"Hey, are you in some kind of secret organisation? Why go through all the stress of ridding the world of bad guys?... No matter how hard you try, you can't make the world pure." Kyle turned to Jade with curiosity in his eyes.
"I'm not ridding the world of crime, I'm just going for this specific set." Jade answered with a straight face, She stood by the helm of the boat.
"Why?"
"Shut it, Kid or I'll throw you off the ship." Jade warned sternly.
Kyle nodded and made a zipping gesture on his lips.
"But do you even know your way to their base?" Kyle questioned after a few seconds of silence.
"I don't." Jade gave a curt reply.
"Hmmm, okay... Wait, What? You don't even know the way? Can't you check the coordinates on the map? Are we going to get lost in the ocean?" Kyle continuously blabbered, he walked to and fro and pulled his hair.
"Get off if you quit." Jade said. "I have something more important to take care of." She added.
"Tsk. A little 'please stay, please don't go' won't be so bad." Kyle clicked his tongue and rolled his eye.
Jade just stared quietly at the vast ocean, she glanced at the map that had no island on it.
"Argh, doesn't matter. I'll find you one way or the other." Jade muttered in frustration.
*******
"Blergh"
Kyle bent over the rail of the boat, his pale face was evidence of sea sickness.
"I don't want to eat those snacks anymore, I want real food." Kyle said in a hoarse voice.
"I never stopped you from buying food, you bought the snacks yourself." Jade chuckled.
"It's been three days already and no destination in sight..." Kyle mourned and quickly bent over again.
"Blergh"
Jade walked to him and patted his back, she gave him a glass of water and sat on a chair opposite him.
Jade knew that no matter how she tried to deny it, she just couldn't deny the fact that she was glad that she decided to let Kyle tag along. The young child was a free soul, almost untainted by the sins and sorrows of the world. He was like a light that she really wants to protect.
"Stop staring at me like that."
"What are you saying?"
"Why are you staring at me like that? It feels like I'm being watched by my mother."
"What? Think I'm not old enough to be your mother?"
"You don't really have to lie. I checked your ID and it says twenty-five years old." Kyle said with a proud and triumphant smile.
"You went through my things?" Jade asked sternly, her voice sending shivers down Kyle's spine.
Jade stood up and slowly walked towards Kyle with a dark look on her face. Kyle trembled.
"No, no, not everything and.... Huh? What's that?"
"You can't escape a beating, kid even if you try to distract me."
"No, not that. I mean that." Kyle pointed behind Jade.
Sensing the seriousness in his voice, Jade turned around and there it was, an island stood before them.
"That's it." Jade quickly rushed to the helm, she steered the boat at full speed in the direction of the island.
"Get the guns ready, put on your wet suit, oxygen mask, everything. Just get ready quickly." Jade ordered in a hurried voice.
There it was, it was time to face a nightmare, a fear that she could never run or hide from, it was time to bring it down.
Jade could now see the island fully.
"How can something as noticeable as that not be in a map?" Kyle appeared fully prepared.
"I don't know. The owner might have a lot of connections." Jade left the helm to go put on her wet suit.
"How would we move the guns?"
"I'll do that."
"Shouldn't we just sail to the shore of the island."
"No, there are men there, they would attack immediately so we have to attack from their blind spot."
"Two against a whole army. I don't want to die."
"You won't, I'll protect you.... this time atleast."
"Whoa, I thought you were gonna say 'stay in the boat then' or 'get off then'. Hahaha, it feels nice to hear kind words from you... but it sounds a little weird though." Kyle chuckled.
"One more word and I'll feed you to the sharks."
"Got it." Kyle nodded.
"It's time." Jade announced and jumped off the boat, Kyle immediately followed suit. Both if them swam to the shore.
Jade walked out of the water and aimed her gun at a man who was facing the other side with a gun in his hands.
She stuck the silencer in the muzzle of the gun and pulled the trigger. The man fell to the floor.
Kyle came out of the water too.
"That was so cool, I would have filmed it if I had a camera. It totally beats any action movie I've ever seen."
"Be quiet." Jade said and walked towards the tall trees that surrounded the island, the tall trees concealed the buildings in the island from the outside world.
After they had walked some distance into the forest, the man who was shot at the shore twitched and stood up, he dusted his body and picked up his communicator.
"She's on her way with some kid." He said and turned around, a hole was seen in his cloth but his skin was completely unscathed, a bent bullet layed on the ground.
*******
"Isn't it odd? There are only a few guards and the few are so easy to bring down." Kyle pointed out.
"..."
Jade remained silent, she also noticed this but decide to watch first.
*****
"Boss, she's close by."
-Bring her in-
"Roger."
The man dressed in all black quickly gave orders to his minions.
"Go get her, be careful not to hurt the girl."
The men moved to the direction of Jade and Kyle.
******
"Someone is coming." Kyle said.
"It's not just one." Jade said, she could hear the movement in the bushes and the multiple footsteps.
She aimed her gun at the direction of the sound.
Men in black masks appeared from various sides, Jade knew they were surrounded but giving up now wasn't a good plan.
She shot at all of them but strangely they could avoid her bullets, something that only happened in movies.
"H,how is that possible?" Kyle stuttered.
"Those things aren't humans." He added.
Jade turned to Kyle and asked. "You think so?"
"Not exactly, it's just an expression. If there aren't humans, what are they?" Kyle shrugged, he shot aimlessly at the masked men.
"Demons probably." Jade muttered and shot continuously at the men that were moving towards them ever so slowly.
"I'm out of bullets." Kyle said in a low voice.
"Me too." Jade replied.
The men slowly loomed over Jade and Kyle.
Kyle shuddered while Jade desperately looked around in search of an escape route.
"There's no way out, come gently or I'll knock you out." One of the men said.
"Jade, what should we do now?" Kyle asked.
"Get behind me." Jade stood in front of Kyle.
"Aish. Thought as much." The masked man muttered and moved towards Jade at an alarming speed.
A single hit was all it took for darkness to cloud her sight.
