Chapter 17

While driving around the city, we decided to stop by a boutique to get some new outfits into our closets. We stepped into the boutique not long before a familiar figure came in, it was Ryder. The advice Keenan gave earlier hit me so hard that I wanted to keep Jennie out of his sight but it was too late, he had already spotted us.

I felt he wanted to talk to us but he was hesitating so decided to approach him instead. Jennie didn't want to get closer to him but I dragged her along.

"Hi Ryder ", I said in a friendly tone.

"How may I help you?",

"Oh come on, I just wanna talk",

"Can you stay away from me to keep your friend safe?", he whispered so Jennie didn't hear that.

Ryder really wants to do everything possible to keep Jennie safe. He walked away after whispering that to me without buying what he came to get.

"What are you so lost in?", Jennie asked when I was figuring my thoughts out.

"Sneakers!", she exclaimed pointing at a colorful sneaker in it shelf.

I noticed she was still smiling while looking at the sneakers but her smile faded away for no reason.

"What's with the long face?",I asked mockingly.

"Isn't those sneaker beautiful?", she questioned back

"Of course , so let's go get it for the princess "It's only a pair, I wanted us to get couple sneakers but it seems it won't be possible ", she complained and I couldn't stop laughing. Seriously she was acting childish.

"Okay, let's and make enquiries if they have a pair of same sneakers", I suggested after I was shot a serious glare.

We walked towards the lady in charge of the sneakers to ask and hopefully we were given positive answer.

"Yes!", Jennie exclaimed.

I just shook my head at her behavior just to ignore her. Our stuffs were packed for us and for us and we walked out of the boutique then off we went. I said goodbye to the childish girl and went home.

"I know I'm late, I'm sorry", I apologized immediately I got inside because I knew my almighty nanny was vex. I didn't even want to lock eyes with her so my head was down like a good girl .

"Welcome home Ash", the voice sounded like mum's. I raised my head just to be met with two pairs of eyes staring at me. It was my parents.

I dropped my everything and ran into their arms.

"I really miss you guys", I said happily.

"We missed you too darling", they said in unison

I released myself from their embrace then start to scan the room, then I spotted Ana leaning on the wall glaring at me. I knew if my parents had not arrived, I'd have been scolded by her. I smiled sharply at her then turned my gaze back to my parents.

"Urhm … hope all is well with this unannounced visit?", I asked when we rested in the couch.

"Didn't you miss us? Or can't we come home to see our little princess?", mum was always the first to speak.

"Of course I miss you just that I'm surprised ", I answered " do you have something for me?", I asked giving a wink.

"Well, we just wanted to know how you are coping with your new environment ", dad finally spoke.

"Ah…I see…so you came for school reasons?, honestly I'm hurt?", I said putting on a frown

"Did I ever tell you, you look cuter ?", dad always made me blush with such comments but I do want to loose to him.

"Anyways, I'd be in my room, I've got assignments to do", I said walking straight towards my room.

"Your mum prepared your favorite dish…..herself "

Oh gosh, they finally got me. They knew there was no way I'd be able to fight against my favorite meal prepared by Elena Hart.

"I'd just take that as an apology and enjoy the meal since I don't want her effort to be in vain", I replied looking as if I had no interest but deep down, I was dying to finish the food.

They both laughed at my silly comment and asked me to freshen up before coming downstairs.
