Chapter 28: Aragane Station

*Owen pov*

I walked down the road, passing by numerous fields along the way. Greetings and waves from the farmers and hired help working in the fields punctuated my journey.

'Seems this body had stayed here for about a week before,' I thought idly as I delved into the memories of my current body, which, if I must say, is huge!

I hadn't noticed it before, but I stood a head taller than everyone around me. The realization came as I received a compliment, and I felt slightly off-balance due to the added height.

'Finally, I'm here,' I thought as the fields and farms transformed, replaced by buildings and streets lined with vendors. People bustled around, breathing life into the area around me.

*Bump*

Suddenly, while lost in my thoughts, something bumped into me, causing me to halt my walk. I looked down to see a small ball at my feet. After picking it up, I noticed a group of kids nearby. I threw the ball back to them, and they thanked me before running off to continue their game.

As I watched them go, intrusive thoughts invaded my mind. 'Wonder how many of these people are going to die?' I wondered, the tragedy of the anime beginning to overlap with the scene around me.

'I hope I could stop that... but how?' I held onto this thought as I continued walking for the next while. Eventually, I stumbled upon what appeared to be a blacksmith shop. After a moment of consideration, I entered, finding a man sitting in a chair with his head laid upon his anvil.

"Um, excuse me, are you open?" I asked, causing the sleeping man to jolt awake. Startled, he tripped and fell, letting out a curse. Without hesitation, I swiftly went to help him up from the floor.

"Thanks for the help, been having trouble getting sleep due to the massive orders on weapons" The man apologized now sat back on his chair while I stood not to far away causing me to nod as spoke the reason I had came into here to begin with.

"I wanted to ask if you will help make some modifications to my weapon," I asked, causing the man's eyes to shine with interest.

"Yeah, sure, what do you need? Increase in pressure chamber? Barrel changes? Come, speak, lad!" he replied eagerly. I wasted no time, bringing forth my spear, which I had wrapped up on my back at the suggestion of a farmer who said it would not look good carrying a weapon in town.

"Huh, a spear? Don't see those every day!" the man remarked, taking my spear as he began to examine it. He looked up at me, awaiting my instructions on what changes I wanted to make to it.

"Can you reinforce the shaft with metal and maybe sharpen the blade?" I asked. The man nodded in agreement, detailing the work he would do. He instructed me to return in three days after giving me a price, which didn't even put a dent in my body's funds.

*2 hours later*

I had spent the time wandering around and enjoying the sights, even buying food from street vendors as I moved. But right now, I stopped walking as a conversation at a nearby stall between two men caught my attention.

"Did you hear the rumor?" one of the men asked, leaning against his stall as he spoke to a man right across from him who was inspecting his wares, mostly consisting of different vegetables.

"The one about the attack on the nearby station? Yeah, who hasn't?" the man replied uninterestedly as he examined a cabbage with a keen eye. The vendor sighed slightly and spoke again, this time in a much lower voice.

"No, I mean the most recent one. The one about the nearby station planning to give up and let the Kabane have it." The words of the vendor slightly bothered me, but not wanting to ruin my small vacation before disaster, I continued wandering around.

At some point, I went to the lord's castle, where I saw a group of troops training intensely. But not wanting to get spotted, I moved on somewhere else. As I noticed the sun begin to set, I thought it was as good a time as any to make my way back to the farmer's house. There, I ate dinner with the old couple, who told me about their three kids who had moved out three years ago and now owned their own farms not too far away from here.

Like this, I enjoyed my time in this world for the next week.

I will more than likely do a full time skip to 7 days later, but im not sure. sorry for the kinda mid filler chapter
