The Awakening

It took a whole day and a whole night before Hung Meifeng gave out. She had used up all of her energy trying to heal Bingwen. But she did. Bingwen's heart had started beating again. But his breathing was soft. He was barely alive. The whole Yusheng family was restlessly waiting for Bingwen's awakening. Yuming felt awful. She blamed it on Jinghua even though it was his fathers fault. So she wrote a letter to him.

"Ning Cheng, son of the Ning clan, future kin of the Yusheng clan, I send my apologies to you. I blamed you for something you didn't do. My beloved brother is alive, thanks to lady Hung Meifeng. We are all waiting for his awakening. Please come back to the palace. Bojing would be so happy to see you.

-Lady Yusheng Mei of the Yusheng clan

Yuming sent the letter by bird. She hoped that Bingwen would wake up. Soon.

The letter arrived at the Ning palace at about noon. Jinghua was sword practicing when he received the letter. He immediately called a carriage and demanded to be sent over to the Yusheng palace. He was desperate to get there as quickly as possible so he ordered the driver to go faster.

Jinghua got to the Yusheng palace within two hours. He rushed inside the main hall. Yusheng Min looked miserable but gave Jinghua a mean look. Yusheng Fu smiled at him but sadly. He bowed to both of them and rushed to Bingwen's room. Once he got there, Yuming was sitting right next to Hung Meifeng, who looked drained and exhausted. And there was Bingwen, still unconscious on his bed. But he was alive. Jinghua wanted to smile. "Why isn't he awake yet?" Jinghua asked.

"He should wake up in a minute by the sound of his breathing." Hung Meifeng said, tiredly. And she was right. Bingwen did wake up. He started to sit up, slowly opening his eyes. Jinghua went up to him and knelt at his bed. "Bingwen!" Jinghua exclaimed. Bingwen looked confused and replied with, "W-Who?"

After what happened, Yusheng Min and Yusheng Fu were rushed to the room. Why did Bingwen ask 'Who' when Jinghua said his name? Hung Meifeng got up and walked over to Bingwen. Bingwen bowed to her. "Lady Hung" She crossed her arms in confusion. "So you do remember us?" She said, She pointed to Yusheng Min and Yusheng Fu. "Who are they?" She asked Bingwen. He stared at his parents for a second before answering. "The leader and madam of the Yusheng clan, my mom and dad. And…my sister, Yuming, and younger sister, Lanying." He answered. Hung Meifeng walked over to Jinghua. "And him?" Bingwen stared at Jinghua."I..don't know who he is. But hes part of the Ning clan. The leader and madam." He said. Jinghua was disappointed. "Young master Yusheng, the madam of the Ning clan has been dead for four years." Hung Meifeng said, confused. "Wait..Yusheng Jin, how old are you?" She asked. "Fifteen." Bingwen replied. Yuming started to sob, so did her mother. Jinghua was in disbelief. How did Bingwen lose his memory? And why couldn't he remember Jinghua? "I see. Although this is very confusing. It seems that his mind has been sent back four years. He thinks hes still 15. But it's strange he doesn't remember Ning Cheng. But My guess is he will slowly regain his memory. I'm unsure about you, Ning Cheng, but maybe if you make him remember you, he will. I shall take my leave. I cannot help anymore." Hung Meifeng said. She bowed and left the room. Yuming walked up to Jinghua. "Ning Cheng, I'm sorry, I…I was wrong..about everything. Please, have time with my brother." Her parents and her left the room leaving only Jinghua and Bingwen. Jinghua was almost angry that Bingwen had forgotten him. "W-What happened to me?" Bingwen asked. Jinghua hopped up and sat on the windowsill near Bingwen's bed and crossed his arms. "You died." Jinghua continued. "During our coming-of-age ceremony, you got shot with an arrow coated in poison. Hung Meifeng revived you. Yet, you lost your memory and don't remember me. You're 20, not 15." Jinghua said. "Can you tell me who you are again?" Bingwen asked. Jinghua bit his lip. This was sad. They've known each other for years and Bingwen claims he doesn't know Jinghua. "I'm the only son of the Ning clan, Ning Cheng. But…you…called me Jinghua..and I called you Bingwen. They were childhood nicknames. But of course you forgot about only me." Jinghua said selfishly. Bingwen looked down in guilt. He didn't understand so of course he would be guilty. The two sat silently for a while before Bingwen asked another question. "We were childhood friends? But..You're a hybrid." Jinghua perked up in anger, slamming his foot against the wood on the windowsill. "What does being a hybrid have to do with anything!?" Jinghua said angrily.

"Well, hybrids are obviously better than humans. Meaning you're more powerful and dangerous." Bingwen said. Jinghua was agitated now. But he knew that Bingwen would think that since Bingwen had forgotten about Jinghua. Jinghua just needed to make him remember. Make him remember.
