Chapter 5
Moving to the quest location I use observe. The last quest was hard so why wouldn't this one be difficult as well?

Ancient Demon Tree- Was once a gifted treant. Corruption from the war has led to this demonic state. Hp-5000
Defense-High Magical Defense. Abilities-Poison cloud- emits a cloud around itself that poisons the target, dealing XX damage over 10 seconds. Lash-. Controls vines to whip or constrict target. Minions- will sprout elite level 7 saprolings with a weakness to fire. Leech- both the saprolings and the tree have the ability to suck the life force from their target, transferring it to demon tree.
I stayed in human form and quickly approached it. Once within range it's forehead glowed green for a millisecond. This prompted its lash ability, causing vines near me to lash out.
With my forward momentum, I decided to test the limits of my body, and did a casual front flip, easily dodging the lash. Lash sends more vines into the air above but I easily roll out of the way. Still continuing forward I use my momentum to spring into an uppercut with my staff aimed at the bottom of his jawline.

I saw the damage numbers pop up, and yet the monsters health didn't go down. So where did the damage go.?
The trees fore-head continues to emit a green light as it uses its poison cloud. Sensing the danger I shift into my snake form, granting me immunity to poison attacks. Coiling around the base of it's "neck" I constrict with all my might.
Looking at the combat logs I see that my damage went to a gemstone-800/1000hp.
I didn't see a gemstone but with the location of the green flash I assumed that it was in the forehead.
My snake form is about 12ft long and 3-inch n diameter. Like a python ,size wise.

Target has failed strength check, stunned for two seconds.
Wasting no time I attacked.

Biting at its forehead with my strong jaws I could feel my mouth close around something hard. Before I realized what was happening the snakes instincts kicked in and I swallowed the object.
A series of notification windows pop up.

New skill unlocked- Absorb soul.- Can absorb the soul of a weakened enemy. Must be attached to another skill or spell. The target must have less than 40% life. Deals 900% damage. (once per day). If successful, has a 50%chance to reset all cool-downs.

As soon as I ingested the stone I lost control of my body. The corrupted stone had taken over. Pain...intense pain assaulted me...
My body began to shift, contort, stretch and bulge. I was turning into a monster of nightmares, made of fleshly parts that made no sense. I could no longer see, and moments later my consciousness faded to darkness.

I awoke with a start as a series of notifications rang out in my ears.
What happened...
How did I black out in a game?

Suddenly the memory of what had just happened came rushing back to me. The horror of what I was becoming scared the mess out of me.
In a panic I reached down and felt my body. I sighed in relief, thankful that I was back to normal. Sitting up, I looked around.
I was now in the middle of a large magic circle inscribed into a circular stone, in the center of one of those hollowed out ancient trees I had seen earlier. There was one section where the magic circle was broken, stopping its power. Laying atop this section was the Treant that I had removed the corrupted stone from...
"Thank you...for...saving...me...", the Treant gasped with difficulty.
"No, it seems you have saved me...what happened?" I responded.
"I..am named Loriel...I was once the guardian of this forest...Marvin...his true form is that of a powerful demon...you cannot trust him...he used a corrupted dragon stone to trap me...in my own body...forcing me to destroy all those he thought had potential...as he hid among my brethren!! You removed the Dragon stone... and took the corruption upon yourself...I brought you here...this circle helped to purify you...but Marvin replaced the Mana stone with a fake...I didn't realize until it was to late...the circle drew mana from me instead...in my weakened state...it was to much...I...." The treant's voice abruptly stopped.
