8| Without an appointment

That night, I couldn't go home. I had to stop by my parents house, I mean to say the place my grandma, mom, Shawn and stepdad Carlos lived. To make things more better, it turned out to be our Family Thursdays dinner night.

If you'd ask me why I didn't wanna go home, I'll say because of fear. The fear of having a broken head or going half-dead made me anxious, almost causing me to lose my breath.

I know my husband and what he is capable of doing. Anything that makes me go back to that house without pairing one night with my family members...well, such a good idea as it reminds me of something.

I knew coming over to my parents place would be such a marvelous idea. I hope after coming here, either mom or Shawn or maybe grandma Sabrina would wanna go home with me. Just assuming they wanna see the kids. Then, I'd be free from my husband's wrath. Only if it's possible?

"So, how's Leo and the kids?" Mom asked when she settled down on her seat.

It was time for us to dine into mom's special delicacy. One thing about mom, she doesn't make one meal for a square meal. It has to be two to three dishes with desserts.

Mmm. What a balance diet.

I took few spoonful of my creamy dessert, licking my lips at the side before answering mom's sudden question that shook my liver.

I'm already used to everyone in the Calloway's family and Jefferson's family, talking and asking after my husband. It doesn't surprise me anymore.

"They're fine." I say, swallowing down my dessert like a thick lump.

"It's been decades since Leo last visited us. When is he coming to say hi?" Grandma Sabrina complained. Actually, she's right. If it was to be me, I won't call it decades but centuries.

I took a deep breath, dropping my fork and knife. "Well, my husband has been too busy these days." I lied. Heaven knows. "So many things taking his attention. You know...." I shrugged, trying to fish the perfect lies out. "The kids, business trips and so on."

"Blah, blah, blah. But that isn't an excuse." Shawn's brows knitted. "That doesn't stop him from coming to see us, Triana. He can schedule plans and come over, I mean, I can't even remember the last time I saw him."

I rolled my eyes, picking up my glass of orange juice. I seriously don't have anything to say before they'll start by saying am siding Leonardo.

Is not bad if I do. After all what is he to me? My husband, right? I'll do anything and everything in my will to safe my marriage and cover up for my man, my home and Marital affair.

"I think the last time we saw him was at the wedding....yeah, reception, right honey?" Stepdad Carlos inquired.

Mom nodded her head as she stabs the innocent beef.

"Okay, you guys don't believe me?" I think they literally don't. Most especially grandma who can't stop giving me the suspicious glare.

"Guys, guys," Shawn coaxed the awkward moment, waving his hands in the air like a retarded gay when he is not. "Let's relax, have our delicious meal in peace and forget about Leonardo."

"Even me myself knew he was a hardworking fellow." Grandma Sabrina chuckled, still not wanting to put down the topic.

I stayed quiet, letting my shoulders do the talking as I shrugged, trying to mind my business.

Dinner was perfect and splendid. We had random talks, conversation that has nothing to do with my marital life. Thanks to Shawn's girlfriend, Nina Dobrev who changed the topic into something random. She has been sitting down next to me the whole time without spitting out a single word.

I kinda like her personality. She's just 19, whereas Shawn is a year older than her. These two started dating since highschool and now that they're in college, the dating terms still continued.

Am happy for them.

My brother, Shawn Todd, is most likely different from the rest of my other step siblings. Infact, I don't want to go into that right now. I might end up freaking out on this meal and everyone on the table would think have lost it.

Grandma Sabrina promised to come visit sooner or later. I know my grandma with her surprise visit thing. She can come in anytime any day without an appointment.
