Episode 2 - Our Promise (2)

Her partner has finished disposing of a corpse and a horse carriage to the abyss. Vanessa who just arrived. She instead fatigued due to running. She sat down on a boulder while thinking about the next plan. This mission isn't over yet. After they rescue and bring all of them to a safe place.

The Grand Duke gives a command to find out the leader of this kidnapping. Not only those children. Surely they will intend to kidnap the children again after knowing this has been lost. The leader sold the children to other noble humans in order to get money. Their leader makes Vanessa hate humans a lot.

She and her partner headed straight to the big mansion. As usual, the guard is very strict but it's not a problem. People who follow Vanessa is professional knight. So they could sneak in without getting caught. She led in the front while providing them some signals.

They managed to sneak in and see a suspicious room. There's no one in this room. But Vanessa suddenly pulled out a small knife and threw it. A knife leads in the direction of the two men. The other man is surprised because of these knives and feels fear.

"Lock the door." She gives an order to her partner.

Vanessa with a cold stare issued her sharp teeth. She smiled with a very evil demon then pulls out her sword and was ready to kill them. One of the partners stops her.

"Are you sure this man is the leader?"

"I'm sure, just looked it carefully. They're obviously those leaders."

Luxury clothes and jewelry make him different from other nobles. It looks expensive and classy. These items can only get from the highest quality sale. That sale is from kidnapping the vampire children.

"He does look like the leader of this mansion. The Grand Duke said to me there are two leaders."

Father also told me about it and once...I saw him at the battle before. He is really attracted to children. Those eyes of him...I never forget that eyes.

"You...I remember you...the woman twenty years ago. You still alive?" One of the leaders spoke to her.

What a surprise? It turns out he's remembered me.

"Ah...You take me here twenty years ago, right? Do you still remember me? Such a shame!"

Vanessa felt disgusted and instantly kill them both. A tear out of her eyes. She ordered her partner to evacuate all the prisoners from here.

"You know where they are?"

"Yes, not only children...woman also here."

They quickly run her command. Vanessa was alone in that room. She sees her sword covered with blood.

So this is the reason why my father offers an easy duty to me? Dad, why didn't you tell me? Do you know? I have memories of this place? I hate this place...I hate it...they have done something bad to me. They have ruined my family and kidnapped me in this place. Twenty years have passed, this place is still the same.

"Ah...I should come back now."

When they finished evacuating the prisoners using a magic portal. Vanessa stood on top of a big tree. She was holding a torch. She threw it to the big mansion. The fire was exposed to an oil puddle that she have prepared before.

The big mansion is now filled with burning fire. She saw the burning house in her own eye. She takes a deep breath and then holds her temper.

Can not hold any longer her emotions. She cut the tree into two parts. Her sword split in two because of it and can't be used anymore.

"I hate it!"

Her anger was gone in an instant and a magic portal suddenly appeared next to him. In the portal, there is someone who held out his hand to her. Vanessa grabbed his hand. He pull her to the magic portal and she ended up in someone's arms. The man hugged her with good care.

Her temper that was gone has come back. But she couldn't angry with him. The person holding her hand and kissing her forehead. He says sorry with a soft voice. 

"I'm sorry, my daughter."

"....Why...? Father? You know everything...."

Vanessa released his hand and ran away. She ran through the forest. She not paying attention to her surrounding. Someone was following her from behind. He told her to stop. Vanessa can't listen to it because her emotions keep running.

"VANESSA, WAIT!"

When her name was called she finally stopped. The person who was chasing after her holding her hand. His face was not able to see a tear on Vanessa's cheek.

The sound of lightning and rain-wet their clothes. The person is soothing her. He also didn't like this duty. But they should do it.

"Your brother will be sad if he sees you like this. Don't cry. Remember this mission is successful because of you. Those children and women will not accept bad treatment again. They wouldn't ever be the same as twenty years ago. Remember that, Vanessa."

In his arms was, her heart skipped a beat. Tears that profusely continue to fall along with the rain. She got pissed off and hit him simultaneously.

"...I know...I know...My memory about that place...became I can't think straight. All of them...has killed someone I love. They have killed my brother!"

"It's okay. I will be with you right now. I have to protect you from all harm."

Vanessa avenges his arms.

"Basil...You're not allowed to die or leave me alone...promise me."

"Yes, I promise."

They looked at each other. Basil touched her cheek and wipe out her tears. She feels calm. He takes her to a place where all the people waiting for them.

In that way, the sun is show up. The sunlight makes Vanessa feel sleepy. She hasn't slept all night. She finally fell asleep quietly in his arms.

In her sleep, she dreamed in a room filled with the red rose. Vanessa is confused until there is a man who gives his hand to her with a warm smile.

She met with the person that was long gone. She ran to embrace him. Her feeling is excited to see his face. The man just stroked her hair and apologized.

"I'm sorry, my little sister. You have suffered alone. Our promise is still continuing. Became a strong woman, Vanessa. Something is waiting for you in the future. Brother just wants you to trust the people you care about right now. Take care of him and love him like you love your family."
