At the west gate of the city, three instructors of the Fire Fortress Sect were on guard duty. All three of them were drinking booze to pass the time.
“Sigh… I don’t get Elder Su Zhao. I mean, why do we have to guard the gate. By now, that boy, Leng San, would have escaped from the city already.”
One of the instructors of the Fire Fortress Sect, Zhong Hai, complained to his comrades for having to guard the gate. The other two instructors were Yuan Liang and Zhang Yijiang. Each of them slightly shook their head in dismay.
“He’s been targeted by our Fire Fortress Sect. Only a fool would have had the guts to return to this city,” Yuan Liang said.
“I heard that Elder Su Zhao had sent ten instructors to the southern part of the Black Tortoise Continent to search for the boy. Compared to them we are having it easy, you know, getting to drink some booze during the night.”
Zhang Yijiang laughed wholeheartedly. The spirits were improving his mood.
“But what happened to Bao Huizhang? Why is it taking him so long to get the booze? It’s been half a shichen. Did he lose his way into the red district?”
Zhong Hai started complaining as he didn’t want his good mood to go away. The man looked around for his comrade.
Thump!!
It sounded like a blunt object had dropped from a high place. The three men turned their heads towards the source of the sound and saw a lifeless body!!
“Th...th...that’s Bao Huizhang’s body, isn’t it!!”
Startled, Zhong Hai said to his comrades. Bao Huizhang’s body itself wasn’t the source of fear, but it was the fact that the corpse was headless!! The corpse was beheaded and thrown to the place they were sitting.
“Who was crazy enough to kill a member of the Fire Fortress Sect!!”
Zhang Yijiang yelled as he turned his body around to look for the perpetrator. The man immediately got sober after seeing the headless corpse of his mate.
Suddenly, the three men squinted as they saw a blue light. It gradually approached them until it fully emerged as a young man, enveloped by blue flames, holding the head of Bao Huizhang in his right hand.
“Ohhhhh, great instructors of the Fire Fortress Sect, why are you guys trembling?” Leng San smirked, releasing his killing intent.
“You…you’re Leng San!!”
Yuan Liang said with a shaky voice. He remembered Leng San well, as he was one of the six instructors who came with Su Zhao. The other two instructors hastily circulated their qi once they heard the name. Regaining composure, they inspected Leng San’s qi to find out it was only at the third level of the indigo stage. The three men let out a sigh. They were ninety percent confident that Leng San had defeated Bao Huizhang by some sort of contraption!!
“Son of a bitch!! I don’t know what kind of trap you used to defeat Bao Huizhang, but revealing yourself for a direct confrontation is unexpectedly foolish of you.”
Zhong Hai said, pointing his finger at Leng San’s face.
Leng San was irritated.
“This scumbag didn’t fall into whatever trap you’re talking about. But he ended up this way because he pointed his finger at my face, just like what you’re doing!!”
Leng San stated as his body started to fade and eventually disappeared right in front of the three men.
In the blink of an eye, as the three men were stupefied by Leng San’s disappearance, the boy reappeared behind Zhong Hai, releasing Bao Huizhang’s head from his deathly grasp, and grabbed the base of Zhong Hai’s neck to raise the man’s body from the ground.
“Ughhh!!”
A muffled voice escaped from Zhong Hai’s throat. Leng San smirked, releasing blue flames from the palm of his hand that was grabbing Zhong Hai’s neck using his dragon’s fire qi. Normally, Zhong Hai’s fire qi would provide considerable resistance against fire qi, but Leng San’s dragon’s fire qi was too powerful.
“Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!”
Zhong Hai painfully wailed. The man’s body was covered in blue flames that burnt his clothes and turned his body charcoal black. Within five more breaths, the man should’ve died, but...
Leng San withdrew his fire qi before Zhong Hai took in his last breath. The boy slyly smiled as he softly rubbed his chin with his left hand.
“Hmm...users of fire qi could tolerate for about 20 breaths. Not bad at all.”
After that, Leng San circulated qi to his left hand to pierce Zhong Hai’s back, cruelly. The boy then grasped onto a lump of blood as large as his fist, then forcefully shoved his palm until it went through the body and emerged from the center of Zhong Hai’s chest. The lump of blood was Zhong Hai’s heart!!
Zhong Hai’s body convulsed, his irises swelled up as they slowly moved upward until they disappeared beneath the eyelids. The man’s life ended without a sound.
A horrendous smile appeared on Leng San’s face as he squeezed the lump of blood into bits with his left hand, splattering tiny clots of blood everywhere. He then lifted his left foot to crush Bao Huizhang’s head as if he was squashing fruit.
The scene was bloody gruesome!!
Yuan Liang and Zhang Yijiang couldn’t move their trembling bodies. As if the god of death himself had come from the depths of hell to visit them. Each and every pore in their bodies were oozing with sweat, every single strand of hair stood up. It was almost impossible for them to believe that these were the doings of a fifteen-year-old boy!!
Both of them looked at each other... and ran!!
Instructors of the great Fire Fortress Sect of the Indigo Cloud City, users of blue qi, the two of them scrambled away from a young boy with low-level indigo qi!!
Even if they were to be condemned for the rest of their lives, they just couldn’t gather the courage to face the god of death who came for their lives under the disguise of a young boy. The only thought in their heads was to run for their lives!!
However, the two men were able to take only three steps before the demon appeared in front of them. The being before them, drenched in their comrades’ blood, was grinning. An oppressive killing intent from the boy was suffocating all living things in the vicinity.
“Where are the two of you going? Weren’t you waiting for me? I am here. Why are you running away from me?”
The boy’s voice was courteous, a stark contrast to what he did earlier.
“W...we do not have any resentments toward each other. Please have mercy and let us go. We just followed Elder Su Zhao’s order. I swear that I will not tell anyone about what happened today.”
Terrified, Yuan Liang pleaded as he went down on his knees. On the contrary, once Leng San appeared in front, Zhang Yijiang would dash to the opposite direction, without slowing down.
Leng San stood with his arms crossed to the back as he looked at Yuan Liang, who was on his knees before darting, to follow Zhang Yijiang’s trail. Zhang Yijiang’s face went pale at the realization that he couldn’t possibly outrun Leng San’s inhumane speed. The man then stopped to turn around and palmed Leng San with a hundred percent of his qi with the hope that his opponent’s speed would fortify the attack.
“Searing Palm!!”
Leng San anticipated his opponent’s move. He easily dodged the palm. The boy then circulated his dragon’s fire qi to create a thin, but highly refined film of qi to cover his right arm. Leng San opened his arms wide and swiftly chopped Zhang Yijiang’s arm. The edge of Leng San’s hand was no different from an invincible sword forged by the hands of a master smith. Zhang Yijiang’s right arm that was extended in front was sliced off!!
Whoooossshhh!!
Leng San drew his arm wide, rotated his body for half a turn, and used the edge of his hand to slash Zhang Yijiang’s right leg, which cleanly split from his calf!!
“Arghhhhhhhhh!! You son of a bitch!!”
Within a split second, Leng San hacked off Zhang Yijiang’s leg and arm, effortlessly.
