly we hear someone from the back. "Lorelai?" it was Eddie, Emily's twin. "Is that you?"

I stand up and look at him. "Hey." He lets out a big laugh and runs over to hug me and carry me. Eddie was always big built. He has short black coloured hair, dark brown eyes and his body is perfectly toned and his smile is capable of outshining an entire room of people. He finally puts me down and asks, "When did you get back?" I answer, "Today." He looks at me and smiles. "The great Lorelai is finally home."

"You make it sound like I'm a world-wide celebrity or something."

"Well I-" he's suddenly cut off by another person who enters the room.

"Eddie lets g-" he looks at me and I look at him. It was Aiden, Eddie's best friend. Aiden has jet-black curly hair, a little longer than Eddie's. His eyes are hazel brown and they would shimmer everytime he would stand under the sunlight and has a flawless jawline, one that could possibly cut through diamonds. Like Eddie, his physique is toned as well. Only difference is that Aiden's slightly thinner and he was taller. His collar bones are very prominent as well, and whenever he'd smile, his canine teeth would be show.

When we were three years old, all four of us would play together. Aiden and I were always close. Hell, I was closer with him that Emily. Two years later, I was shipped off to England and we've never talked since. Well, until now. "You're back," he says in a low raspy voice. "Yes, apparently I am," I answer. "Are you staying or are you going to leave again?"

"Staying. I'm actually planning on enrolling in Winchester High this time." Suddenly Emily shouts out, "Wait, what?! Are you serious?" I give her a nod. She screams out in joy. "Great! That'll just mean we four will be together again! The four amigos!" exclaims Eddie. When we were kids, we made a pact. We vowed that no matter what, we'd always be there for each other and nothing could separate us. Until I went to England. Hearing Eddie say those three words chipped a piece of my heart. Deep down, I knew things were different between us. And there is nothing we can do to change it.

"Whatever. Eddie hurry up. We've got practice. Coach is going to get mad," Aiden reminds from the back.

"Right." Eddie turns to us and says, "I will catch up with you later. Right now I have soccer practice. You two have fun," and he rushes out the door. Aiden gives me a side eye and leaves. Weird.

Emily and I then continue our talk and I spend the rest of my day with her. I reach home at exactly 8:00pm and I see mom setting the table for dinner.

" You're back early," she says.

"Yeah. I wanted to have my dinner with you guys."

"Well great. Your father and Brian are just about to finish watching their show and Alex and Caleb are about to finish their daily video game match." I then hear Alex shouting, "Ha! In your face! You now owe me ten bucks." Caleb groans. How could I have not noticed them earlier?

"Where's Dean?" I ask about my youngest brother.

"He's in his room. He'll be coming down any minute now too."

"I'll go check up on him." I stand up and walk up the stairs to his room. I glance towards his door and I see it open. I stand by the door and knock. "Hey stupid." He looks at me and his eyes sparkle. "Hey idiot." I look at him and I see he's reading a book. "What are you reading?"

"Harry Potter."

"Haven't you read that about ten times?"

"Yeah but it's just so good."

I let out a laugh and climb onto his bed. Soon later, we were talking about mythical creatures and Greek Gods and aliens and the list went on and on. This is why I always loved sitting with Dean. He'd help me escape from reality. For a fourteen year old kid, he sure does like fantasy.

Dean isn't like other kids. He'd rather stay home in his room doing what he wants to. I guess he got that from mom. My other three brothers on the other hand, are complete wild animals. They'd basically spend most of the nights partying in their friend's house or play with their friends and probably get in trouble. But hey, I can't really blame my parents for it. I mean, raising three wild children and two timid ones is definitely not easy.

Half an hour later, mom calls us and we head downstairs to have dinner. The atmosphere was so great. Everyone was talking and laughing and the house felt so warm.

After dinner I finally clean the dishes and go up to my room. I plop down in bed and look around. I start to remember all of the memories I had in my room. Some were with Emily, some were with my parents. Most of them were with Alex helping me fall asleep after a bad dream. As I reminisce all of my memories, my eyes become heavy and I finally drift off to sleep.
