45. forced(?)

The man had a bag with him and carried it on his back and was pulled forward by Yuki.

The girl in front of him was quite petite with soft features and lush black hair still, the apocalypse has led her to lose weight and her hair was in a mess still, she somehow exuded an aura of strength!

The underground parking lot, in which, they had stayed the last night actually belonged to a whole structure made for parking space, in short, it was still fairly tall so, Yuki simply ran towards the spiral case that led to the top, as she went up, Yuki finally got a look of the situation from a higher vantage point.

Yuki couldn't help but lament on the situation.

The human population was not very large, to begin with, after the disappearance of a large number of them, but now it was dwindling at even a faster pace, Yuki could still quite far, but the death toll was probably in the ten thousand just in this city while she could only find around a thousand life response from her search... but she knew that the whole population was going to perish so, she should have expected this... but knowing it and experiencing it first hand was two different things!

She was a soldier at the core so, the values of protecting and fighting for the people has been ingrained deep in her bones... well, she has given up her life once, she can use it another time to fight for them, was her passing thought.

Finally, they reached a position that was just safe enough for them to have a better view and at the same time safe from the zergs that could fly.

Yuki had heard the crawling sound but it was at a large distance away, she has been pushing herself to use her soul force to take her senses to the most sensitive stage, after all... anyway, as they waited for the same, their heartbeats quickened.

Yuki could see a lot of them flying in the distance, but they were flying in the opposite directions... Yuki was aware of this phenomenon, it was at times during which, a zerg of higher class comes into a region and out of instinct, the ones in the lower classes free the space for them, because it seems, the higher the class a zergs is from, the more territorial they become and even attack other zergs...

Yuki thought about it and guessed that the incoming zerg was probably in the A-minus type... if she was Snow Ledwig, then she could have killed it within a blink, she was a SSS warrior after all, but she was just Yuki, right now... an Omega who has been starved for days and even with the amount of soul force she had, she couldn't fight directly with it because her physique won't support it...

Yuki's brain was simulating many options and their consequences at the same time, it was something beyond a normal human's capabilities... but even with that, she couldn't find a way where the two of them will be 100 per cent fine...

Her heartbeat quickened as she felt the crawling sound coming closer... she wondered if this was what 'fear' felt like, for a matter of course, she has always been in the top of the chain and could fight head to head with zergs of any size or race, but now that she was at the weaker side and vulnerable, Yuki finally knew what it meant to be a gender which has always been at the bottom, no matter what they did, they were always vulnerable to the strong... they were forced by this world to submit under others and at times like this their physiology made them even weaker...

She was an Imperial 5-star soldier so, even at the face of death, she won't be scared and hence, she guessed that the reason for this discomfort was probably the hormones in her body... this couldn't even be called a defence mechanism! The world was leaving them too vulnerable!!

But Yuki didn't stop; fighting against fate and the setting of this world was something she was used to doing... and so, she will fight till the end!

That man has been silent for a while now, but suddenly the grip of his hand around her smaller one tightened, as he whispered, "It's here..."

The next moment, Yuki was finally able to see the whole thing... indeed, it was a zerg that belonged to A-minus class, but even in that class, it was among the top...

It was in a millipede, with its thick exoskeleton turned into a crisp brown that shone under the illumination of the sun rays, Yuki made a rough guess about the size, it was around 9m long and a metre wide, with over a million of appendages, it looked ferocious... it's lower mandible was free and moved like large scissors, it's sharpness similar to that of shark bites!

It was crawling in the open street and bit down any human in front... the worst thing was, it didn't eat them but just injured them to a critical level and left, it was indeed a nightmare...

Yuki could hear the loud cries of the people in the street and her petite figure shuddered...

Why was she hiding...?

This question started hunting her, even though she had become weak, she still couldn't see the life of another being come to an end when she could have probably saved it..

The guilt of another life that will probably be lost made her lose her calm for a second and it was then--

"Yuki... can we kill it?", this man has been living in this conditions for years now, but even he hadn't seen one of this size... it would be a lie if he said he was not scared, heck.. he even wanted to run away!!!

But on the day his sister died, he had promised to save a life that could be saved and it was this belief that had gotten him to this day, he may be fighting as if, he wanted to throw away his life, but in the end, he still fought to save just another life... in a way, these two were indeed similar...

Even knowing that these zergs could be humans, they still couldn't help but think otherwise... in the end, all of them were victims of those filthy nobles and even if they had to fight each other, in the end, both were just simply struggling to survive in a world that even gods have forsaken!

Nobody was at fault, but all they can do now is to fight... at the core they were humans and they were more persistent than anything in this world!

There will be no remorse... because every human worked based on his own principles and ego... no one was better than other... so, to survive another day, the man decided to kill even if he was forced to hell...!
