Liam vs Ayra

The next day Liam's battle was up against a cold female called Ayra. She was a well-known, seasoned trainer around the Johto region; her favorite Pokémon was her Ninetales; elegant but powerful.

Those two battled their way through Johto and collected all the gym badges and for many years she has been drifting in and out of the League. She also collected all the Kanto badges and was now back in the Johto League to see whether she could get first place this time.

She always fell short, either coming in third place or second place but this year she has been training hard enough to finally make a breakthrough with her and her Pokémon as they battled through many trainers to get where they were.

This was not new to her, she was used to being in the spotlight but due to her cold nature, she was never received well by the crowd.

Liam had just arrived from his training and was feeling quite refreshed as he had quite a fruitful training after going out with his Pokémon for quite some time. They had leveled up a bit and now they were ready to move on to the next stage.

As Liam stepped on the stage, the crowd started cheering and Ayra stepped on the stage at the same time as well. Some people in the crowd started booing while the little fans that she had were snapping their fingers as they all had dark auras around them with cold faces but deep down inside, they were happy to see their hero.

The announcer started off the battle after introducing them. The crowd went wild as they witnessed Ayra bring out her Ninetales once again to show that they were still in the game.

The announcer said, "Wow! Ayra's bringing her strongest Pokémon out right from the start. It seems like this is going to be a good battle."

Liam smiled behind his mask as he summoned Tyranitar. "Are you sure you want to use just one Pokémon?" Liam asked. "Yes" Ayra said as she had confidence and would not resolve to use multiple Pokémon. Her pride would not allow her to do otherwise. "Fine let's get this started" said Liam.

"Ninetales use Fire Spin." Ayra gave out her commands as Ninetales shot little fireballs as they started spinning and combining and revolved around Tyranitar who did not mind the heat as he crushed the pillar down with his bare hands.

He wagged his finger as if saying 'That is not effective against me.' Ninetales felt a little angry and she got ready for her next move, Flamethrower. She blasted out a massive Flamethrower which engulfed Tyranitar. Everybody there was shocked by the massive power Ninetales was able to unleash in the attack.

"That's not a normal-looking Flamethrower," the announcer said. Tyranitar, who was already within it seemed to have disappeared. As the ground started moving Tyranitar came up from right underneath Ninetales and Uppercut her right under her jaw making her faint in one hit and the crowd was in awe.

"Ninetales is unable to battle Tyranitar and wins this round."

Ayra was shocked. She could not believe her best Pokémon had been knocked out in one hit. 'When did he use Dig' she wondered. 'Such a great strategy and I never saw this coming.' She shook her head at the feats of this Pokémon and his trainer and how strong he was.

She had made a mistake bringing out a Fire-type Pokémon against a Pokémon that could use Ground-type moves which were Fire-types' weakness.

"All right my next Pokémon will be you, go Golduck". Ayra sent out her next Pokémon, which was the water and psychic Pokémon Golduck, but she did not know that she made another mistake as Tyranitar knew Dark-type moves which were super effective against Psychic-types.

The battle ended as soon as Tyranitar got a hold of Golduck who had been swiftly dodging every attack until he made one fatal mistake and was caught by Tyranitar's Crunch attack.

Another Pokémon went down and Ayra started to get a little frustrated. She wondered what it would take to take down this Tyranitar. She had never seen Liam's previous battles, so she did not know how strong his Tyranitar was, but she was not about to give up.

"Come Bayleef. Let us see if this guy has any more tricks up his sleeves. Use Razor Leaf and after that use Vine Whip to strap him down." Bayleef unleashed the barrage of Razor Leaf while at the same time using her Vine Whip to stealthy hold down Tyranitar's feet as razor leaves rained down on Tyranitar causing some damage to him but he quickly used Slash to knock down all the razor leaves while charging towards Bayleef.

Tyranitar's might and strength was nothing to scoff at. With every step he took running towards Bayleef, the ground shook causing Bayleef to be intimidated.

"Quickly, while we still have some room, use Solar Beam" ordered Ayra. Bayleef gathered some sunlight energy and as soon as Tyranitar was close enough she used it and at least knocked Tyranitar off his feet as he flew a few feet away.

Tyranitar finally felt the pain as that was a massive attack. He was angry and it started to show as he transformed into his devil form. Liam shook his head as he knew that Tyranitar was being impatient. They still had four more Pokémon to face off and if he used his devil form right now, he would run out of energy since he was doing one battle at a time.

It was smart of Ayra to do it that way as she expends Tyranitar's energy instead of having Tyranitar attack her whole crew at the same time. And that is what was Liam's strategy going into this League's battle, but somebody finally figured it out and changed up his style of fighting.

Tyranitar after transforming into the devil form used an Earthquake as the ground broke up into pieces and huge amounts of ground energy went towards the Bayleef.

Bayleef used Vine Whip to thrust herself up into the air as she slapped the ground and flew towards Tyranitar who was surprised by this, but he thought, 'Oh look. My prey is coming to me. This is just great.' He unleashed the Crunch attack as a huge bite projected and went towards Bayleef.

Bayleef used Razor Leaf in one direction pushing her away from that attack as she dodged it and unleashed another Solar Beam and attacked as Tyranitar was knocked off once again who started to get impatient as the more damage he took, the angrier he was getting.

His devil energy continued to leak out but Bayleef did not back down this time as she stood up to the challenge and she started to glow. It should have never been pushed this far and this shocked everybody. She had evolved into her final form, Meganium. Liam knew at that moment that Tyranitar would have to get a little serious and finish this match up quick. Bayleef was already powerful enough and now that she had evolved, it was going to take more energy to bring her down.
