Chapter 4: Old Man

Eve was flustered, how could she even answer that? There was no good answer, no matter what she said!

Sam was about to say something but Liam stopped her. This was Eve's choice, this had nothing to do with them.

But she was also confused, why did she have to kill so many innocent people, wouldn't Ivan be the same?

"B-but, what about Ivan? Wouldn't he have to kill a lot of innocent people too?". Eve pondered whilst answering her question aloud.

"That would be correct, however it's different. A few classes are only brought up in certain places. For example, Farmers are always born from Peasants and Commoners, and because of the Farmers class itself, nobody even hunts anyways, so they never get to Level 75 to be able to sense other Candidates, for that reason, you'll have to go around Valheim with the goal to slaughter innocents, are you able to do that?". Mark didn't stutter once, this was beyond important for Eve's life, and he had been replaying this conversation in his head ever since he found out she was a Legendary Candidate anyways, he knew exactly what to say.

Eve stuttered over her words "N-no! I can't do that, I just won't become a Legend! Yeah! It's fine!". Eve laughed to herself as she realised how pitiful she truly was.

Mark ruffled her hair, gave her a smile and spoke to Sam and Liam. "You can tell her, and we'll also help to pay for a proper Tutor".

Everyone could physically hear Sam's sigh of relief. Mark had no idea how they knew, but they realised he isn't as simple as he looks.

You wouldn't need to kill any innocent farmers, however you would need to reach Level 120 due to the Farmer Legends last wish for only commoners to inherit his class, and if there are multiple candidates alive, you'll need to reach Level 120".

Eve glistened and started to hug Ivan. "See? I'm going to be way stronger than you!".

"Ouch! You're crushing me!". Ivan started to go red, he truly felt he was about to be crushed to death.

The commotion was settled and everybody was content. Robin and Mark gave a large sum of money which was completely unexpected, which meant they may be able to hire a certain someone, who had a real eye for talent.

With that, life went as normal for the two children, although Eve now is having special training with Ivan and Sam, waiting until their Trainer comes to their town.

Because of this, they both had a small grasp of their original abilities, and for Ivan's case this was Branch Manifestation and Mana Circulation, whilst Eve had Carrot Magic, Mana Circulation and Scythe Efficiency. Ivan never was able to live this down at all, she would mention it almost 24/7, apparently Lee also heard her speak about it in her sleep.

Their final lesson occurred after three weeks, and they didn't do much, they just used Mana Circulation and their abilities.

As Ivan's ability shows, he is able to manifest branches, however they didn't have mana imbued in them, so he couldn't move them, and he could only have two out at a time, he could barely change the trajectory of the branch when he summoned it, however Eve was a bit different. Because her skill consisted of Carrot Magic, the carrots she produced had mana already imbued in them without Eve having to think about it, because of this, she could make them float and move around her, although that is all she could do, she couldn't really do anything else. If anything, she was confused on what the point of these even were, but she didn't complain, at least she could create her own carrots! However, she was shut down almost instantly as Sam didn't know what the reaction of the mana would cause for her body.

With that, the last lesson ended, and Eve stayed for dinner.

"Uhm Sam, who is the Trainer like? Is he nice?".

"Hmm, I only spent around a month with him due to mandatory training for becoming an adventurer. He was able to know my Class just by looking at me, and the rarity of it. Although, that month alone was the worst month of my life, hands down! However, you will see results, I can guarantee it, especially since you're both Legendary Candidates. He's a bit senile, so people who have higher talent, he tends to pay attention to them more, so you both should be fine with that department, and because you have good classes, he'll probably teach you more things too, since he restricted quite a lot of his teachings to teach me".

Eve nodded without saying anything, she may have regretted her decision.

"Oh! I also sent him your abilities, and he's bringing a weapon for you both, although Eve's the only one who is allowed to use one for now".

Ivan nodded, he didn't question it, there must be some reason for it.

The old man came at around 9am, so both kids had to skip school, but thankfully it was a Friday so they could spend the weekend training in Ivan's house, since the trainer will be staying in a spare bedroom, so Sam said Eve can sleep over.

The old man had grey hair above his lip and under his lip, as well as having a grey haired man bun. But what brought their attention was that he had a walking stick and an arm missing, although to them both, their was a faint outline but they had no idea what it was.

Both of them bowed as a sign of respecting their elders.

"Why are you bowing? I'm only 223! Get up right now!".

They both looked confused, only? Isn't that quite old?

Eve was about to speak although Ivan instantly shook his head.

"Hello Sir, I'm Ivan and this Eve. We are in your care". Ivan gave a warm smile at the man.

"I don't care about formalities, Sam you know how I am, now scram. Leave these children with me in the garden whilst I assess them, let's see if they're even worth my time to begin with, also lassy, here. Although it's not exactly a farming scythe, I made modifications, essentially making the blade and the stick longer so you'll have to use both hands".

It looked like the man didn't consider her body size at all, not only is she a dwarf, but she's also a child! It was pretty much double her size in length!

She quietly thanked him and they quickly moved to the back garden.

Ivan went first and activated Mana Circulation then used Branch Manifestation, and with that, the man tutted.

"Dwarf, your turn". With that, he didn't mention Ivan's results.

Eve didn't use the scythe since she had only used a garden scythe, and she never used it regardless when training with Sam. Like she had done countless times, she summoned three carrots and made them rotate around her, the man was somewhat interested, but from his outer appearance it looked like he didn't care at all.

He looked at them both, and sighed.

"Looks like I'll be here longer than I thought".
